Not in the summertime... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 3, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

The layout of this course is very cool, I think. The first 5 holes are in a wide open field, which is the best part (in summer). Then you wind in and out of the trees for the rest of the course, with some holes a bit longer, but most shorter and extremely technical.

Signs on each hole are very nice (although not always accurate).

Cons:

No signs for course, first tee, or any direction to any hole you wish to play. Yes, the holes have signs, but you have to find the hole's tee pad first, which can be a challenge.

Many baskets numbers were switched which threw us off of many holes.

Playing the back nine is horrible in the summer. You are searching through thorns, stickers, and 2 feet of undergrowth the entire back nine.

Unless you want to throw extremely safe and short, you will throw your disc off of the extremely narrow path multiple times.

Very hard to navigate from the beginning to the end. No maps or directions to holes. Yes, signs are next to tee pads, but many were not accurate.

Other Thoughts:

This course would be extremely fun in the winter I believe, however, in the summer it is just not worth the hassle.

You can find where you are going if you have some extra time, so if it is cold out, and you have a minute then you should play this course...just not in the summertime...

Nice Challenge 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 30, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very challenging. This course weaves its way through a heavily forested area and creek. Many risk reward holes, you can either deuce it or get a 5 if your disc kicks off into the trees. A mix of tight, short holes and longer, open ones. Multiple pin placements and tees. Nice rubber tees, excellent tee signs and brand new baskets. A little elevation comes into play. Great bridges that span the small creek. The course is on a quiet college campus, you'll have the course to yourself most of the time. Trash cans throughout the course and restrooms on campus.

Cons:

Very, very thick rough. The nettles, thorn bushes, weeds and tall grass can make finding a lost disc a chore. A couple of the holes are a little TOO tight, it can be hard to find a line. Some protected basket placements make for tough putting, but that could be seen as a positive I suppose. Some areas have some loose barb wire to look out for.

Other Thoughts:

Overall this is a really solid course in a small town. Don't let the short distances fool you, several holes are very challenging and require pin point accuracy. During the summer the undergrowth is crazy, so plan on spending some time looking for your disc if you lose sight of it. I would suggest you wear long pants unless you enjoy having cut, itchy legs. The mix of holes is interesting with the course being long and open at the beginning and short and tight at the end. It is a fun course and is worth a stop if you are in the Lincoln/Beatrice area.

Place is a Dump 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 8, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nothing really comes to mind...

Cons:

The place is a dump... We drove to it from Lincoln and disappointment is the only word that I can think about it. The tees are just a post in the ground with a # written and not easy to find. Over half the baskets don't stand close to straight, and a couple were even upside down because "funny" people decided to do that, not to mention they were randomly placed around the woods. I'm not sure why you would build a course and install mobile baskets that can't be locked to prevent them from being stolen or vandalized, such and throwing them in water. There are small little bridges that cross the creek/runoff path (which is very small, not big enough to lose a disc in) and some of those were washed out. Old car tires and fence posts seemed to be a part of the natural scenery there/ Would be helpful if the place got cleaned up a little and a little bit of maintenance was done by whomever is supposed to be taking care of it.

Other Thoughts:

If you have to spend more than 5 minutes to get there, then you're wasting your time. I suppose though if you wanted practice in a wooded area, you could walk in there and make up your own holes to work on your game. (Which is what we ended up doing)
