Birds by the River 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Riverside Park is a very well groomed park. The course keeps its distance from the playground as the first seven holes loop around the City Park square. Interestingly the last two holes don't flow as easily as you cross to the south of the parking area by the first teen and go up and down a gentle hillside that is not as well groomed. For me this is an interesting section that makes up for the fairly typical park course that precedes it.

The tee areas are paved, therefore well defined and convenient. Most of the holes are signed with distances and flows well from basket to next tee. There is beautiful scenery here at the end of summer in small town America. The Calamus River bends around the city park area inviting many locals out for some fishing with their sons.

Cons:

Some of the sings have seen better days. It's a typical nine hole park course that makes its way around a basic small city block square. Its short with most holes being about 250, a player should have more than a few birdie opportunities.

Other Thoughts:

I would recommend this course to anyone. Obviously a player in Burwell NE has very limited choices. I played this park as part of a loop which included Loup City and Ord NE. Any player looking to make the trip would probably want to get all three in to make any one worth their time and should not expect to be blown away but anything specifically course related but would be wise to slow down and enjoy life at the speed of Burwell that is a few hundred miles off the beaten path. For me it was nice to allow my daughter free moments to play on the banks of the river while I threw discs.
