Huge amount of land for this course. The possibilities for the future of this course are endless. The land could easily house 36 holes if the designer wanted to go that route.
This is a big arm course so all of you bombers, grab your long range drivers and come play. Two holes in particular (#5 and #13) are two of the longest holes I have ever seen on a disc golf course. Being this is a brand new course as of this spring, new Innova discatcher baskets are new and shiny.

We have to remember how new this course is and that is seems to still be in development.
Carpeted tee pads on the front nine and some to none on the back nine.
Course signage is non-existent as of yet so you're on your own once you get there.
The open course leads to a bit of repetitiveness of shots but the back nine get a bit more interesting. The challenge on a number of the open holes comes more from Tee placement and raw yardage rather than course obstacles.
The development of this course has a long way to go.

This is a big arm bombers dream course for many of the holes. The converted ball golf course allows for tons of room, yardage and endless possibilities for the future development of this course. The course starts out with a hidden Tee #1 tee pad back behind and tucked under some larger trees along the tree line. It plays out to an open, slightly raised basket back close to the tree line along the left. Hole 2 plays back the opposite way back to the parking lot. Then cross the road for 3-9. You won't forget #5 as it takes three solid driver shots to get in range. I can't wait to see the actual yardage of that hole. It's got to be 1000+ ft. I couldn't find the tee pad for #6 until afterwards looking at the pictures on this sight. 6-9 get a bit repetitive in the open field following along the left tree line. 10 plays across a small water pond and can give even the hydrophobic some confidence throwing plastic over water as it is a short shot across it to the basket. 11 &12 are more open field long throws. THEN you cross the road for the technical part of the course. There is a carpet tee pad for Hole #13 right before the largest body of water I have seen on a DG course. It is not for the faint of heart or any plastic you hold near and dear to your heart. Once (if) you get across the water, there is significant yardage to still make up to the basket. 14 -18 are decent technical shots with some risk involved. Probably the best holes on the course. This back 5 could be a costly day if errant throws happen as there is water and nothing I would go fishing in.
It needs to be said again, this is a new course in development and has a long way to go before an accurate review can be made as to how it will be developed. All I know is there is a LOT of grass to be mowed and a lot of big arm strength needed. I got pretty tired huckin' long throughout the course. The terrain is typical soft sandy grass so your calves will get a workout. Hats off the folks who laid it out and thought big. I hope they can develop it as well as maintain it as it has tons of potential.

Baymeadows disc golf course is the newest course in Jacksonville, Florida. Built on a old ball golf course in the spring of 2011, this course is the big arm complement to other local course Fore Palms. Most of the holes are long, over 350 feet, and mostly open. Pro par is 59, including the 1000+ foot par 5 fifth hole. That said, smart shots kept in the fairway can allow lesser-armed players to make par with the occasional birdie opportunity. There are also a handful of tighter holes which require some control off the tee or approaching the pin.

Five of the holes bring water into play in a nontrivial fashion. Often the shortest or most open route off the tee brings the water the most into play, so there is a good risk-reward factor as far as how much water you choose to carry on any given shot. A couple of baskets are placed precariously on slopes near water, which offer one more thing to think about as you throw your upshot or putt.

The course has a mix of carpet and grass teepads. This may be a drawback for some, but when I played it was a non issue; I had full confidence in my footing for every drive.

Some of the baskets are placed a bit close to thick shule, so on a couple of holes you can put a shot just a little past (15-25 feet) the basket and have an awkward putt. This may be resolved as the course matures.

As with many open courses, some of the holes get a bit repetitive. Throw your driver off the tee and miss the one or two trees in the fairway. This is largely the fault of the land, and not the course design.

I particularly like the finishing combination of holes 16, 17 and 18. Hole 16 is around 450 feet with a well defined landing zone 300-320 feet off the tee, followed by a pinched fairway up to the basket. Hole 17 is about 300 feet long. The first 260 feet play in an open field, then to a basket recessed 40 feet into the woods via a 20 foot wide tunnel. A safe teeshot to the edge of the woods will give a drop in par with a ~50 foot putt for birdie. An aggressive teeshot which makes the tunnel can give an easy two, but missing the tunnel can easily yield a four. Then the 18th hole plays ~300 feet to a fast peninsular green. Once again, aggressive teeshots can give a drop in two but bring the OB water into play, while two safe shots will give a drop in three.

I personally loved these holes, and I recommend heading into them tied or within a couple strokes of your nearest competitors.

Nice layout, variety of hole distances

Grass to high (should have fairways cut into the course). No concrete pads (having carpet pads does not allow you to rotate through your drive). No long or short tees (a course this size could allow all players a good experience. Could have long, mid and short tee boxes). No signs to next tee (spent too much time looking for the next tee pad).

I feel this course has the potential to be awesome. I'm visiting the area from Ohio. I can't wait to come back next year to see what if any improvements they make to the course. Good luck and good throwing
