Rugged, but rough around the edges 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 10, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Plenty of tight wooded lines, and heavy elevation changes - several rock faces along the front several holes are worked pretty creatively. Overall, this course will reward accuracy on a variety of lines (and rather heavily punish wild drives).

Feels longer than the signed length - some of this seems to be due to alternate pin locations.

Cons:

Tee signs can be misleading at times - a 90 degree dogleg halfway down the fairway is not straight ahead, etc.

A few holes are pushing the pinball quotient, and feel almost too narrow.

Other Thoughts:

Will test your midrange lines more than any other part of your game, but you will have some opportunities to throw the fast stuff now and then. Does not feel repetitive despite the number of similarly short, tight holes, simply because they demand so many different lines.

Probably the toughest course on site, and once you get over the tee signs, contending with Chickasaw in quality.

Tight woods 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a beautiful park with super views and way out in the woods. The woods are nice, quiet and a fine place to escape from the hectic world. A number of holes are very unique and fun.

Cons:

It is lacking in variety and is too tight to be one of my favorites. The woods theme is repeated over and over, along with the logging road.

Pros:

Will definitely improve your game. Can you see the pictures? These holes are AWESOME!!!! Between boulders? COME ON!!! Just Fantastic.

Cons:

Same as chickasaw. Kinda buggy in the summer, can be muddy. Shouldn't keep you from playing.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 10, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

The front nine has some sweet holes. One basket is between two huge rocks.
The tee signs are nicely made.

Cons:

Back nine. Its pretty much the same shot over and over..it got pretty boring.
Pretty easy to hurt yourself so watch out

Other Thoughts:

The front nine really made this course and made it worth playing. This park has another course and another on the way.

Little Brother to Chickasaw 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 4, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Along with Chickasaw and Tushka, Tishomingo SP provides 56 holes of disc golf in one park.

The first few holes are quite unlike any I have seen on a disc golf course, vistas I often see when hiking East TN! However, the baskets on some of these holes are extremely tricky to find- (when you think there is no basket, look down over a cliff!)

Cons:

Unfortunately the course design greatly drops off after the first few holes. The last 12 holes start to become monotonous- more logging road, neat idea, but not enough variety for my tastes.

This course is not nearly as good as the others on site. I believe it is a newer course however, and still needs some time to mature, but it appears most people prefer Chickasaw.

Other Thoughts:

Like bazkitcase5 said, the course just didn't sit right with me either. The best holes were at the beginning, but then they seemed to run out of ideas. Be sure to bring your camera!

I stayed in a cabin on site and played disc golf all day. What more could you ask for?

$3 a day to enter the park, but you can play both courses on site as many times as you want.

I would rate this course 3rd out of the 3 in this park. None of the 3 are top 10 courses, but when you consider there are 3 courses in one park, Tishomingo makes for a nice disc golf destination.

Just as good as the other 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 17, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course is also in the woods up on a hill. It's a very challenging course if you have a hard time keep a disc on a line. That is a must up on these hills. If you venture off the fairway too much you are sure to meet a tree or a ROCK. There is a few beautiful holes on this course! Some of them will just leave you scratching your head like what?

Cons:

You can easily get hurt at this course if you are not careful! There is plenty of places to fall from and plenty of places to get your foot caught in something and twist your ankle. I saw a few people near about lose it.

Other Thoughts:

You should bring a camera wiht you to take pictures of the holes. There is a really really cool looking one on the first 9. Infact there are a few holes on the front 9 worth taking pictures of just for the sheer fact that they are placed so well. If you are in this area come and play this course. you will not be disappointed.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jan 18, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course has several interesting views and different types of shots. If you can throw a putter or a roc straight, through tight gaps, you will love this course. There are nice tee signs on every hole and the navigation is pretty intuitive. The back half of the course plays along an old logging trail.

Being in a MS state park, camping is available, as well as bunk houses and cabins.

Cons:

Like the other course, these tee pads have been upgraded to carpet, but unlike Chicksaw, it looks as though the carpet was just slapped down on top of the older dirt/gravel tees, with no extra smoothing or extra effort, which can be bothersome on a few holes. This course does not seem to be taken care of as much as the original Chickasaw course. It looked better the last time I played it, being it was a tournament, but I've seen this course where the growth had just gotten out of hand. There is no dedicated local club of decent size that can take care of this course properly. The design can also seem a little redundant, with a lot of the same type shots, with a few interesting holes mixed in here and there.

Being in a MS state park, it cost $3 per vehicle to get in (most locals just buy a year pass for $42).

Other Thoughts:

If you like short, technical courses, then you will probably like this course. However, it seems that this course is a bit too short for blue level pros, but too tight & difficult for newer players. There are no open holes and no holes longer than 300 feet. This course just does not sit right for me. Like the Chickasaw course, it seems like there is so much more potential for a great course, but falls in line as another pitch and putt course in northeast MS.
