Reviewed: Played on:Jul 26, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- clear views of the lake at all times
- baskets are decent quality

Cons:

- Missing a hole
- $5 charge to get in
- baskets are far too close to water/drop-offs
- no signage
- map doesn't reflect actual course setup

Other Thoughts:

If you're there to swim, boat or camp then by all means play the course. Other than that...save your $5! Supposed to be 9 holes but one is missing. They give you a map but it's not the same as what you really play. Anyone can park directly in the line to the baskets so you have to be crazy cautious.

Something to do while you camp 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 7, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good for beginners
Excellent side activity if your camping there
The Island holes are cool
Well Maintained park
Plenty of other fun things to do on site

Cons:

Small
Not a lot of variety
Busy
Not Challenging
Pay to Play

Other Thoughts:

I hit this course on my way home from a road trip. If your camping, fishing or boating there then this is a good side activity. It's clearly not the main focus of the park though

They take good care of it but there is a lot of traffic to look out for while you play. Look out for walks fishers, swimmers etc because its a family camp ground as well.

At the end of the course you cross the beach (look out for children) go over a bridge and play a few holes on an Island. I really enjoyed that part of the course.

I don't think they have room but another 9 holes would be great

If your already there for a family outing then I would hit this up but I wouldn't go to far out of my way on this one

Nice use of Space 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 10, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Excellent course for Beginners & Intermediates. Left & right holes. Fairly short, but enough trees and water to keep it interesting. Nice signs; easy to follow after you find the first tee.

Cons:

Seems like it will be very frustrating to play when a lot of other people are using the park. Parking areas & grills along the fairways. Even on a cold day in October, there were two pickups parked on the faiway for hole 1. The coordinates on this web site sent us to a private drive on another peninsula. We reprogrammed our GPS to the coordinates at the entrance to the park.

Other Thoughts:

The beginner tees are easy to find, with a solid pole in the ground at each. Will play again, and try to avoid busy times in the park.

Fun Unknown Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 28, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-A good mix of left and right turns
-Water makes you think about your shot
-Easy flow until you get to the distance from 6-7
-Beautiful park with course near swim beach. Swim & play
-Closest to Mansfield!

Cons:

-Pay to get into park, but take advantage with a picnic or swim, and it is worth it
-If swim beach is busy, final 3 holes could be tricky to avoid hitting kids!
-Only 9 holes
-Natural tee locations - just a couple of bricks sunk in ground to indicate location. Can get muddy.

Other Thoughts:

This was a fun course for us as beginners. Not super challenging, but keeps you thinking.
Definitely not Aumiller in Bucyrus, but a good course nonetheless.
Could be even better if they ever add another 9.

***ADDED - I have stopped going to Charles Mill. It is so frustrating to drive out there, pay to get in, and have 7,8,9 unplayable because of the swim beach.
There is also no way to know when they pull the baskets for the winter, and when they put them back in.
Just not even worth the trip.

Fine course if you are here already, but don't drive out of your way to get there.
