It's a nice easy, short course, with a relatively flat layout, good to introduce beginners to the sport, set in a scenic location by a lake surrounded by the rolling hills of central New York.

The holes require some shot shaping skills, as none of the holes are just completely wide open, with a decent variety of left, right, and straight. This shot shaping is probably the biggest strength of the course.

For the most part, navigation is pretty straight forward, with tee markers typically not too far away from the previous basket. The tee markers are flush with the ground, and could be easily missed if the grass was overgrown. The targets are wooden poles with a yellow band painted near the top. Each target also has a hole number bolted on in the direction facing the tee. There is a sign by hole 1 that has a basic course map, a photo of this sign is available in the "links/files" section of the course listing.

It's a very short course, best suited for beginners, which I guess is both a pro and a con, if you know what I mean. The short, flat nature of this course will be good for some folks, and boring for most experienced disc golfers who aren't just wanting to bag courses.

The course is set on a grassy area that winds through a more wooded portion of the park. There is a decent risk of lost discs in the fairly thick, slightly swampy schule in some spots. When we played, the course was also fairly wet, but I understand that it has been a fairly wet summer in this part of the world, so take that for what it's worth. A potential downside to the course being set entirely on grass is the need for maintenance. Luckily for us, someone was just finishing cutting the grass as we started playing.

Hole 3's tee was on hole 2's fairway, about 20 feet short of the target. I'm not too sure about the why and where of this one. Although it seems the course gets very little play, I just can't think this is a good idea. Speaking of hole 2, we threw at hole 7's target initially, as it's the closest and most visible target from 2's tee. The only other navigational issue was finding hole 6's tee. We still haven't found it. We just threw from near 5's target.

A potential con would be the targets. They're not baskets, just poles stuck in the ground. Some folks feel the need to hear plastic splashing into chains to feel like they're playing disc golf, and you won't get that here. You just get the soft "tink" of plastic nicking wood.

I wouldn't go out of my way at all to play here, but if you're driving by, and have a few minutes to kill, I still wouldn't recommend paying the $7 to get in to the park just to play the course. If however you happen to be going to the park for other reasons, why not bring your discs?

Nice park. Short course that could be good for kids or players new to the game. Plays fast.

Very wet. Parts of most fairways have large puddles. Wear old clothes & sneakers. Pole holes.

Perfect as part of a picnic with the family. Not worth a trip just for the course.
