Don't Hate 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 25, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It's relatively easy. It's relatively short. There's a pool at the bottom of the hill. You won't lose a disc here. Play one-disc with a Buzzz or Roc or Skeeter, etc.

Cons:

The markers are getting harder and harder to locate. #8's marker has disappeared under the grass. $1 to play for visitors doesn't seem to be used on the course.

Other Thoughts:

Nobody is going to come LOOKING for this course. There are others to play and Kannapolis Rec Park closes at 7pm anyway. This is a decent short course for those who are going to be at the pool anyway.
Hole 1: Straight forward. Practice your long putt.
Hole 2: Some trees to avoid (possibly volleyball players too) and don't go long into the nasty pond.
Hole 3: One of the toughest easy holes in DG. Want to go to the right of the trees and up the hill but there's almost ALWAYS a breeze coming downhill knocking your hyzer to the ground.
Hole 4: Another tree in the way. Jungle on the left.
Hole 5: Up hill (into that breeze again) but nothing in the way.
Hole 6: Almost identical to 5 except for large tree near basket (beware yellow jackets in ground occasionally)
Hole 7: Down hill to basket on edge of ridge--not hard to overthrow
Hole 8: Favorite hole--nice downhill open hole--tree to get around at basket
Hole 9: Up and over a hill between trees to basket.
NONE of them are technical or long. But the course is unfairly compared to other courses in the Charlotte Metro area. If you want Nevin or Renny, go there. Don't expect it from a nice little private course that gives you a reason to get in the pool.

For Children 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 8, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good place for small children to learn the game. Nice little water park.

Cons:

Pay to play. No tees or signs; just 9 basket thrown randomly in a field. I live 2 blocks away a it's not worth my time.

Other Thoughts:

Kannapolis needs a disc golf course; this doesn't count.

Good for Kids 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 8, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is great for the small little water park/pool that is there. The main users are kids that are at the pool and likely have never played the game. it is a great little open course that can get kids interested in disc golf.

Good family course or place to take kids for the day to swim and play disc.

They have discs there for people to use who come to the pool.

Nice baskets.

Cons:

Unless you are a member of the pool and already there it is not worth paying to play. This course is VERY short and wide open with maybe one or two trees in play. You wont need much more than a putter and a mid to play this course.

Other Thoughts:

While a seasoned veteran will not find this course attractive at all, it is perfect for kids and families who are new to the game or have never played.

I work at a day camp(1st-6th graders) that goes to this park in the summers and we take the kids out on the course to play. Many of these kids have started playing at other parks and bought there own discs since playing here.

I think courses like this that are short and can give younger and amatuer players a feeling of success are good for the sport!!

Not Worth the Effort 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 3, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

If you work/live close this would be a decent enough course to go and work on your putting/approach game.

Cons:

Very repetitive and unchallenging course. The whole course plays through an open field with little to no shot variation. Course isnt easy to navigate due to lack of teesigns and markers.

Other Thoughts:

Unless you are a local this course isnt worth the effort to play. It certainly wouldnt be worth paying to play for the day. When I asked I was told I could play without paying.

This Course is a Joke 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 30, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Virtually impossible to lose a disc on the course. Great for practicing approach shots.

Cons:

This used to be a par 3 golf course. Very open, maybe a tree here and there. Oh yeah, and the only marker to show you where to drive from is a circle of cement in the grass that is less than a foot in diameter. Some holes don't even have them. Not really worth playing, especially if you have to pay.

Other Thoughts:

When I asked if members had to pay to play, the response I got was, "as long as you bring your own putter and balls."
