What could have been

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 24, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Still has 4 baskets?
Has some length?

Cons:

Not marked, no map, not mowed often.

Other Thoughts:

A course that could have been decent

I had to drive around and find what I could before I attempted to play this course. No map on the other app, no map here. All I had was a few old pictures and the few markers left on the course.

Baskets for holes 1, 2, 5, 7, and 9 are all missing. 1, 2 and 9 have fence posts stuck in them. Hole 7 I found the broken pin. I could not find the old pin for hole 5.

Only markers for tee area were on holes 2 and 8. The rest were either missing or in the case of holes 7 and 9, the tee sign was stuck into the basket of the previous hole.

In general, there is zero reason to play this course.

This could have been a decent course, specially using the area past hole 5. Actually an 18 hole course going around the lake is doable I think. But alas, this was a waste of time.

Would I play here again? Nope, it would take a total redesign to get me to drive 550 miles to play here again. Even then, the course would not be worth it.

Because of the condition, I rated this as low as I could.

Pros:

Nice view of the Plainville town lake. Course is located on the west side of the lake.

Cons:

The tees are just signs planted in the grass, most of which have been pulled up and are now leaning against trees, baskets, or fences. It's nearly impossible to navigate to the next basket without guessing. Several baskets are missing entirely. There are no fairways for most holes - just open air. That is, there is no challenege - no trees, no O/B.

Other Thoughts:

Sorry to say, but this is a sad course that no one is maintaining. It could have been designed better to play around some trees or use the water. Also, ATVs race through here - not the friendliest place for a DG course.
