Pros:

Western Oregon DGC plays in the field next to the softball area. The course has a nice kiosk, and course map near hole 1. It has a practice basket with a black rim with a P on it to warm up. The tee pads are nice and in great shape with bark chips surrounding most. The tee signs are also very nice with a good description on them. The baskets are all numbered and layout is a breeze to follow. Good distance with most holes in the 300-400 range allowing you to air it out and test discs and the arm. Hole 8 pin is slightly elevated giving you at least a little difference?

Cons:

Pretty repetitive with not many obstacles. Flat with many holes having little to no trees giving same shot type feeling. If the course isn't mowed it can be a nightmare searching for disc and waiding through it. It gets pretty mushy in some spots during winter probably have some wet feet if it's not sunny out.

Other Thoughts:

Not a bad place to come try out some new drivers, and take down some Pars. Sure on a windy day it would be pretty brutal with no coverage all in all okay 9 holes and good practice spot

Below par 2+ years

Pros:

Tee pads and baskets are nice. Also nice signs.
Parking close by. Well maintained and clean.
It would be hard to lose a disc here.

Cons:

Not much in terms of obsticals. All the shots are pretty much strait on and wide open.
Basket 8 is raised up a bit and was about the most exciting part of the round.

Other Thoughts:

A fun course to play if you happen to be in the area or are heading to the college since it's located right there on campus, but I would not make any special trip there just for disc golf.

Design Completely Missed The Mark Here! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Brad Huggins designed the two wonderful little beginner courses over at Stayton and Sublimity. This course features all the same great amenities, nice course map at the beginning, great informative tee signs, nice concrete tee pads and brand new Innova baskets with the yellow band.

Unfortunately, while those beginner courses perfectly matched up with their intended audience, this course completely missed in that regard. Most college disc golfers want to come out with their loaner discs, have a nice social event playing in flip flops, maybe introduce a pretty sorority girl to disc golf, all without working up a sweat or looking through tall, wet grass for their discs. This course was complete boredom for me as I trudged through the fields. There is no variety in the holes. Holes 3-8 were all between 330' and 384'. Each one has you throwing down a 10 foot wide fairway with tall grass on both sides. This grass was waist high in places. A tree has been planted around each basket which will in time offer some resistance. Then # 9 finishes with a 444' par 3.

I can say that I really liked the cool use of railroad ties on # 8 to build a raised basket platform. Very clever!

Cons:

Sorry, almost everything concerning the design. It's too long for the average college golfer to enjoy. It's a tedious repetitious design. It's windy as hell out here. This tall grass off the fairways was miserable today and it was a dry day. On a wet day, it would be horrendous.

Other Thoughts:

Move that wonderful little beginner course from Stayton here and these college kids would love it. They would be able to socialize and have some success. No wasted time looking for lost discs. I see this course falling into disrepair and decay. Such a waste of great amenities, signs, pads, baskets!

Open but nice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The campus and surrounding community really needed a new course. Quality installation with nice tee pads and signs.

Cons:

Pretty simple layout. Not a lot of natural obstacles, so most shots are wide open.

Other Thoughts:

The wind can be a real challenge at times.
Watch for joggers and walkers. They have the right of way!

Should have tried for a Practice Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 6, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

There is enough room here for a fun practice course and maybe a few safari holes but not much else. The grassy area by the large stone bunny (it's a statue, pretty cool looking actually, might be a school mascot?) is a really good area for a couple of fun holes and there is currently a couple of baskets in this area. This isn't really a pitch and putt course there are a few longer holes mixed in here.

Cons:

The course flows around a couple of building and the shots here are dangerously close to hitting said buildings. Also one of the holes is placed right next to a fence where missing and going over the fence means losing your disc in a construction area, not what I call a fun basket location. Also there is a basket across a busy street and you have to throw across it (Couldn't find tee pads, just played from the last basket) for a short ace run hole but again very dangerous and the basket is right next to the street! There are a couple of brand new DISCatchers and the rest are old, beat up and rusty baskets that are quite and eyesore to an otherwise beautiful campus.

Other Thoughts:

I think the designer tried a little to hard to make a good course here, I think two or three baskets in the aforementioned grassy area would be ideal with a number of different tee pads for a couple fun safari holes. Just not enough room here to try anything serious.

Work In Progress 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 23, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Variety of shots (240' - 550')
- Some holes are challenging
- The trees that come into play work well to define fairways and provide obstacles.
- Course no longer endangers students.

Cons:

- Some baskets are in bad condition (Discatcher Sports)
- No signage
- A lot of the holes are wide open.

Other Thoughts:

As is, it's a fun course to practice a variety of shots. The course has a lot of potential with some OB lines and strategically place trees (which the club is working on getting).
