Needs new reviews

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 12, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Now with 18 holes
Decent tee signs
Cement Tee Pads
Most of the course was well kempt

Cons:

Several tee's were located on walking paths.
Kind of a long walk from 18 back to 1

Other Thoughts:

This was a surprisingly decent little course.

with that said, I have to point out there are several DANGERUS spots where other park users will come into play.

Front 6 holes are mostly pitch and putt style around the oldest section of the park, this area is well kept with very green grass. You have large trees and a marsh to deal with.

The 2nd 6 holes are mostly open with one being an Island hole.

Surprise. The course is now 18 holes, (I came expecting 12) The back 6 holes go back across the creek and throw around the rodeo arena.

So based on the other reviews here and why I am doing a review for this course. The course started as a 6 hole course, was expanded to 12 and then to 18. There is a large course map/kiosk by the restrooms at hole 1. There is a short walk from hole 6 to hole 7 across the parking lot.

So while the front 6 are pretty short overall, the back 12 are more like you would expect for a course. The Island hole tee's off from the tree line, but that does not come into play. The Island is about a circle 2 circle and it's marked very well with a concrete circle level with the ground.

The last couple of holes throw into the back section by the Arena. hole 17 tee's off and throws down the sidewalk with the golf course fence on your right and the arena fence on your left. These 2 holes are also 2 of the 3 longest holes on the course.

In general, there is a decent fun factor on this course. While it does have some danger spots, as long as you pay attention to your surroundings, the holes can be fun. But man, if the course is busy with other park users, you are really going to have to watch it and maybe even skip a hole or two.

Would I play here again? Yes, this almost made my "favorite" course of the trip. I love old parks and this one dates back to 1907. They use an old farm bridge to cross the creek. And there is a marker talking about the old Mill Bridge that had to be replaced near the Arena.

Good Beginner With Some Challenges 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 21, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Park is nicely maintained. Recently marked tee areas on sidewalk tees. Damaged tee markers replaced. Six new holes have been added and are very open with lots of Ace possibilities. Not a lot of players in the area so it can be played quickly if need be.

Cons:

Can be some pedestrian traffic at times. The course is a little short for better players. No obstacles on the six new holes except for the ballfield fence.

Other Thoughts:

If you are traveling along US 6/34 in southwest Nebraska stop and check this course out. A nice park for a picnic and two play areas for the kids while you throw. If you plan to play the highly rated Kelly Park in McCook, stop and play this course to warm up.

better than several of the 9 holers. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 18, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Same 6x6 signs seen at Cottonmill and Holdridge.
Hole 2 was a challenging 3 over a large bridge.
Hole 9 throws over marshy area, but 2 trees just feet from the pad have branches hanging down infront of the tee.

Cons:

Tees 5 and 9 could use some tree trimming.
Hole 3 was the only hole with any challenge. all others are easily birdied. A score of 13-14 is acheivable by an advanced players. I birdied all odd numbered holes and made a few mistakes on the even numbered holes and shot -2 (16/18)

Other Thoughts:

This was a fun easy course that can be played very quickly. There is nothing else around, so this course is great for the area, but I can see locals getting tired of this course since you can play it very quickly and master it in a short time.

A must play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I'm giving this course a high review for such a small course, because this is one of the nicest well kept parks plus this is no putt and approach course it takes advantage of the parks landscape, incorporating a bridge, a swamp and several tree's and a few buildings. This place is great for warming up for bigger courses or just a nice place to play some really fun holes.

Cons:

Hole #3 can be a pain to find, it is between the old school house and house with a carport, all holes are marked but not easy to find at first.

Other Thoughts:

Tees 1,3, and 5 are in the grass, tees 2,4,6 are on sidewalks.

Short & Sweet, but fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 19, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Nice course, fun obstacles. Very well kept. Danger of losing a disc on hole 6, as you have to drive over a marshy area.

Cons:

Only 6 holes, and most holes are not very long. May lose your disc on hole 6. Most holes are not very long.
