Beaumont Ranch 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 14, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Located on a working ranch that has a number of activities. It's a private course, but they'll usually let you play for free if you contact them in advance. Colored tee marker goes with the same color basket. There are trees, water and elevation.

Cons:

The course is unmaintained. Grass stays unmowed. A number of the tee markers are missing or fallen over. The basket for seven is gone.
The holes are too long for guests who have never played, and not interesting enough for anybody else.

Other Thoughts:

There is potential on this land for a very good course, but they need to either put some work into it, or do away with it. Right now it's just there and no real effort is put into it.

Very Cool! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 7, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

No one plays here. Great restaurant on site. Longhorns and cattle and horses roam freely on the course. Ziplineing available for a fee. color coded t's and goals.

Cons:

high grass unmowed.

Other Thoughts:

It's a working ranch. It's awesome. The course is there as an activity for guests, but the ranch is kind enough to let the public play for free. Lots of bluebonnets in the spring.

Disc Golf Texas Style 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 29, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Color coded tee and baskets made it easy to know where to throw.
Nice open, very hard to lose a disc.
Great place to take a friend visiting from out of town.

Cons:

Was hard to find on the property. Had to stop at the office and ask directions. Playing through a small herd of Long Horn Cattle can be a bit unnerving. Cow Dung. No Tee Boxes.

Other Thoughts:

Now the closest course to my home so that makes is nice. 9 holes it is easy to play a quick game. Have to drive through the old west town to get to the first tee. Not dog Friendly. Not Stroller Friendly.
Since it is on private property remember to be good and safe so they don't close it to the public.

A Nine Hole Utopia 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 25, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Private property so the course is quiet. Lots of extra amenities like a full service restaurant and bar right beside the course. Only two miles from the highway, so you can easily add this course to your travels. Color coordinated baskets to make it easy to find your way. Red tee throws to red basket, pink tee throws to pink basket, etc. Horses and big longhorn cows roam freely on the course. I think this adds some genuine Texas style that I haven't seen since the private course in Stephenville (RIP). Nice elevation changes and lots of big bomb shots.

Cons:

Rough terrain to walk. Lots of thorny bull nettle and cow pies. However, if you've misplaced your mini the cattle have supplied several replacements for your convenience. Not a lot of shade, but no big deal.
The different colored baskets are helpful and look great, but the black and green baskets are a little difficult to identify at first. As mentioned above there are longhorns on the course, and while I enjoyed the ambiance they provided I don't think I would have had the balls to approach one if my drive had landed close to them.

Other Thoughts:

I will be returning to this course. The atmosphere is amazing. Everyone make sure to call ahead of time before planning on visiting. They are very nice and are not charging to access their private course, so as long as we respect them this should not change.
