Now 18 Holes !!!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 11, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Course has been upgraded to a full 18 holes. Holes 5-13 are new. What were holes 5-9 are now 14-18. This is a well laid out course using the terrain with some uphill and downhill shots. Two ponds come into play on holes 6,7,12,14,15 & 16 making for some interesting shots. Hole 12 has two pin placements, playing the longer pro pin makes for a much more interesting hole. Tee pads on the additional 9 holes (5-13) should be completed within two weeks along with signs. Currently, tee stations for these holes are marked on the ground with paint. You can pick up a map of the additional 9 in the park office across the street from the tank during business hours to make it easier to navigate until the completion of the signs and tee stations. Good signage with par listed for amateur and pro on each of the original holes, excellent baskets and concrete tee stations with good traction. Easy to follow course layout that starts and ends near basketball court. Convenient restrooms and drinking fountain near hole #1.

Cons:

The first 4 holes are not overly technical, mostly straight shots without too many obstacles, which could be a plus for beginner and intermediate players. Lacking tee stations on additional 9 holes that were just installed 7/29/11. Hard to find tee stations on additional holes, but should be fixed within two weeks. Water comes into play on 10 holes (4 on streams and 6 around the two ponds), for a more experienced player this could be a plus.

Other Thoughts:

Additional 9 holes are now available for playing in the north end of park. Very fun course. The additional 9 holes have added several technical shots that the course was lacking, along with several longer holes. Now, well forth the drive to play the new course. Park offers many other activities (tennis, horseshoes, basketball, playground, baseball diamond, sunken gardens, pavilions and several grills).

2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 19, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

There's a lot of good shots packed into this 9 hole course located in a scenic park. There are some nice elevation changes and water hazard on three holes. The available land is used well and there are large mature trees in play on every hole. The tee signs are great and list pro and rec par, and the concrete pads are in good condition. Navigating the course is very easy.

Cons:

Hole 5 would be a great hole (and probably the signature hole on the course) if they trimmed up some branches a little way off the tee pad. When I played there, it didn't really have a fairway, so you were left with a simple placement shot very wide around the trees over the sidewalk.

Holes 5-7 play along a walking path so watch out for people on these holes.

Other Thoughts:

I found this to be a fun 9 holes of golf, but because of the water on 3 holes I don't know I would recommend this course to brand new players. Like most 9 holers, I wouldn't recommend going far out of your way to play it, but if you're in the area or live close it's definitely worth playing.

There's a tank and jet as you come into the park and the sunken gardens are just across the street.

Good 9 holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 21, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- A good mix of 9 holes
- Nice tee signs with Pro & AM's pars, distance, and basket location.
- Nice Baskets
- Down hill shot on hole 8
- Three holes around pond for interesting shots
- Easy to find each cement tee pads

Cons:

- No way to retrieve disc from pond besides swimming.
- there's only 9 holes
- Car's can park and get in the way on hole 4 and the basket is too close to road
- Hole 5 basket is crooked and sits close to water. You can over shoot snd lose disc.

Other Thoughts:

A good DGC with old airplane and tank by practice hole. Easy to play 2 times with restrooms and drinking fountain

Home Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 16, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good course for beginners such as myself and my friends. This course provides elevation changes, and some obstacles. Gives people a chance to recover strokes when a bad shot is made. Nice baskets and tees/signs. Never a wait to play

Cons:

Mostly open. Doesnt require different types of shots. You can play mostly straight shots. But that is also what makes it good for a beginner

Other Thoughts:

There are plenty of other courses near to challenge your game, but this is a good course to enjoy a couple hours on and practice your game.

It's a course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 2, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Another course in the ground.good use of the water, hills, trees.Very nice park, great beginner course for the first one in the town.

Cons:

Very short,a couple of dangerous holes,#4 and #6. #4 needs moved about 30 ft to the right. I believe #6,over the pond, could hit kids fishing off the dock.

Other Thoughts:

Since this is a new course other park users do not have a clue about disc golf. #2 fairway behind a shelter, I believe would get used a lot and will be not playable on a nice weekend.do not put another 9 baskets in this park....it will be more of the same. Another park that can handle 9 baskets would be great,if it would be longer.

The Hunt Is On 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 7, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Course is in a beautiful park with rolling hills and mature trees. Good use of elevation and trees. Water comes into play rather well, too. Baskets are in great shape and tees are concrete with good signs. Practice basket by first tee along with trash recepticle. Bathrooms in the summer. Holes fair in length with a couple pitch and putts.

Cons:

Road runs right through course. Hole four shoots over parking lot. Only 9 holes, though more than enough room for expansion (I believe someone is working on this). Tree on hole two needs trim, as it sits right in front of tee with wide reaching low branches.

Other Thoughts:

Pretty little course in Huntington. Good course to get out and stretch the legs, but not to make the trip for.

Better Than Nothing 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 8, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

In a great park for disc golf. Great signs. Elevation changes are good. Some easy some challenging.

Cons:

Two holes are rediculous. Definitely designed by a non-disc player. The rest are good holes. Those two are rediculous. You'll know which ones if you play.

Other Thoughts:

Could have made it a bit longer or asked some people to help design it that play alot. Not bad for a city with no other disc golf.

Decent for this town 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 20, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Practice basket
Not too flat
Natural obstacles prove to be challenging

Cons:

Terrible tee locations on a few holes
A few places to hit concrete/rocks
Not enough variety from hole to hole

Other Thoughts:

2 wide open holes with OB on the left make this course exciting. 4, maybe 5 holes can be aced. Must be able to throw forehand to be successful on this course.

A good mix of 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 20, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Practice basket, very nice tee signs, a variety of holes, good use of park terrain

Cons:

Only 9 holes (there is plenty of room for 9 more holes), short tee pads

Other Thoughts:

This course is fun and utilizes many different shots. It's a shame that it is only 9 holes, but I usually play several rounds in one outing. There are not really any holes where you need to whip out a long drive as most holes are a bit shorter or obscurred by trees. I don't know about going out of your way to play this course but definitley play it if you are in the area or if you are passing through.
