Great Course to Improve Your Game 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 24, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Concrete tee pads
Great navigation. No more than a 50-100 foot walk from basket to next tee
Good mix of righty/lefty holes
Course always in great shape

Cons:

Only two holes where a driver is really necessary
No signs telling you the distance of each hole

Other Thoughts:

This course improved my putting and midrange game immensely. It is a quick round (especially since it's only 9 holes), so I would play 3 rounds in an hour with some of my friends. If you want to test out your new driver, go somewhere else. But if you want to improve your game, go play a few rounds and learn how to throw your midrange and putter better.

Fun City Park Type 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Tees are marked and the natural tees are adequate for the distance and power needed on a course of this length
-Nice Innova Baskets
-Good amount of trees for a beginner to intermediate course. Also a creek that could come into play.
-Good variation of length, some ace runs and some bomber holes. No holes too easy or too hard.
-Hole 4 was quite challenging with a mess of trees between the tee and basket and the little creek running along the left side of the fairway.
-Good flow, easy to navigate
-Won't lose a disc here.
-Good to teach beginners the game without making it too easy
-The little bits of elevation made some of the shorter easier holes a bit harder and more fun.

Cons:

-Natural tees, they work just fine but concrete tees are always a plus
-No signage other than a hole number. It was easy enough to navigate but I like a distance too.
-There were a few other park users out and about that you might have to watch out for. Not a real problem tho.
-This course is definitely designed to challenge the beginning player without making him too frustrated. It would be ideal for a lower intermediate player. If you are a pro you probably won't have too much fun here.

Other Thoughts:

This is the better of the two courses in the area. I had fun here with a bit of challenge for a city park 9 hole. I would stop by if you are in the area or are planning a road trip through this part of the state but don't travel too far to get here. It is a city park course after all.

Souix Center DGC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 16, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-family friendly
-easy to play par becaue of some short open holes.
-many interesting holes, given what the designers had to work with this is close to the best they could have done
-good use of things like trees and buildings to make the course challenging enough to be fun to play
-easy to play through quickly

Cons:

-there are no tee pads
-no signs just posts marking the next hole so you dont know the distances.
-it is only 9 holes so you usually end up playing through it twice
-lacks the use of distance on all but one hole
-kind of easy for an experianced player

Other Thoughts:

This was a fun course to play, one of the best short 9 hole courses I have played in awhile.

Great for the College Kids 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 16, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice new Innova baskets (my personal favorite)

Good variation of tree species, heights and widths come into play. There is also a stream that can come into play on Hole 6 and 7.

Decent shot variation with a few chances to throw overhand shots as well as rollers.

Cons:

No signs or distances

No concrete tee pads (though the grass pads are still in decent shape)

Buildings and private yards could come into play and be dangerous for players with some power, but a lack of accuracy. However it shouldn't be an issue for better players, or complete noobs who can't throw past 150 ft yet.

Other Thoughts:

My brother goes to Dordt College so I just played this course about 4 times this morning before seeing his play and to be honest I had a lot of fun!! The fun started when my 13 yr old brother aced the first hole and then continued when I threw I nice skip shot on #2 that came in behind the pines and hit the pole.

This is a mostly short course, but with a few unique holes. (#6 was quite fun with a stream running nearby. I tried thumbers, rollers and spike hyzers on this hole with my thumbers producing the most birdies)

Some Mando's and out-of-bounds could go a long way to keeps things both safe fun. I hope that they'll take that into consideration if they ever made signs.

#5 was probably the only "long" hole, I'm guessing around 340'-360', but #6 and #8 offer great chances at overhand shots and spike hyzers. I birdied every hole here during the course of playing threw it 4 times and was delighted at how many different kinds of shots I was able to throw for a 9 hole course

This course will give better players a chance to "show off" a bit with some ace runs and chances to throw some specialty shots (thumbers, tomahawks, rollers, spike hyzers etc.) but more importantly it gives the Dordt college kids something to do in this little town! I know it's been nice for my brother to be able to run 10 minutes from campus, get a round in and run back and I'd like to thank whoever initiated this project. It's easy to see that this course has already been well used and well loved by the locals.

Short family friendly course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 16, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Decent use of terrain and shot variety. Clever used of stream on holes 5 and 6.

Cons:

Open areas could have been better used for a few more wide open shots. Hole 8 should be changed immediately because it is a crowded shot with a building just to the left. A window will be broken very soon.
Hole 2, though cleverly placed may be frustrating for those who don't want to get caught putting from under a pine tree.
Hole 5 may cause you to end up in someone's backyard or playground if your shots fade too far to the left.

Other Thoughts:

A fun short course that is bound to get some attention. Nothing fancy, but not terrible.
