2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 2, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course is close to campus meaning that its easy to get a couple of quick laps in between classes for students. Good for getting college kids and the kids in the apartments into the sport. This is a very good course for upshot work and putting practice

Cons:

Very short course with not much offered. The tees are short and awkward going towards older baskets that dont catch well. It has six holes all of which can be played with one or two discs.

Other Thoughts:

Fun course if you're looking to get in a quick couple laps while out on this side of town

Short but Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 21, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

It definitely is fun. Its a great course for a beginner or people like me who like to think there good. The holes definitely different positions. The distances seemed to have gotten longer. Longest whole was 294. Fun to play quick rounds. One other nice thing is you can leave the bag right at the picnic table for easy access.

Cons:

All that being said the course is very short and can get repetitive. Also it can be a little confusing to start out, might have to play once or twice just to get the layout. Also it zig zags across a park so if other people are in the park it can be near impossible to play. The sign says only residents and there "guest" can play. The list of rules if tell you how to talk trash on the course.

Other Thoughts:

If your bored and in the area definitely go for it but no need to go out of your way to play.

Quick Short Easy 6 Hole 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 30, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Baskets in pretty good shape
-Nice park area surrounded by apartments
-Every hole provides a chance for an ace run
-Very easy to navigate and you will spend very little time looking for the next hole. Course flows well.
-Good place to practice your mid-range or putter game
-Good place to introduce new players to the game
-One or two holes have a slight bit of elevation change on them
-Hole 5 is a nice change from the rest of the course as it provides a sorta tunnel shot.
-They used the small piece of land they had available for this course pretty well
-Can easily play a round in 15 minutes if you don't have much time and want to get a quick round in.

Cons:

-Very short holes (The longest hole is about 250 ft and most are a lot shorter than that)
-All of the holes are mostly straight shots with very few obstacles
-Doesn't provide any challenge really at all
-Can get a little boring and repetitive for intermediate or advanced players.
-Lots of other park activities in the area like horseshoes could make some holes unplayable if there are other park users
-There are a few fenced areas to lose your disc in if you have a bad shot
-The river area on the north side of the park, was overgrown even in the winter and would be a very easy spot to lose a disc in.
-A few of the baskets are really close to tee-pads and fairways cross a little bit. If there is more than one group on the course, there could be some conflicts and I would keep an eye out for incoming discs.
-No tee-signs just posts with numbers on them (not as a big deal since you can easily see all of the baskets from the tee-pads and there is not doubt as to what hole you are throwing to)
-The tee-pads are carpet and will eventually wear away, become un-level or disappear.
-Hole 4 plays alongside a fairly busy road that a disc could easily fly into.

Other Thoughts:

The spot of land this course occupies is not very ideal for a disc golf course. If the area is crowded it could be very hard to play the course. Good for beginners and practicing your short range game but not much else. Don't go out of your way to play this course.

Good quick course close to Campus 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 30, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course is very easy to navigate for first timers and flows very well considering that they had such a small plot of land to work with. Tees are all carpet which hold up surprisingly well in wet/damp conditions. None of the baskets have been tampered with or destroyed by the sometime rowdy students that live in the surrounding apartments.

Cons:

There are a good number of other activities that park can host (basketball, volleyball, grilling) that will inevitably get in the way of the golf course, but given the size of the land this doesn't happen as often as it would seem. The baskets do not catch very well and the hole length is not well varied, but again, there is little they could do about this given the amount of land. Some of the fairways cross but this is usually a non-issue since people are generally very courteous at this park.

Other Thoughts:

Its very nice to have this so close to the campus for students to play between classes. Traffic is usually minimal here and the land could not have been utilized better. Sure it's only 6 holes and they're pretty short, but considering the available resources, its a wonder this course made it at all. If you're in the area, go ahead and play a round or two. I think its worth 20 minutes of your time.

Not many 6ers out there 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 29, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

-A nice park with volleyball, garbage cans, picnic tables, and of course disc golf! It is well maintained and the grass is green.
-It has carpets for tee pads that are surprisingly grippy and effective, especially for the length of this course.
-Nice baskets.
-Good layout and flow for the size of this tiny park with the exception of one complaint which will be listed below. It was surprisingly lengthy and challenging for being so small.
-Due to this course being only 6 holes and to the abundance of courses in the area this course is not busy at all. I played 2 rounds in about 30 minutes and only saw one other guy on the course.
-Some good ace runs.
-Good for practicing, or for playing a very quick round, or for introducing younger people to the sport.

Cons:

-Some of the rough to the North could devour your disc. It looked wet and unpleasant. You also could put a disc on the road in a few places, one is a busy road.
-The hole 6 basket is right in front of the tee for hole 1.
-It is only 6 holes.

Other Thoughts:

This course is set on a very small, less than ideal piece of land. The layout is quite good for what they have and isn't just a very short pitch and putt. I enjoyed my couple of rounds here and I would encourage you to give it a shot too. Even if you don't like it, it would only be about 15 minutes of your time. Stop by Edora Park for sure in FoCo and for discs, maps, etc stop by Wright Life in Old Town.

Home Of The 11 Minute Round! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 19, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

I zipped through this course in 11 minutes. It looked as though a storm was blowing in so I hurried just a bit and ...11 minutes flat. The course sits its in the little recreation area beside this apartment complex. The rec area also features a basketball court, a volleyball court, horseshoe pit and a small playground. You throw right over the top of these. I don't think they would be busy too often. The course has DGA baskets, simple 4" x 4" poles with the hole number on them and very smooth carpet pads tacked down for teepads. The holes are all around 125'-175' , just simple little ACE runs. It's flat with scattered mature trees. There is a swampy, marshy area along the left side of # 2.

Cons:

Other than the fact that it's very short and flat with only six holes, this place is awesome.

Other Thoughts:

It's the ultimate course for us serious course baggers!. Where else can you show up and rack up a course in 11 minutes without breaking a sweat. Maybe even tally an ACE. Nah, that would have been too good to be true. I suck too bad to ACE one of these bohemoths.

This is would be a great little course to show up with this your buddy and play until one of you ACES a hole.

A small quick six. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The park is well maintained and an excellent little retreat for the neighboring apartment complex. Tee boxes are numbered without distances and have a nailed down carpet to tee from. The pin are in good condition and are numbered as well. The park is very open, so you'll have an easy line of sight to all baskets as well as people moving along to walking path on the north side. A few holes have a couple of good lines and tunnels, and even play some water danger left of #3 pin. Since you won't be fighting other golfers, this is a good place to bring the family or teach first timers the game.

BEST HOLE/S: #5

Cons:

With six relatively short holes, this course is meant for only casual play and practice. Holes play on top of each other, so if other golfers are in the area give fair warning. There is also a basketball and volleyball court that, when in use - would effectively take #2 out of play. There are also no real challenging holes, but this is taken with a grain of salt considering the small plot of land the course is on.

WORST HOLE/S: #4

Other Thoughts:

I have played a number of similar small neighborhood courses, and while they will never kill it in the rating system - they are great for what they are designed to accomplish. It's a family park and family style course - meant for learning, practicing, and enjoying a quick casual round. It's no Edora Park caliber course, but as long as you understand what this course was meant for - then serves it's purpose well.

Good place for locals to practice 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 19, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a six hole course that was designed for use by the residents of the adjacent apartment complex. The design does a very good job using a small piece of property to provide a solid putter and mid-range workout.

Each of the holes is unique and the difficulty is such that players of all abilities can enjoy playing and work on their games.

In terms of using the available space effectively I would give the designer a 5/5.

Cons:

This course was not designed to receive heavy traffic. It really shouldn't be listed on this site. I played a round with the designer and he indicated that he did not want the course listed.

Other Thoughts:

Don't be a dirty discer; leave the course cleaner than the way you found it.

Not great, but good for practice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 24, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a great alternative to the always crowded, Edora park. Its length and location provide a quick round or two for all skill levels. The baskets are quality, and the holes are all marked with their # on a post. The course is great for practicing because the holes are short and there are many options for safari shots. The land is well utilized to create the most challenge for the player.

Cons:

There are no teepads. The course is fairly short and only 6 holes. Not many obstacles.

Other Thoughts:

Don't go out of your way to play this course if you are a visitor, unless Edora is slammed. I play here a lot because it is close to me and it is a nice place to improve my skills.
