Pros:

Park in the teeny tiny "lot" on Linn Ave, not where Google Maps drops you, which is on a dead end road, as other reviews have noted. Singer Creek Park is small but very pretty, and you can actually have fun playing these 6 remaining baskets if you treat it like a back yard game. Your discs will bounce out, fall through the hardware cloth baskets, and generally provide a hilarious time. It's kind of worth it to see the basket which looks right in theme for post-apocalyptic zombie disc golf. A huge owl flew over us and followed us on the course. Very nice morning, if not really a legitimate disc golf experience.

Cons:

Not really a legitimate disc golf experience.

Other Thoughts:

Probably skip this one, but if you're in the area and it's a nice day, stop by for the novelty. You'll at least get a nice walk.

Pros:

Since playing the course yesterday I've been thinking about what I can write as a pro and have not yet thought of anything.
Ah, ok- so when I was wandering about aimlessly in the open area of the park a druggy looking fellow walked by and asked if I had the Honda parked up by the road. After confirming it was my car, he told me to be careful when pulling out because cars bottom out all the time up there with the uneven gravel. I though it was nice of him to warm me.

-I suppose the openness of the small field area would allow one to somewhat practice their mid-range game.

Cons:

Unfortunately everything about it is a con.

Online map is not helpful at all.

Bringing a child or new disc golfer here could likely scar them deeply, causing them to never want to play disc golf again.

Other Thoughts:

Why did I try to fool myself into thinking the past reviews must have been too harsh? Should have listened. They were very accurate.

I really wanted to find a glimmer of light somewhere, but it just couldn't be done.

I decided to putt into each "basket" and call it a day. Upon putting into one of the baskets, my disc broke the cage.. not the chains- the cage itself actually fell apart and is now leaning parallel with the post.

There were a couple homeless looking older gentleman tossing a few discs at a basket, but when I asked them for help they were unable to help. I later asked that druggy looking guy if he knew anything about the course and he told me "The problem with the course is that there are no launch pads!" He then pulled out of his backpack some sort of substance that I'm pretty sure had to have been smuggled into the country and started mixing it up. I thanked him, found my car, and very carefully drove away... never to return again.

Pros:

So, in contrast to the appraisal of The Valkyrie kid, I would put the park itself down as one of the "course's" few pros, if you live in the area, it seems like a really lovely place for dog walking, or just walking through. The course's 6 (remaining) baskets are split between two areas in the park, and the area in between features a very dense creek bed that has one of the only interesting basket positions. I guess one of the other nice features of the course itself is the presence of some elevation. While the few "holes" I could make out didn't seem to utilize the elevation much, a local *could* make up a course using these six baskets that has some nice variation in shots. As the Valkyrie Kid described in his review there are about 2 "parking spots" on Linn Avenue, that are right next to the tee pad for hole 1, which is where you should start. I was able to piece together hole 1 and hole 2 (which plays as a fairly fun/tough uphill dog leg right to a pin you can't see from hole 1's basket). Then, based on the map, I sort of guessed as to hole 3, which I played from the hole 2 basket down into the creek bed position I mentioned above (which I should note, was a really fun hole!). After that I found what I assume were baskets 6 and 7 based on the numbers spray painted on the baskets. Just to complete the narrative, I didn't find any other evidence of actual holes on the course, the other three baskets I just made up some shots for.

Cons:

There really isn't all that much of a "course" here, there is only one obvious tee pad, which is for hole one, and even that is entirely unmarked. I would guess that earlier in the life of this course, most of the tee pads would have been painted on to the concrete walking trail that winds around the course. I should warn people that the course map that's posted here on dgcoursereview is completely unintelligible, based on the positions of the two baskets that were numbered I spent a good 5 minutes trying in vain to piece together the vision of what the course might have looked like upon installation, but was not largely successful.

As mentioned by other reviewers, while I can appreciate the hearty effort by the Eagle Scouts who made these baskets, they don't really catch discs at all, which unfortunately doesn't even really allow for much in the way of a future for this course even if some work was done on signage/tee pads.

Even if this course was revived with baskets/pads/signs, this course does not appear to have any viable parking, unless I'm just missing a lot that is tucked somewhere around the park. It's unfortunate too, because, as the course is more on the walking park/nature area side, (as opposed to a park with lots of sports/rec spaces) it could make for a really pretty nine hole course.

Other Thoughts:

I was hesitant as to whether even write a review for this course, I don't mean to, or relish in disparaging the hard work of the people who made these baskets and laid out this course. However, given that no review has been put up in almost 2 years, I felt it was worth it to simply update that no further effort seems to have been put in to this course. Come here only if you truly value upping your course count, otherwise, the new 10-hole Athey Creek Church course nearby is an excellent choice that is well worth checking out!

Paging Doctor Jack Kivorkian! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 2, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is probably my 6th or 7th course played that was designed as an Eagle Scout project. A couple have been abysmal, a couple OK and one or two kinda fun. This one falls into the abysmal category but since I don't do 0.0 ratings, I'll give it my patented 0.5 score.

This course was designed by Josh Bullfinch of Troop 745 and located in Singer Creek Park in the self-proclaimed historic burg of Oregon City. Following Josh's directions, we drove to the end of Sommer Street where we found two shabby little houses, no parking, no park sign and barely enough room in which to turn around. I assume that Josh is not currently employed as a hunting guide, a traffic cop or by the Oregon Department of Transportation. Trying to locate the elusive Singer Creek Park, we proceeded to drive completely around the park searching for an entrance. We finally asked a guy and he directed us to a old, now closed entrance, up on Linn Avenue. This tiny little area really only has parking for 1 or 2 vehicles, at most. So if there is ever a tournament held here at Singer Creek (Bet against that happening), the on-line registration will be limited to the FIRST TWO PLAYERS registered.

The course or what I could find of it appears to play in the central grassy area of this park. I never found the gravel pad for # 1 so really was guessing. I drilled my first 10 foot putt dead center into the homemade basket and it was spit out. The baskets have about 1/2 inch deep baskets so putts will easily fall out. I think we can deduce from the basket construction that Josh is not currently employed as an engineer, An Innova Disc Sports Basket Designer or as an architect. There were two other baskets in sight which someone has spray painted a number on the side so I was able to locate # 2 and # 4 baskets.

From here I walked up the path, found another grassy area which contained no sign of any disc course. My always understanding wife was nagging on me to hurry up and get home in order to beat the Labor Day weekend traffic so I called off the jam and headed north up I-5.

Cons:

The park and the course are both classified as Cons.

The baskets are eyesores, especially now with numbers spray painted on but because no-one can find their way into this park, probably nobody but the squirrels will actually see them

Other Thoughts:

If Dr. Kivorkian was still with us, he would be called here for an assisted suicide. As he recently departed this earth, Singer Creek DGC will be left to die a slow, painful death.

As much as this pains me to say, this course is not even worth the trip for the most, dedicated course baggers amongst us.

Cons:

The course was very difficult to follow. Some of the holes had numbers spray painted on them, but lacked a good flow. We couldn't find holes 8 and 9. Parking was also a bit odd. The only place I could find to park was on the side of the road next to the Park sign and there was only room for 3-4 cars at best. I would not recommend going to this course unless you just want to try something new and close.

Pros:

So when I heard that Oregon City was getting a disc course I was stoked. I lived in Oregon City for years and always played Mciver and Timber and was looking forward to a lunch time course. This is fun for safari holes or throwing putters and midrange, drivers are not needed. I would have loved making a disc course in scouts. Nice secluded park thats easy to find.

Cons:

The lack of any tee pads, course direction, flow, and most of all the baskets!!! These baskets EAT plastic. They will take chunks out of champion plasic and shred dx. The problem is that the rims were cut with a saw and are sharp enough to cut your hand. This could probably be solved by adding break line tubbing or something to reduce the sharp edges. Serious these baskets took a chunk out of my gateway SSS magic. There aren't pads which I can deal with but there isn't even marked locations to throw from or any numbers on the baskets so I can't even say that there is a way to actually "play" this course. Very tight and if it was ever crowded you would never stop dodging discs from every direction. To make matters worse somebody took a can of spray paint and put numbers on the baskets and on the ground trying to designate a layout. This reflects bad on the whole disc golf community and they didn't even come up with a logical layout with some of the "pads" being behind bushes.

Other Thoughts:

The location is good and elevation could really have come into play. I feel that this is an ongoing project and probably not finished, there aren't even bottoms on the baskets yet. Signs, pads, and basket numbers need to be added before I would actually call this a course. Until the baskets are replaced or fixed I would advise not playing or bringing junk discs.

Pros:

The Scout that put in this course made a very easy practice area course for locals and for the purpose of throwing at baskets this has been achieved. The baskets are homemade and although they couldn't catch a cold they are interesting and unique. It seems some work was put into these for sure. There are a couple of fun safari holes I was scouting out and if I lived close I would have fun making these up, maybe you could even do this with a couple of friends and whom ever won that last hole gets to pick the next safari hole. Could be fun.

Cons:

There really isn't a course here. I hate to put down other people's work but this course should not be taken serious and if you don't take it serious it can be quite fun going for aces on very short holes. The only problem is the baskets... The baskets just don't catch that well and when they do there is no bottom catching it just this little orange thing that the discs slip through half the time, so aces need to stick in the actual chain assembly to count!

Other Thoughts:

It's too bad there is nothing here exciting. I think having two practice baskets and some different tee areas would be a little more interesting but safari here could be fun for lids or putters.

Pros:

This was a fun little course close to home. I found out about this course on Discgolfscene.com and checked it out on nwdiscgolfnews.com and decided I needed to try it out. My brother and I drove the ten minutes and played the course four times. The first time it was fairly hard to get the flow down but after that it was a lot of fun. All we tried to do was ace the course. The baskets were really cool looking but were for sure not PDGA approved.

Cons:

The baskets did not hold discs at all. There were no other tee pads except on hole one. There was also near to no parking. And there was mud.

Other Thoughts:

This course was really cool and I will play it again for sure. The best part is it was made by the Boy Scouts. This course is really good for work on your short game, if you are driving from far away don't waste your time though.
