Use of natural obstacles and pin placements contributes to an fun yet challenging course. Multiple tees pads insure that you will be challenged no matter what your skill level may be. Tee maps are very well designed and make the course much easier to navigate. The land scape of the course is just beautiful.

Unfortunately not all of the baskets are in yet but with funding this could become an amazing course for tournaments and weekly play.

I can't wait to play this course when it is finished. I encourage all those who are interested in playing this course to contact the camp and get out there, you won't regret it!

Well laid out design. Great facilities (Both parking and restrooms). Good mix of throws (Techincal/Distance). Good signage. Great staff. Mix of terrain (Wooded/clear). Longs and Shorts for all holes (with one exception) and some White (Experts) on a few already.

Only nine baskets (for now!). Some fairways not clearly defined. No tee boxes (Stone markers are used for both long and shorts and some experts). Without a guide, you will need a map. Not enough traffic yet to clearly mark paths from one hole to another (but it is brand new, this will come).

OK, to be honest this is not a complete course yet. We were the first non campers to visit the course and we did have a great time. Anything negative in this review has to be taken with a huge grain of salt due to this course being in its infancy stage right now. Yes, it only has nine baskets, but it has fantastic potential to be a class act 18 hole course real soon. Good mix of open and wooded throws, but at this stage a few of the wooded holes are VERY wooded and at least two of them require Thumbers or Tomahawks off the Tees with nearly no option for any other drives off the tees. Again this can be addressed with a little more landscaping and even then those signature holes can be left where those types of throws are better, but most tees in DG should allow for a choice of throws from the tee. Minor issue. The staff is wonderfully friendly and knowledgable. Not sure if the course is open to the public, you need to call ahead and ask for Aarron, he will tell you when the course is available and will more than likely meet you for a guide and game.

Note: This is a first time review of an incomplete course, thus the low ranking. Just wanted to help get word out on this new course with an early review. I rank pretty hard and in fairness could not rank this higher in its current stage of development. I will be updating my review as the park gets more play and once the other baskets and holes are put in place the ranking will absolutely increase. Just remember the ranking is based on how it plays right now in comparison with the other parks in the Richmond area. Camp Hanover has the property and potential to one day be a "Grange" type DG course for the Tri Cities area.
