Fun and Laid Back 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 17, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Easy to find and get to
Big parking Lot
Bathrooms in the park

Large Homemade baskets - Some people might look at this as a negative but for what they are they are pretty decent. They actually catch pretty well even though it looks like you disc is just going to cut right thru and they are at least 1.5x bigger then normal baskets so putting is a lot easier.

Teepads are rubber and teesigns are cheap and not too helpful but at least they have them

They used the small amount of elevation in this park very well for the disc golf course, but sadly holes 1, 2 and 3 are the only ones that can take advantage of it.

This course has a mix of super short, less then 200' holes and some 450+ holes with most in the 300-350 range.

Cons:

Rubber teepads tend to hold water after the rain and rubber in general is just bad. But I will say the grip on these is half way decent.

Teesigns are just the cheap run of the mill signs that give no real information about the hole other then the hole number and the distance

Distances on the teesigns are off on quite a bit of the holes.

Some holes are almost impossible to throw more then 50' off the tee without hitting a tree. The course goes thru the park that has a lot of small to medium trees and the lines they want you to throw are just to low. Most of this could be taken care of if the trees were maintained for disc golf.

A few holes are a bit too close to other things in the park. One hole plays right next to a picnic pavilion, others play close to bathrooms and play areas. I dont have much of an issue with this since I can modify my shots to play around people and I feel confident enough to execute shots but most people would have trouble navigating around people.

Other Thoughts:

Overall the course is fun for what it is. Its not very challenging but it doesnt have to be. The baskets catch your eye right away and make you feel tiny standing next to them. The course could be a lot better if it was manicured a bit for disc golf but the challenge of what it is, is quite fun. If you are up in this next of the woods I wouldnt tell you not to play it but dont expect a whole lot out of it.

Leistikow Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 1, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very nice park. 18 holes that provide a variety of shot types. Trees, water, and even some hills add to the variety. Rubber tee pad are nice but a little too short. If you need you can start your run-up behind them so i didn't mind how short they were. The course is well signed and very easy to navigate. The baskets are big and seem home-made but they catch discs better than I expected them to.

Cons:

Some of the pars are a little too high, but its not too bad. The tee pads are a little short as I said above. The main reason I didn't give this course a higher rating is that on holes 17 and 18 there are picnic tables right in the fairway. There was nobody at them when i played but if there were I could see how it could be a potential safety hazard.

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this course despite the picnic tables in the way on 17 and 18. Most courses I've played in small towns weren't this nice so it was a welcome surprise.

This course was 9 holes but is now 18 holes 2+ years drive by

Pros:

- Pretty, peaceful park with mature trees in some parts. Much of the warm season, there are flower beds near holes 1-7.
- Tees have signs with hole #, distance, par, and fairway layout.
- Tees have rubberized pads.
- Mostly nice lauout uses the levee for elevation change on holes 1-3.
-Trees offer nice obstacle challenge on most holes

Cons:

- Rubberized tees pads are too short.
- The chain baskets used here don't catch discs as well as double chain used in more modern baskets. Still they work fine and their design is a novelty
- Hole 18 is too close to a picnic table. It should be moved closer to the tee to avoid hitting people eating.

Other Thoughts:

The course uses two basket styles, both of which appear homemade. The first 8 holes and hole 18 use and old single chain with a very tall post, about six feet tall. It tends to deflect shots that hit toward the sides of the chains. The remaining holes use a nicer style basket but it's abnormally low. The basket is nearly on the ground.

Pros:

The course is well marked. The first 3 holes use the small hills, very nicely. The rest of the course is flat. There was no waiting for others.

Cons:

I find the homemade baskets, a little to tall. Could use more chain. The Teeboxes are in a rough state. A combow of grass, dirt, rocks & platsic. Safety is a slight problem, on holes 3, throwing across the road.Holes 7,8,& 9, you must watch out for other people. Only had 1 disc that fell out of the bottom of the basket, after the chains caught it.

Other Thoughts:

A very nice park. Room for parking is nice.I subject that you walk the course first, during the daylight. I would like to go back and play again.

Pros:

Absolutely gorgeous park, flowers, very nice grass. Expected short holes but the length was pretty good, relatively challenging.

Cons:

I was planning on rating it higher then got to the last three holes that played dangerously inside a picnic area. Definitely made for some nervous throws. The holes before were fine, however also pretty close to the road in the park.

Other Thoughts:

You thought I was gonna say the baskets were a con, but I was pleasantly surprised. While, yes, they were installed a little tall, the homemade baskets can catch, and were a pretty big target to hit. The whole detour was 1 hour, with just me playing, but was pretty fun and a good experience.

Definitely worth the stop 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Beautiful park. Lots of trees which make getting to the basket a little challenging - which can be fun and frustrating. The baskets must be home made and about 7 feet tall, it was interesting to use them.

Cons:

Some of the pars are a little high. The park could use a few more garbage cans along the course.

Other Thoughts:

I prefer cement tee boxes, but these were covered with a tarp, they were okay, although a little small.

Definitely happy that we stopped in on our way to Grand Forks. Looking forward to playing again on our next trip down.

Uploaded some photos to share.

And I agree with Nitro's review below. Increasing to 18 holes were be great. There does seem to be enough room to do so.

Pros:

The first three holes have fun elevation changes.
Good mix of trees and open areas.

Signs at Tee boxes are very nice.

Cons:

Cement tees would be a great improvement.

Other Thoughts:

Nice looking course. The park is well up kept. The flowers are wonderful in the summer.
There appears to be enough room for 9 more holes, expanding the course would be a great addition.
The baskets were made by some of the high school students. They are very nice, but are a little higher then normal. Makes for some challenging shots. Especially on hole three when the whole is on the top of a dike, not giving you a safe landing for a miss.
