Safety Police Will Arrest You For Playing Here 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 20, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has mostly open-holes, with OB and water. The hole lengths were really good. The grass tee areas are well maintained. #8 plays with a great elevation change by having the basket on top of a very big hill in the center of the park. This is a beautiful park and it has great parking.

Cons:

The baskets are x-large, homemade, with 8 very wide chains that are not effective. The disc can hit the thick center pole and even bounce out. Basically you have to lob a putt to make sure it sticks. The tee signs are the poles with some homemade maps on them. The maps are only still on a few of the tees. #9 is not even marked like the other tees. It is the top of the hill where #8 basket is. As far as navigation is concerned, even after studying the map, I still had a tough time finding all the tees and baskets.

Now, I will give you the real reason for this rating. This park is full of kids even on a weekday. Many of the holes are where people are. The playground is in play on hole 2. The walking paths are close on a few holes and #9 basket is on the other side of a park bench. There were kids everywhere and there is no way you should play this course when there are kids present. The safety issue here is crazy. Holes along the outfield of the baseball fields will certainly come into play with water to the right of the same fairway. So, unless you are going to play at sunrise, I would not visit this course. After reading the other review, I just had to see for myself if it was really that bad. IT IS!

Other Thoughts:

The Fun Factor for me was horrid. Waiting until there might be a safe time to throw can really wear you out. Someone is going to get hurt, if people don't know what they are doing and lose control of their disc just once. Plus, the baskets are ridiculous and beyond frustration. I say stay away from here, but if you have to play here, make it really early morning.

Wow....... 2+ years drive by

Pros:

It's a disc golf course in a nice looking park with one shot that plays up a hill to a basket that is on a large mound, where if you miss you'll have a long putt coming back.

Cons:

Pretty much everything about the park was bad. I will start with the baskets. Each basket is homemade and about twice the regular diameter but with only 8 chains. This makes it nearly impossible to make a shot from any sort of distance.
Next, the layout is just terrible. There was not a single safe shot on the whole course. I skipped holes 1 and 9 because there was a gathering of people in a shelter about 15 feet from hole 1's basket and hole 9's basket is roughly 5 feet from the parking lot with cars parked right next to it. A couple of the other holes had you throwing over paths and playgrounds, as well as tees for the next hole, with a few holes throwing right over ball fields.
Another awful part was the tee signs. There were two tee signs on each hole that you were apparently supposed to tee off of in between. The problem with this was that these signs were tall enough that you could hit your hand on them, so it messed with your run up. One hole had a tree about 5 feet back from the tee right in the middle of your run up.
The map was pretty terrible, the flow was bad, baskets were awful, danger was everywhere.

Other Thoughts:

This was without a doubt the worst course I have ever played in my entire life. I would not wish this upon anybody. The area is beautiful but they need to have a real course designer come through so it's not so dangerous for the kids. Also another layer of chains, or two, would help a lot as the baskets are giant sized, which leaves more space in between chains. I had a putt hit the center post and bounce back out without hitting a single chain.

All in all do not go here under any circumstance.
