Pros:

-The course runs around a youth hostel and offers a very nice layout with a good flow.

-A good variety of shots combined with some wooded holes as well as longer open ones and appreciable elevation changes make this course fun to play.

-The baskets were in great condition and most holes had reasonable tees. Fairways seemed to be maintained regularly.

-While the location is more solitary, traffic isnt a problem at all. I ran into other people rarely.

-You pass the parking lot after every round, so you can leave some refreshments etc. in your car.

-There is a basket for putting practise close to Tee#1.

Cons:

-Not all holes had Tees. The wooded holes have no real Tees and offer a bad stance because of roots.

-Due to the rolling hills and the forest floor, some nasty rollers can happen here and there.

-Some Teesigns were missing and there is no course-map on display. The course-map in the download section is not up to date and the additional 3 baskets (this was a 9 hole course before) are just marked with wooden poles.

-Hole #10 seems like a filler as it is a more than 90° downhill corner shots that requires a spotter.

Other Thoughts:

-The hostel offers a place to buy snacks etc. and washrooms.
-Parking is for free and right next to the course.
-Good course for beginners and advanced playes as well.

Meinerzhagen DGC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 1, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a very good beginner's course. I'm a really big fan of H. Wahrmann's courses in the area because he really knows how to utilize land to maximize the fun and challenge factor in the courses.

This short, but sweet, course has a variety of shots that really test your midrange game. If you can throw straight for 200 feet, you're golden here and should expect a really good score. I'd say that at 7 of the 9 holes are complete ace runs, which is always a nice break from tougher courses.

There aren't any holes over 300 feet, but there are some longer open holes (280 ish) that allow players to air it out.

The baskets and the signs are in excellent condition and the course flows very, very well. It's very obvious where the next tee will be because most of the tees are only 30 feet or so away from the basket. A+ on design.

Also, the grass is regularly mowed here, which isn't as popular in Germany as it is in the US. Huge plus!

Cons:

No concrete tees and not too much of a challenge for the advanced player.

Another huge con is that this course only utilizes a small fraction of the total land available. If this course was expanded and the holes made a little bit longer, this could easily reach 4-4.5 range. I have a hard time giving anything less than 18 baskets a 4.5 or even a 4.

Other Thoughts:

I honestly had a really fun time playing here. I played this course four times in a row and I was totally ready to play it again, but it was getting dark.

Another thing I should point out, this course plays counter-clock wise which means that it favors left-handed or anhyzers for a several of the shots, which adds a little bit of a variety to the usual clockwise RH favoring courses.

In the fall, the leaves and the scenery is breath taking. Meinzerhagen is a very pretty and hilly city. Check it out if you're in the area!!

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 30, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is a great beginners course. The youth hostel has disc to borrow. Great midrange practice for more advance player.

Cons:

The course is short but the local club was limited on lay out unable to take advantage of the trees.

Other Thoughts:

If you happen to be in the area play it you won't be unhappy but don't drive there just to play this course
