Nope

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 22, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Chainstar baskets are in decent shape

Cons:

--Course feels forced into too little space.
--Whoever made the signs wrote "yards" instead of "feet" when "feet" was the right answer.
--When you finish on 9, you're about 4 tenths of a mile from your car

Other Thoughts:

I'm not sure why they did this here. To be fair, the walk between the pond on the right and the wetlands on the left which define the 1st through 4th holes is pretty enough. It's also a rather narrow (10-12 ft) berm, and makes for perilous shooting. There's nothing to be widened/improve here from a disc golf standpoint. Pond right. Swamp left. And this is the good part of the course.

#5 pinches you between tennis courts and the access road, but it's playable, as is #6. After this, it just starts getting stupid. 7 is your first blind throw into thick woods. Yes, there is a basket in there somewhere, but it's hard enough to walk to it, let alone throw into that space. 8 invites you to throw over disc-eating tall grass, carrying over the edge of a bus parking lot. 9 is a repeat of 7. Just heave your disc into the middle of that thicket and hope you find both your disc and a basket, preferably in proximity to each other.

You'll have plenty of time to wonder why this course exists on the 8 minute walk back to your car, since this course doesn't, indeed can't loop around on itself. There just isn't enough property to do a course justice. If the City of Prior Lake wanted to do a DG course, nearby Cleary Lake Park, already zigzagged with cross country skiing and walking trails, would be an excellent location.

Very tight fairways and lots of water 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 12, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Signed, Good Discatcher baskets, Easy to follow layout

Cons:

First 4 holes have lots of water and very small fairways, Couple of holes shoot near roads/parking lots, very thick rough. Course does not loop, a long walk from Hole 9 to Hole 1. While the course is signed they mark it in yards when it's obviously feet, considering this the distances seem to be mostly accurate.

Other Thoughts:

The first 4 holes are on a walking path circling a large pond. If you go left of the path you will be in the pond, if you got right of the path you will be in thick rough, or marshy wetlands. The only safe area is the fairway which is no wider than the walking path.

The back 5 offer up some creative tight shots including some elevation and tight but fair gaps. The holes also have tight fairways but their is no water hazards and the rough isnt as bad as the front.

These back holes are a large reason the rating is a 2 and not a 1.

I'm not a big fan of hole 8 which requires you to throw over the bus parking lot and land on a slim fairway or go deep into the rough.

When I played in winter the brush wasn't in bloom so landing in the rough wasn't bad but I can see in the summer months it will create a lot of headaches. I understand the course was only recently completed late 2016 so hopefully there are plans in place to remove some of the thick rough next season.

Between all the water hazards, the extremely slim fairways on most of the holes, and the thick rough this course is not beginner friendly. beginners will end the round frustrated and disc-less.

Think about what it could have been.. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are four nice, hardly used Chainstar baskets that play around a couple of ponds in thick rough. The baskets are all numbered with 15 foot PVC pipes coming out of the top, which can help with seeing where the basket is from a blind shot

Cons:

When DGCR user "mndiscg" reviewed this course five years ago there is a strong possibility that the course did not look like it does now. What could be solid safari holes are now overgrown, shoulder high in some places minus tiny mowed paths.

Not throwing in this path and throwing off into the rough almost guarantees a lost disc. The baskets also are too far apart from each other, probably 700-800 feet at an estimate, to play basket to basket like some people will do on courses like these without any tees.

Other Thoughts:

I've never left a course with no intentions on going back, because if this course is overgrown to no end like this is, than it serves no practical purpose from a novice player to an open player. Sure there is the saying "Some baskets are better than no baskets," and I tend to agree with that saying except in this case. It is a real shame since, like mndiscg said, there could be potential for solid safari holes, if the entire area wasn't literally a safari with the 5 foot high rough and brush.

Could be amazing 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 21, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Lots and lots of hills
-Lots of woods
-Imaginative and difficult holes
-Ponds and rough as good obstacles

Cons:

-NO TEES
-No signs for navigation, hard to find next hole. Especially without tees

Other Thoughts:

It looks as if this course was built by the school or kids as a project or something. This course looks relatively new, 5 years old or less. With some maintenance, signage and tees this course would rated a 4 or 4.5 for me, depending on where the tees are and how well the signage is. If you play this course you have to play is safari style and make up tees. It is very challenging and you can have fun with it. If it gets tees it is a must play but for now it is only ok.
