Sounded good but... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 26, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

There is a course somewhere there

Cons:

Overgrown to the point of not able to see track any hole or find many landing pads

Other Thoughts:

I was super excited to play this course, being 18 holes and sounding fun for a beginner, but after getting to this course, i realized i didn't even need to bring my discs because it was basically unplayable. I will check back after a few months, since I have read there is a tournament in July there, but I have my doubts on whether it will be in better shape.

Good new course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 25, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Short and technical 18 holer.
-Good variation of shots, no two holes seemed too alike.
-Water, stream and trees are used well as obstacles.
-Blind tees on a few make it interesting.
-Map at the start and signs at every pro tee show par and distance for every hole. Look at this to know where the next hole is on a few otherwise navigation isnt too hard either.
-Friendly locals that will show you the course. Many were involved in its construction so listen to what they have to say.
-Many holes are aceable but not too easy either.
-Not huge elevation but the subtle drops and gains keep it interesting.
-There are some holes that you wont see at too many courses like 3 and 8 which the basket sits at the top of a small hill or 6 which is between 2 ponds so over or under shooting is a problem, 14 is just crazy so you should play it too.
-The fairways and green areas are mowed well.
-2 tees on all but hole 3 and that is only about 200 feet and isn't necessary.
-Good tourney with lots of prizes to be held every July.

Cons:

-A bit short, especially from the rec tees.
-Tee boxes are a bit small and some have loose gravel/sand on them.
-Easy to lose discs and even good shots can be hard to find. Use a spotter on blind tees.
-Somewhat long walks between a few of the holes (8-9 comes to mind).
-The baskets are of lower quality and don't catch discs as well as others but aren't too bad.
-The wind can whip up pretty fast in western MN which can make this course all that much more challenging.

Other Thoughts:

This is a good new course that I would recommend playing if in the area. It has a good support group in the SMDGA. I recommend keeping it on the fairway and be conscious of the water although it is only a big threat on one hole. If this course is maintained well and played often it will remain good or only get better.

***5/3/14 Update***
I had to lower my rating to reflect this course's constant condition. It has the layout to be a solid 3.5 as I originally rated it but there is no maintenance. They don't mow it, signs are missing or damaged, tees are falling apart, etc. It is rarely playable and even then it is still hard to not lose discs or get lost. Someone needs to reclaim this course from its grassy grave before it is too late.
