RIP Bullard Stockton 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 4, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a challenging design with a couple par fours and even a big par five. You'll also find short technical shots including a creek that comes into play on a few holes. Of course there are some open bomber shots too. Over all there's a great mix of shots with minor elevation changes coming into play. Hole one's island shot is somewhat unique. No other park activities interfere with the course at all. You'll have the whole area to yourself. Brand new Innova Discatchers.

Cons:

It's missing seven baskets, no signs, uncut grass in lots of areas, and poison ivy. Its just has an overall unfinished feel. One hole overlaps the fairway of neighboring Oregon Park.

Other Thoughts:

A great course that never really got off the ground. Although at one point the full eighteen holes were installed, seven of them were pulled as quickly as they were put in the ground due to a "misunderstanding" between the club and the county. The remaining 11 hole course was left and playable but largely unmarked and played as a safari course mostly by the locals. As of 6-4-11 a newly designed course merging the neighboring Oregon Park course began its installation and the Bullard Stockton course is no more. It is a real shame to see the course go considering all the time and effort put into the design, installation, and the short lived improvements that were beginning to take shape.

Amazing!!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 17, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Challenging, long holes, lots of different terrain, huge potential and plenty of land for a 5 star course, there's even a place to have a "clubhouse" if the local disc golf club wants to put in the effort and the dues.

Cons:

poorly marked, holes 2 - 8 closed, I walked onto hole one at what looked like a disc Golf club meeting, after attempting to say hi and introduce myself I received nothing but blank stares and treated like i was trespassing on their course. The Worse course etiquette I've seen in over ten years of playing in over 30 states.

Other Thoughts:

This course has amazing potential. some really challenging holes and terrain, A little bit of effort form the local disc golf club and this course could be a well marked beautiful resort like course. For those who have trouble finding hole 9 follow the gravel road take the fork to the right and look for the red markers towards the right end of the field. An amazing long hole with a massive dog leg left. Just be careful poison ivy and oak everywhere. This course could easily be one of the premier pay to play in the country with the buildings to have a clubhouse and pro shop. Sadly disappointed at the effort or lack there of, from the local disc golf club to label and maintain this course. State and city budgets are getting cut every where and without the public demand these two great courses can be lost. I would encourage the local club to a more proactive role in labeling and basic maintenance. This really could be one of the best courses in the country with the right effort

First time there since acerace 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 3, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Its a nice addition to Oregon Park, and I only got a taste during the 2010 Ace Race. Some of the holes look like they'll be awesome when its completed. the property is great for disc golf and it has nice variety of shots. good to see they haven't forsaken the driving range spirit- bring your big arm for this one

Cons:

Its not finished yet, there's not really proper signage or markers, its missing 6-7 baskets, and some of the holes aren't well thought out. Kinda a make your own way setup currently, but should be improved soon.

Other Thoughts:

Love it. If you play southern poly, then its a must throw course. As stated, ITS NOT FINISHED YET, but playable nonetheless. If you played the ace race, then you'll be happy to see hole one is not changed. not really any pads yet, but the possibilities for gold tees and plat tees are something to behold.
