More Novelty than Serious 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 3, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This feels funny to say but the clubhouse people were friendly, and the golfers hanging around the clubhouse were curious without being dismissive.
The course is on a ball golf course and maintained everyday. A roller could possibly go forever on the short grass. There is a bathroom at the number 5 tee and a drink machine at the number 3 tee. I enjoyed the golf cart as a novelty and it was included with the round fee. There is a fifth tee for disc golf in front of the red tees. A score card and map in one are included in the price.

Cons:

Length alone does not make a good disc golf course IMO. Playing a round on this course was a series of throw disc as far as you can, drive up to it, throw as far as you can, for 18 holes. There is almost no risky shot here.
The course feels crammed in and that no real thought or planning went into this layout.
Getting stuck behind ball golfers was painful. They let me play through but it was a good fifteen minutes before they completed the hole they were on.
To me the experience of actually playing this course was underwhelming.

Other Thoughts:

Huge arms would probably enjoy this course more because they could really let loose with warp speed drivers.
This course has potential if it is redesigned but as disc golf is treated almost like a gimmick it probably won't happen. A few modifications and you might feel like you played disc golf.
The round fee of 15 dollars is high.
The golf cart is fun.

Not a great option! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 30, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course adds a third course offering to the West Monroe disc golf population.
The course is wide open - it is actually set on the Trenton Street Golf Course. Picture yourself playing ball golf with a disc - that's what this course is.
Great chance to practice booming wide open throws.
Great location in the heart of the city.

Cons:

$15 to play!!!! Driving a cart?!?!?
With 4 good courses within 30 minutes driving distance to this course, it simply doesn't make "sense" to play here.
The course has very little Disc Golf appeal. You must compete with ball golfers for space and play. Little origninality in course design or play.

Other Thoughts:

I think this course was a great "idea." "Hey let's put a disc golf course on an existing ball golf course!" In reality, for experienced disc golfers, this course is money poorly spent and completly unchallenging.
Wish the money spent on this course could have been used elsewhere.
