This course was a pleasant surprise for me. I wasn't expecting much. Your typical city park course in a small town. The distances are longer than a lot of small park courses like this. The elevation on holes 4 and 7 add to the fun factor. Hole 4 is a fun downhill shot with 7 playing back up the same hill. Hole 6 is a little under 200 feet tucked into the tree line. There are nice large concrete tees on every hole. I didn't notice the red markers in the ground for the shorts but I wasn't actively looking for them either. The tee signs are serviceable. They have the hole number, distances from each set of tees and either a drawn or carved hole map. I believed they had pars listed as well, but don't quote me on that. The course wouldn't seem to ever be too busy either. The baskets are DISCatchers that were all in pretty good shape and caught fine. The flow of the course is really easy to follow and starts and ends by the parking lot which is always a plus.

Not much for cons here. Hole 5 is kind of boring and wide open. As mentioned in earlier reviews the tees are not framed in just kind poured right onto the ground. I had no problems with these though. Better than natural pads or rubber mats in my opinion.

This definitely isn't worth any kind of trip out of your way to play but if you're nearby it's not a bad little course thanks to the elevation and there are enough trees to have to shape a shot on the majority of the holes. It's just not all that exciting either. I debated between a 2.5 and 3. I'll go with a 3 because I think it's closer to that.

This is one of the best, if not the best 9 hole courses in Central Illinois. The baskets are new, and with the new park crew, this course is very well maintained. There are bathrooms centrally located on the course, with water pumps by holes 8 and 9. It's a mostly wide open course, so you need to have a big arm. #4 is the course's signature hole, and is one of the most fun elevation shots around.

Some of the teepad's are slick because of the dedication stones, and #2's tee is on an awkward angle and can lead to some twisted ankles.

The park is very active and lively with the addition of the Disc Golf Course and is slowly getting the attention of the community. If you are on your way to the Peoria area, it is definitely worth your time to stop and play!

Great for people who are just begining, because most players who throw start throwing sidearm.

t pads are horrible, if your gunna spend the money on concrete, spend the money to put forms around it? duh

all holes are ether straight or to the right. wish there was a few holes that curved to the left.

Some long holes, some decent hills with some fun downhill and uphill throws.

Tee signs are now in place except for hole 7.

Course was not crowded, even on a Saturday.

Hole 4 is a fun, downhill putter throw to a well-guarded basket. Great elevation on this hole.

Some neighborhood yokels made fun of me.

Most of the holes are just ok. Not the fault of the designer--just unspectacular land, save for a couple spots where elevation comes into play.

Probably the worst concrete tee pads I have seen. They apparently poured them straight onto the ground, with no forms and no smoothing, leaving a series of waves and bumps in the surface. It's actually worse than if they had stayed with natural tees. To make matters even worse, they have installed a sponsor plaque on every hole . . . right in the center at the back of the tee pad! This adds a serious tripping hazard. Most of the time I was more worried about footing than my shot.

Hole 6 is a disaster, a short, right hand turn into the woods with no real way to even get to the pin. Why not utilize that old leftover backstop as an obstacle and actually make a decent hole there? Inexplicable.

I agree with a previous poster that hole 9 is dangerous--only a matter of time before someone or someone's car gets cranked. It's a fun hole to throw, but that is beside the point.

Overall--just ok. My advice: if you are driving through Lacon, stop and kill 25 minutes to play it, since it is only 30 seconds from the main N/S drag through town. But don't go out of your way.

The pars on the holes are challenging, adding more to the course-

The creator did a lot with the space given, using what elevation avaiable to create some tough lines

Only 9 holes, wish there could have been more holes that utilized the woods at the bottom of the park

The grass could be cut a little more often, sometimes it is hard to locate discs, even in the fairway.

I am from Lacon, and have been disc golfing for three years before this course was built. I know that this course has brought a whole new group of younger and older men and women alike to the game, and now I only have to drive a few minutes to play a quick round

This course is located in a nice small town park. The land has some large hardwood trees and some nice elevation in areas.

This course has a variety of distances and is fairly challenging for advanced/pro level players. It is still very recreational friendly with the lack of rough. Average hole distance is 337ft.

Brand new Innova Discatcher baskets which have the hole # sticker on them.

Concrete tees. Most are flat and allow run up room from behind.

Although there are no tees signs the course is pretty easy to navigate.

#2's tee pad was installed on the crest of a hill. It slopes upwards then flattens out. It's pretty difficult to throw from.

#6 is a poke and hope type hole. You throw from the open and the basket is tucked in the woods. There is no fairway to get to the basket. You are just hoping it finds a way thru the trees.

I'm concerned about hole #9. It is a good par 4 type hole but has some problems. It plays over 500ft with a road down the right side. Across the road there are several houses. Shots are going to land in the road and across the street especially in head wind situations.

I thought this course had a little more potential with the hills and wooded area on the east side of the park.

As you pull in park in the gravel near the first shelter. #9's basket is just north of the shelter. #2's basket is just west of the shetler. You will see #1's tee pad west of #2's basket and near the road.

There are only 2 holes where the basket is not visible from the tee. #7 and #9. From the tee pad on #7 you can see 2 light poles. The basket is located near the 2nd farthest way light pole. It is not reachable for even the longest throwing players. Throw to the top of the hill.

Don't drive too far out of your way to play this course. It's not a bad 9 holer but it's not awesome either.

-Designed very well, can't think of a better layout
-Lots of elevation, hilly
-There is an upper and lower level separated by a steep hill
-Lots of large trees and foliage in play on every hole
-A good variation of distance
-Demands the use of different throws and leaves room for multiple strategies
-Located in a very nice city park
-Bathrooms that only close during winter months
-A playground, some picnic tables and a couple of covered pavilions in the park
-The playground, pavilions, and roads will only be a problem with very errand throws
-Overall, a challenging course with very good distance choices and well designed for a 9 hole course
-I've seen a good number of people using the course already

-No water in play
-No signs to mark tees, holes, or distances (written on 8 Nov 2010, I am informed that signs are in the works of being added)
-No trash cans near tee boxes or baskets
-Only one place near tee boxes or baskets to sit and rest (cement blocks near tee #6)
-The red short tee markers (which were added later after the course was finished) should have been set at a different angle from the basket instead of directly in front of the long boxes. This would give this 9 hole course a feeling of having 18 different holes taking different paths to the baskets

-One of the nicest 9 hole courses I've ever played
-Discs can be purchased in town within a mile from the course at Lacon Fitness and Tan, as well as at Julie's Corner Store.
-I'm hoping a Lacon disc golf club can get started with memberships and some monthly mini tourneys next spring
