Could be slowly improving?

Reviewed: Played on:May 14, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

From what WB said, it may be at least improving. The course of once 4 targets is now up to 8, mainly chainstars with a couple of Disc catchers mixed in. Baskets all seem to be in good repair.

While this little school course is not anything to write home about, it is a decent place for students and local players to learn and hone their games before tackling the more difficult local 18 hole courses.

There are some signs that tell you distance and the hole number as well as a few mando markers.

Some of the designs are even pretty good, using the available trees, the billboard supports and the entry road to decent effect.

Cons:

It's a basic plot of flat land and if there were more than 8 players on the course it would be pure chaos. Four of the baskets play back to themselves to make a different hole from the opposite direction so it could be dangerous at times.

Navigation is a little weird, if you don't look at the map here or on Udisc you might get turned around. Even then you still could.

Signs have a few missing/damaged and are very basic.

I liked them, but there are two 400+ par threes that would torture the courses target market.

Other Thoughts:

For a flat little plot of land on a school property, it's not so bad. I've seen way worse.

It cloud also be a ton better with some basic tweaks to the design and some better tees and signs. I'm sure this is one persons or a couple of peoples labor of love and for that, they should be thanked.

I75 Bagger Opportunity 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 16, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

(1.165 Rating) (REVISED - replayed March 2020) 2 additional baskets were added in the summer of 2019.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - The most beginner friendly course in town. No water and limited overgrowth areas. The odds of losing a disc due to an errant shot is near impossible. Players would have to leave one behind on accident to lose one.
- CHAINS - They are in good condition. Four of them are DISCatchers, and the 2 new ones are Chainstars if I recall correctly.
- GROW THE SPORT - No doubt will these baskets aid in growing the sport by offering easy access to learn the game on school grounds.

Cons:

6 basket course issues.
- REUSED BASKETS - The course has 12 tees and it sort-of plays in reverse after hole (6). This is going to cause issues if multiple groups are on the course. Thankfully no one was here when I replayed it and its likely also a low traffic course.
- # OF BASKETS - Now 6 baskets instead of 4, but that's still only 6.
- CHARACTER - Basically just baskets in a field and light woods. The tees were recently upgraded to concrete tile, but natural ground may have been better as I teed to the side several times. The tee signs are simple but work for this set-up.
- RAW BEAUTY - A mix of park style shots and open field shots. No elevation or water features. The course is located right next to I75, so the roar of the road will constantly be heard.

Other Thoughts:

I had originally scored this course a zero as it had degraded to just four baskets in an overgrown field. Fast forward three years later, 2 more donated baskets and a layout posted online to follow. That's not a zero in my opinion, hence this revision after my re-visit. The course will work great for those in the neighborhood or for those attending the school. For everyone else, nearby courses Jonesville and Northside will run circles around this one. I'd check out one of those before heading hear if passing thru on I75. Overall I've scored it a high 1.0, but I'd easily bump it to the 1.5 level if I ignored the fairway and basket reuse issues.
- LAYOUT NOTES - The tee pad for hole 1 and 9 is the first parking lot spot. The parking lot is OB. Hole (5) and (7) is an island green with a re-tee penalty for missing.
- MAINTENANCE - 50/50? The grounds had not been mowed when I stopped by in 2017 but it was completely mowed on my revisit in 2020.
- NAVIGATION - Without a map I could see some first time players straying the wrong direction. Nothing so difficult that a little scouting won't solve. I posted a revised map on DGCR.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Though this more of a practice area than a course, it is possible to play from hole to hole here. Essentially tee off in the area of the previous basket and you can play a quick set of three easy holes. (I never found a fourth basket.) It's too bad there isn't a fourth one somewhere that would allow you to loop the baskets, because playing from 3 to 1 is just the reverse of the third and second fairways. In essence, it's a nice, open area to throw discs with a few baskets.

The first hole, teeing off from where I parked, is actually quite long, with some rough to the right of the cleanly-mowed fairway. The basket is tucked into the woods near the edge of the property with some trees making some approached difficulty.

The second, from the first basket, continues the trend of rough dominating the right of the fairway, but it's much shorter.

The third is the coolest hole here, with a nice curve necessary to place a shot well or a thick evergreen will block the path to the basket.

After playing those three, I emptied my bag, throwing back across the field towards my car.

Cons:

It's....a practice area. Really not worth the time to drive to if you have an empty field anywhere closer. Then again, it does increase your play count. So by all means, spend ten minutes on the way back from Jonesville and check the course off your list.

This is not a disc golf course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Four baskets provide a place to come practice.

Cons:

Four baskets do not make a course.

Other Thoughts:

This should not be listed on the site. Don't waste your time.

I'm sure I'll get dinged as "not helpful", but the point is that I don't want anyone to waste their time driving to check this out or even reading a lengthy description of the property.

I am the one and only 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 27, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a place to come practice on decent baskets or have a shootout with some friends. Its wide open with one hole tucked back in some trees. Maybe use the billboard that runs along I-75 as an obstacle. All you have going here is imagination.

Cons:

This is really no more than a practice ground with no clear tee markings.

Other Thoughts:

4 baskets. Play them as you like. Seems like the people who work here don't mind just don't be here during school hours which must be weekdays until at least 3?
