Pros:

UW Platteville has been on my radar for years now. I just haven't madi it out this way yet. It was worth the wait. Fun college campus course, one of the better ones I've played in WI for sure.

There's concrete tee pads on every hole. These are still in solid shape for the most part. The tees are nicely sized and are for sure better than natural tees on a hilly course like this.

The baskets are DGA Mach X's. These are nice baskets. Not my favorite but better than a lot of others out there. These all have a metal number plate attached to the top which is very helpful in quite a few spots where more than one basket is visible off the tee. One pin position per hole from what I could tell. No complaints with these.

The terrain is perfect for disc golf. The first three holes play flatish, after that the hills come into play for the rest of the course. Lots of up and downhill shots with plenty of roll away potential on a bunch of them. The latter half also plays more wooded too. Not on every hole but more than enough to keep it interesting.

The flow of the course is pretty easy to follow for the most part. The walk from hole 3 to 4 is the longest and wouldn't be real obvious if I didn't have a map with me. Finding 16's tee wasn't immediately obvious either, but there's really only one direction it could be, back toward the parking area.

The tee signs are decent. Hole number, basic hole map, par and distance. All the pertinent info you really need.

Cons:

The tee pads are my biggest gripe here. All the good things I said above are true. Some of these things are on such a steep angle it's borderline ridiculous. I don't recall ever seeing concrete pads this unlevel anywhere else. Very strange. I'm glad it was warm and dry when I played.

A parking permit is required between 8-4 on weekdays. We got there at 3 and had to download an app to pays for a permit. Not that it took that long, but still annoying.

The rough off the fairway can get pretty gnarly in a few places. Lost plastic is a very real possibility here. The wife sailed one long on the downhill hole 10 and it's a borderline miracle we found it. There's a few other areas around that section that were thick and nasty.

The course is crammed into a pretty small area for 18 holes. Not the safest design I've ever seen. This was fine today as we were the only people out there. I imagine during the school year this place gets pretty busy. There's crossing fairways, holes that play extremely close to each other, and you throw over the walking path a few times.

I wasn't a fan of the concrete circles underneath each basket either. I've only ever seen this a few times and not only is it hideous looking but it'll scuff up your discs if you play here alot, especially base line plastics that most people putt with.

Other Thoughts:

Even with all the cons I listed I still really enjoyed my round out here. I'd imagine it can be melee if it's busy though.

Definitely worth a spin if you find yourself out this way. It's by far the best option in the area as far as WI options go.

Campus Course

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 25, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Good variety of shots.
- Mach X's are great.
- Great use of elevation changes.
- Some great safari holes.

Cons:

- Lots of intersections with campus pathways.
- Some tee pads are honestly unsafe to play from, just play from the sidewalk nearby on 4 and 17.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a decent campus course. It has it's downsides (outlined in the cons section) but at the end of the day it's a very fun course.

Shocking Development! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 10, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good use of Terrain. The holes that were open for play were nice.

Cons:

They are introducing GOATS....Yes, the creatures that eat everything...into the "woods" that are in the center of this course. This is to eliminate some Invasive Plant Species. The goats will be penned in by an ELECTRIC FENCE. They were going to be turning it on today. there are quite a few holes where it would be easy to lose a disc over the fence. There is no access through the fence once it is turned on.

Hole 7.....if you throw it to the left....your disc is gone for good due to the new electric fence surrounding the woods.

Hole 9...Go easy on this hole. If you throw it 20 feet past the basket on your blind tee shot, you disc will go over the new electric fence. It would take a 280-290 foot throw off the tee pad to lose your disc.

Hole 10...There is a goat pen 15 feet to the left of the basket and it would be VERY easy to lose your disk in there. Don't play it!

Holes 12 & 13 are completely Closed, Baskets Removed, and tee pads inaccessible due to the goats.

Hole 14...If you yank it hard to the left....you guessed it....over the electric fence.

Other Thoughts:

I was really looking forward to this course. I am in the area for work. I stopped by the course late last night and there were no signs up warning about the impending electric fence installation. I spoke to one person that was working with the goats and she said that the goat pen on 10 will be there at least 3 weeks. She did not know how long the electric fence would be up.

Sad.

Quite nice campus course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 23, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

18 hole course that winds around an open area in the middle of campus.

Concrete tees, one per hole. Long enough, but with some issues...more on that below. One tee per hole.

DGA baskets, all in decent enough shape, and caught well. One pin position per hole. Some nice pin placements; many spots invite rollaways and other dangers.

Nice use of the available elevation throughout the course. You'll throw up, down, and across several valleys and hilltops.

Just a touch of water, in the form of a quite disgusting retention pond on the right of hole 13. You'd have to throw pretty poorly to get in there, but we saw a few frisbees that got wet. The water was disgusting enough that even poor college kids didn't want to go in to get their lost discs.

I wouldn't call this course heavily wooded, but there's a smattering of well placed, mature trees to knock you down on several holes.

Manicured just fine, with a nice mix of hole directions to test most players. Not overly difficult, so beginners will still have fun here.

Small, basic signage. Navigation isn't always intuitive, but we found our way around pretty well.

Cons:

The tee pads are kind of a mess. Too many of them are set on hillsides and slanted...especially down. There is also some erosion on several of them, which has them crumbling in places.

Plenty of safety hazards, with walking paths winding through much of the course. Stay on the alert and don't kill somebody.

Decent mix of distance, but there's nothing here you'd really consider a true bomber. Possibly hole 3, I guess...

A few holes play next to a cemetery, with real risks of discs flying in or under the fence.

Other Thoughts:

All in all, a pretty solid course. Easily the best course in an area with not much else to offer, plus, college campuses tend to have nice scenery in the warmer months.

Maybe not something to drive out of your way for, but definitely worth a spin if you're in the immediate area.

A genuinely fun course to play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 3, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- excellent use of elevation and woods. Overall the course has a "park course" feel, but plenty of trees to get in the way and force a variety of shots. You will likely use all of your shots here, and there is a solid variety of hole distances to keep things interesting. In my opinion, a great level of challenge for an intermediate player.
- new baskets. Mach X's that are wonderful; lots and lots of chains to catch discs. These replaced home-made baskets in the past year.
- concrete teepads (however see cons)
- pretty well-maintained, fairway grass never gets too long
- attractive, useful signs on all holes, except 16. The listed pars are kind of a joke. Seems like most people play them all as par threes.

Cons:

- can be crowded at times, especially when students are on campus. Be prepared, but this is fair if you consider that this is, first and foremost, a college campus.
- parking can be challenging during peak class times.
- teepads are a bit short, and a couple are heavily sloped on hills. It can get in your head.
- things get thick in the summer so really pay attention to any errant shots. Losing discs is a real possibility.
- water only comes into play if you have a truly terrible shot.
- not sure if there is room for alternate teepads on most holes, but I would love to see alternate basket placements implemented.
- trash/recycling cans would be nice.

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoy this course. It is a ton of fun to play, however prepare yourself to wait on some folks walking through. It is a great course, but doesn't quite have that "serious disc golf course" feel like some of the Madison courses.

Bo Ryan's Home Course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 29, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course offers the challenges of both distance and highly technical short holes that are made so by both dense foliage and some fairly extreme elevations changes that make disc selection very difficult (I had an ace run on the blind downhill #6 once that lost my beloved purple Omega Supersoft forever by being a mere 15 feet past the green).

It can be windy, further adding to the challenge, and there is a certain mando that will frustrate all righties and even the lefty that it is designed for (the uphill, protected green is a challenge even if you complete the mando and have a good lie in the fairway).

The course was once much more difficult due ot a lack of tee pads that made reaching uphill 210 foot holes impossible, but that has been corrected and there are great pads now and good signage.

Cons:

The only con is that it is on the campus and you have to watch out for students on the first 5 holes, but it's pretty smooth sailing after that.

Other Thoughts:

It's a pretty beautiful piece of land for something in a city and on a college campus, and I have never failed to be fully engaged by the challenge and variety of this course.

Definite 4.0 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 29, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

There is no doubt in my mind that this is a 4.0 course.

The design, layout, and terrain is awesome! There is a great variety in shots, the course flows incredibly intuitively from hole to hole, and the land is wooded and hilly. It's an incredibly fun round of disc golf and is attractive for beginners and pros alike. I highly recommend checking it out!

The equipment is incredible as well. The maps at each hole are very descriptive, the concrete tees are great even in wet conditions, and holy shiz the Mach X's seem to be sent from the disc golf gods.

I had an absolute blast playing here and wish I would have had more time to play another few rounds.

The mix of ace runs, bomber holes, left/right, up/down was fantastic. Mega props to the design team and to the maintenance team for this course!

Cons:

a) Where the hell are you supposed to park your car? Trying to access this course as an outsider was incredibly difficult! We ended up parking in a permit only zone and got lucky that we didn't get ticketed. Granted, we went during school hours on a week day, so maybe it's not that bad on a weekend.

b) Kids everywhere! Again, playing during school hours, they were criss-crossing all over the place and it was slightly distracting. Some of the course plays over side walks, so you may need to be careful sometimes.

Other Thoughts:

I highly enjoyed and recommend this course. I love hilly/wooded courses, so this course hit my sweet spot. Great for beginners and pros alike! Check it out!

This course got me hooked 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 27, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Plenty of interesting looks that present modest to medium difficulty but never get boring.

Plan for every shot in the arsenal to be used: backhand, forehand, tomahawk, etc. This course challenges even the experienced disc golfer.

Most of the holes #1,2,4,6,8,9,10,11,12-15,17,18 can be reached by one shot if you can throw (300 ft) give or take.

A few longer holes like 3,5,7,12 (has the dogleg right) &16 are unreachable by most accounts.

Make a mistake here and you will get punished by many thick weeds that inhibit the holes along the creek-side. That's the way it should be. Classic examples are holes 7,8,12,13.

Scenery is phenomenal accompanied by steep valleys, a thin forest which make use of some trees, a creek that plays into a few holes. Simply put, breathtaking scenery when you reach the back nine and see the vast open expansion of land with varying dimensions of altitude.

Garbage cans at most holes, fully detailed signs, concrete tee pads, the course has the infrastructure available. Very easy to navigate. Didn't see any restrooms around but plenty of room for nature.

Cons:

The course can be difficult to access for first timers. I suggest looking at a map or asking for help if you get lost.

Some students can get a bit rowdy as they tend to forget the proper etiquette of disc golf (screaming, not letting people pass, etc)

Course surrounds the campus so students are walking around in the way of many shots surrounding the bike path. Therefore, you must wait at certain junctions which is frustrating and can kill your momentum.

A few holes have blind shots where you can't see where your disc went. I spent approximately 25 minutes searching for my disc on two holes (I found it), it helps to have a spotter.

Other Thoughts:

I just really love this course for many reasons. Generally, you can expect to find more than a few groups playing which adds to the excitement of the atmosphere. I have been to some courses that are essentially cemeteries; even though the layout is magnificent.

One reviewer felt that this course was not worthy of hosting a tournament. I must disagree wholeheartedly. In fact, I saw many amateurs struggling mightily during my round. While the course is ripe for opportunity it still presents a modest challenge for all skill levels.

A Piggly Wiggly Supermarket exists a few miles away that offers many choices for food and drinks. I picked up some delicious cheese curds beforehand and enjoyed them on the course.

Fun course on Campus 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 21, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Fun holes great piece of land with elevation changes. one hole that has stuck in my mind was hole 8 long drive with a putt for a duece opportunity. The hills are important to this course and create some blind tee shots which create some nice ace opportunities.

Cons:

I feel that this course is dangerous. Especially when you have a couple different holes playing to a central area of the park with 2 teepads and 1 baskets seperated by 30 feet. I played this course on an early summer Saturday and Sunday morning and only people I saw where some elderly people out for a stroll on the paved walking paths which you throw over more than once in the design. If I was here when other people where on the course my feeling might have changed.

Other Thoughts:

enjoying shots and nice elevation make this course a quick and easy play could use updated signage to help with routing. No way you could run a big event on this course with the amount of holes close by each other in the middle of the park.

Decent course on beautiful campus 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very well designed course in a pristine setting. This was my first course in Wisconsin, and all I can say is that I hope all the land is a gorgeous as it is in the southwestern part of the state.

The course plays behind a couple dormitories through some fairly hilly and sprawling grassland. There is a deep rut worn through the middle that is heavily wooded, but unfortunately the course plays around it rather than in it. Overall, the course design really uses the land it was given, and while it is a bit cramped in spots, I have a feeling it was more because of the campus restrictions than designer error. There is more than enough room to spread the course out a bit, but it would infringe on land laid out for other activities.

One of the biggest pros here is the use of elevation - nearly every hole uses it to some extent, with many downhill shots off the tee and even a few uphill drives mixed in. There is great variety in length here as well, with some of the longer holes over 400' and one or two ace runs of just over 150'.

Great care has been taken into the course, which is evident by the well manicured fairways and controlled rough. There are signs on every tee but one (looks like it was cut down), and not only do they show the path to the basket, but when needed, they show the course map so you know where to go next. Very cool. While I didn't see any trash cans, there were a couple of homemade benches held up by chain swings, adding some charm to the place. In short, I was expecting a lot worse for a course that is over 20 years old. Honestly, the only thing that gave away its age were the baskets. The majority of them are in good shape, with double hung chains providing plenty of grab. And each has a big circle on top with the hole number outline welded into it, easily distinguishing one from another when you're on the tee. On about half the actual basket catcher itself is dented or rusted, or the welds have just plain given way, and there were one or two where one of the chains had rusted through and hung out of the bottom. But nothing a few minor repairs couldn't fix.

The first three holes play in front of a dorm out by the road and have you shooting out under a canopy of aged trees. It can be a bit windy for these, but that is your biggest obstacle, as there is no underbrush in sight. These holes serve as a nice warm up before you head behind the building and into the hilly area.

Once back, you basically travel up one side of a valley and down the other, cutting across once or twice to break up the walk. Most shots have medium to tight fairways but offer plenty of forgiveness if you go astray of the fairway. One of my favorites was #5, which is a decent downhill shot with a tight landing area to set up your approach. #11 & #12 play at the farthest point from your car, along a tiny stream/river that offers more scenery than any actual threat to your drive. The last six holes give you a view on one of the oddest things I've ever seen: a fenced in cemetery smack in the middle of campus. I'm sure there's a story here, but damned if I know how a college sprung up around that.

Cons:

CONS
Really not a lot of cons here, but I'll list some things that are keeping it from being rated higher:
I mentioned above that the land itself could've been utilized more. Have one or two holes cut into the ravine and woods, instead of playing around them. There really isn't a "wooded" hole on this course...maybe #13? Even that one is a pretty wide open dog leg through to a big clearing and the pin.
Again, I felt the course could've been spread out a bit more; there is plenty of room to expand, especially at the back, like after #12, or shoot over the creek river before turning around. Because of this, the whole place feels cramped, and while I played on a summer day when campus was deserted, I could easily see issues when multiple groups are out playing. The first and last three holes zig-zag back and forth and the fairways overlap, making a hazard and kind of a dull way to begin and end your round. In addition, some of the shorter holes definitely could (and should) have been lengthened; there are too many lazy birdies to be had.
While I loved the use of elevation, I did not enjoy the fact that the tee pads sloped along with the hill. So if you're shooting downhill, you're stepping downhill, which is not only dangerous, but alters the angle of your shot as well. Several of my drives went into the dirt or, when I tried to correct for the angle, shot sky high because I overcompensated.
I don't know if this is a con or not, but the course wasn't very challenging. Sure, there were some tricky moments, but I wouldn't put this course on the level of some of the 4+ star rated courses I've played. Maybe this is due to the layout restrictions or the age of the course, but this isn't somewhere I would go out of the way to play.

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice, quaint course for a fun round. The atmosphere is great, and I think is probably heightened when class is in session. Hell, I wish my college had a course when I went there. Overall, UW-Platteville is a three-star course with an extra .5 tossed in for creativity and vision. I just wish they could have/would have taken it one step farther than they did. I will probably play this one again next time I'm out that way.

Cons:

Its on UW-Plattevilles campus and because of this there are a lot of kids who do not know how to play and this leads to people getting large groups to play and tey take a long time and do not let you play through. Pros:

I really enjoyed this course.A beautiful campus with lots of mature trees of many varieties. Great use of elevation. It was well marked with course signs posted periodically and the course flowed well finishing up by hole 4. The first 3 holes aren't anything spectacular, but once you get to the back part of the campus (behind Glenview Dining Hall) things improve drastically. Lots of variation in hole lengths with elevation changes, dog legs L & R (some blind). I think I threw every shot I have resulting in using about every disc in my bag. Holes 11 & 12 are along a beautiful creek, but no risk of losing a disc here or anywhere on the course really. Overall a pretty challenging course and very fun to play. It was really windy the day I played this course, but it wasn't a factor on the back part of the course with all the tress and hills. I would toss this one again in a heartbeat!

uwp course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 15, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course has a few very interesting doglegs that are unique in comparison to all the other courses I've played. Hole number 5 being the most extreme, is almost a 90 degree dogleg first throwing down into a dip to try to get around the corner, then another throw 150 more feet up a steep hill. This hole is very hard to get a 3 on, making it one of the hardest holes I've ever played. There is a nice variation in hole length, and very very few of the holes seem repetitious. I like this course because it allows me to use every single shot type I have in my arsenal. A lot of hole require a well placed anheiser shot to achive a 3. The signs are well made, although the directionals on the tee and basket placement could be a little more accurate.

Cons:

Many of the tee pads are angled up or downhill making for some dangerous footing if you're a power thrower. Some of the holes have baskets placed in the fairway of another hole, which makes being observant key to not getting drilled with a disc. Also, the baskets are very old, custom made by the school sometime between 1979 and 1983. Because of this, some of the chains are old, and don't catch as well as newer baskets do. I have also seen some disc fall out of the bottome of the basket after a shot made. I played yesterday, and on hole five the actual basket itself fell down the pole and rested on the ground. Hopefully, this will be fixed soon. The only other con I can think of is that because the course is on campus( a great, great thing), there are many times large groups of young discers ( 8 to 10 in a group) who don't understand the ethics of letting smaller groups or single players play through. If you've ever been playing alone and been behind a group of 8, with half of them throwing tomahawks on EVERY single throw...you know the aggravating slow pace that can hold up your game.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this course is very enjoyable, with many options on throws on a lot of the holes. Play them all as 3's and you've got one challenging course. There is an intramural sport disc golf league for students. Awesome.

Another great UW course!!! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 28, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Big concrete pads makes this course much more playable.

2) Practice basket near the first tee, always a welcome sight.

3) Set in the heart of campus so the usage on this course is high I am sure, but the accessibility is huge right next to all of the dorms. I happened to play on freshman move in day. All I know is if I had this in college I probably would be working for QVC or in a carnival somewhere, or perhaps I maybe would have joined the circus!!!

4) Benches available at different times through the course and garbage cans available in a few spots too.

5) Nice signs with a general layout, par, and distance. A nice sign commemorating the people who helped get this awesome course installed. That was a nice touch, but I maybe would have put it behind a basket or near the first tee, rather than in the middle of the fairway. They did make mention of it on the 3rd tee sign so I am sure a lot of people end up looking at it.

6) Tight fairways and moderate elevation changes really create a nice challenge here. I am sure playing multiple times would make this decision making process much easier, but regardless there is some real thought that needs to come into play on many shots.

7) Although the baskets leave a little to be desired they do have number plates and they are pointed n the right direction to figure out which hole is which. SOme but not all are painted in a bright color.

8) Trees are of utmost importance on this course and the design is wonderful. They create all of the challenge especially when used in combination with the elevation changes on this course.

9) I never expected the river to be in play but it truly is. I happened to catch the last peninsula on #11, 3 feet short or 3 feet long and my disc was gone. I led to a bogey but I am ok with that. It's always nice to have some form of water on the course. It normally wouldn;t be much of an issue and I am sure I would never end up there again, but it was in play today and I love it. BTW it was flowing quickly.

10) Overall it is clear to me disc golfers helped install this. It is supremely designed and takes all the key features of this campus area into account. I love the use of elevation of going up and down the valley multiple times. I also think the design of the tighter wooded holes was very well done. All in all just a great design which really makes the course fun even if it was tough!

Cons:

1) Old homemade baskets leave a little to be desired, but I am sure vandalism would be huge on a college campus. Perhaps that is the reason many of the baskets are all bent up.

2) Danger comes into play on a few tee and basket locations. #6 basket, #7 tee and #15 tee are all pretty tightly placed on the property. An errant drive that hyzers out quickly on #6 could hit someone on either tee. It literally isn't more than 45' in between the three places in a triangle. That will lead to an issue down the road if it hasn't already. #16 tee also throws right over the top of #5 basket . . . and #17 tee throws right over #16 basket . . . .never a good idea. The other trouble area is located between #10 basket, 11 tee and 12 fairway. There are likely to be some injuries on these holes over the years because of errant shots on #10 or #12.

3) Erosion is a problem on multiple areas of the course especially just off teepads and around baskets. Fortunately the baskets all have a 3' diameter ring of concrete, so they will never get ripped out of the ground. There are many places where if you went off the end of the tee you might break and ankle.

4) Many of the concrete tees are not level, this creates an extar factor to consider when throwing as your body is in a way different position than it would be normally. Adjust accordingly or you will have some errant shots, and the teeshots are critically important here! Many of the tee pads are cracked and damaged on top of the sloping issues.

Other Thoughts:

A local UWP student who works for me told me that the garbage cans are set up perfectly for beer drinking. I am not sure but I carry 16 discs and 2 putters, I couldnt carry as many beers as I think she is referring to. Regardless I thought it was an interesting anecdote because if I went to school here and lived in the dorms (right next to the course) I may not have graduated, I would have ended up a "carny", in the circus, or a QVC employee.

I still enjoy this one 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 24, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This marks the fourth time I've been to the U.W. Platteville course over a span of 15 years. From my first visit, and including this last round here; I am pleasantly reminded that I find this course charming.
Use of elevation is one of this course's main assets.
New tee signs are informative and give the impression that things are on the upgrade mode here.

Cons:

Overall length not quite up to modern standards.
Tees are concrete; but are quite old and crumbling in some cases. Also, there are quite a few that are slanted up or down hill. I personally, find this to be part of an interesting design; that used to be used much more often. However, modern players rarely see this design feature and do not like it when they do. There are some injury danger aspects to this style of tee pads.
Homemade buckets. A few spit outs amongst our group of five. I did not have any myself; and again, I find different style buckets to be charming. These hold very well IMOH for old homemade baskets; and I believe they require a little more touch when putting. However, for the modern player who drives every putt home with AUTHORITEE!; these will be considered to be a little weak.
Buckets have recently been repainted with silver paint; and visually look pretty good.
As with all school courses; you will have to play around students to some extent.
School had begun when we came this time. Parking was extremely full. Both of our vehicles parked in a lot which said by permit only; as all spaces on the road were completely used up. The good part is that we got no ticket. Bad part is that you hate to begin a round and play; thinking you may get one.

Other Thoughts:

These days; there are tons of courses on school campus'. U.W. Platteville was a very early college campus course. For it's time; it was a wonderful course. By today's standards, it is a little "old school." However, I found this course to be very enjoyable and will stop in again when in the area. The new tee signs seem to indicate a new interest in upgrade. If they do some tee work; the overall course will be one more level improved. Without some modern redesign, this course will probably never earn more than a 3 rating, and this may be slightly generous. But, as I said, knowing the history, and compared to many of the campus courses I've played; I find this one both charming and challenging.

You Bet'cha 2+ years drive by

Pros:

The first three holes are on a plot of land surrounded by dorms and a large commons area. Hole one is a straight bomb hidden behind a tree, along the road. Number two shoots between two pines to the left, they force you to keep it low and it is short but still a tough birdie. #3 is a bomb going back up towards one. Make par here and you have made an awsome second shot. Leave the first three hole at even and your doing just fine. The rest of the course is a combo of long and short, four is a bomb across a giant ravine followed by a large up hill s shaped hole then more curves and long drives and short down hills. This course has it all. It is possible to hit the water on hole 11 while trying to wrap it around the tree line to the right without letting it going left toward the river. 13 is a up hill tunnel shot through the woods. 16, 17, and 18 play back and forth across this valley where you have a chance to throw over a towering tree on 16, a good shot at an ace on 17, and a tough par coming back on 18. You will leave this course hungry and wondering how you couldn't par number 3, 8, and 16. This is not a beginner course as mentioned by another reviewer it will challenge a skilled player.

Cons:

The course has had a make over in the last year. Improving the signs and course maps and tee pads. They messed up on the 18th tee pad and put it at a horrible angle. It can be difficult to park during school but there is plenty of options to park. Baskets were made by the university but they are quite nice

Other Thoughts:

I am not just trying to ramp up the course I play almost everyday, this course will surprise anyone that chooses to come. It plays into a beautiful park that has a large rugby field to test your driving distance.
