Fun Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 12, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Expanded from 9 to 18 holes just recently
Very nice use of good sized park
Well maintained
Challenging basket placements made good use of wooded areas and creek

Cons:

No signage made finding our way to the first tee box difficult, took us 15 minutes to find the 1st tee.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, it was a very good course with tees and baskets in the trees both on tee offs and approaches. The course designers used alot of thought to position the holes to make optimum use of the wide open spaces available. Even on the shorter holes, tee box and basket placement was well laid out. It had just been mowed when we were there so the course was nicely maintained. Talked to the park director who told us there is a sign being made (sounds like a very nice one) that will help a lot in ending the confusion of searching for tees and baskets for those that don't know the course. Overall, I would recommend this course to mainly experienced discers with moderate to big arms as several of the holes required pretty long tee and upshots. Hole #8 is over 600'. But, if you need a bit of a challenge it would be a very fun course for anyone to play.

Not terrible 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays through a nicely groomed multi-use park. There is a nice mix of hole lengths, with several shorter holes, some in the long but reachable range, and one 600' shot that offers a chance to air out a max distance drive. Many of the holes have some trees in play offering some interesting lines. The creek offers some risk on a few holes. There is a good map at the beginning of the course, it's worth taking a picture of to help with navigation. The rubber tees are fine, and are level with the surrounding ground so you can runup from off the pad. The baskets are fairly new and in good shape.

Cons:

The course is pretty straightforward, most holes have multiple lines and simple hyzer shots will suffice for the majority of the holes. There are some minor safety issues with a baseball field and walking path in play. There is a really long walk back to the car at the end of the course, making for awkward flow if you want to play multiple rounds.

Other Thoughts:

This course might be a little long for true beginners, but it doesn't offer too much punishment for errant shots and is definitely approachable for novice to intermediate players. Experienced throwers won't find a ton of different challenges, there's some nice length but you don't really have to hit specific lines to be successful here.

Beginner/Intermediate 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Course is set in a pretty big park that has a good amount of other activities going on, with baseball fields, a basketball court, and such. Seems to be pretty well separated except for one hole by the outfield fences, shouldn't be any other interferences.
- Decent mix of trees and forest on most holes to provide some challenge. #1 is friendly to a RHBH anhyzer, #3 involves going through or around a grove of trees, #4 has a low ceiling with woods on the right, #8 is a shot out of some plinko trees (roller friendly?), and #9 has forest directly behind the pin. Some of the rough here is very brutal, and can easily rob a par, especially on the longer holes.
- Small creek runs next to some holes, like #2, #5, and #6 in a big way - there are a lot of trees on the left, and the creek gets especially nasty down by the pin with rough and piles of concrete.
- Great mix of hole lengths, there are some shorter holes for some ace runs, like #2 and #9. #8 is shorter but has lots of obstacles. On the other hand, there is the 650' bomber hole for everyone to throw a driver, that still has obstacles and rough to worry about. A few up at 370' as well.
- OK Baskets (Discnation), rubber teepads aren't terrible, tee signs non-existent. Map at the beginning is good and definitely necessary.

Cons:

- Terrain here is pretty much as flat as it gets, from start to finish. Makes those other 'flat' courses not seem so bad.
- Nearly every hole is open to a straightish shot, or has a wide berth one way or another. #8 is the one exception with the wall of trees off the tee. Just a typical feature of this kind of park course.
- There is a looong walk back to the parking lot after hole #9. Ah well.

Other Thoughts:

- Overall, a fun course that has a wide variety of park style holes. From fairly wide open shots, to some longer holes with trees, to a tough bomber hole, and a hole with a wall of trees to get through, a lot of different shots to be found. A great course for beginners to learn the ropes, including staying far away from the creekbed. Not too shabby for casual players either.

As Good As It Gets... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 1, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

*As good as it gets for this piece of land.
*The PERFECT course for this size town/property.
*A good mix of short/long, lefty/righty holes.
*Perfect course to start out new players on with some of the shorter, reachable holes, yet, challenging enough with some of the longer tighter holes for more experienced players.
*The creek comes into play a lot more than it shows on the hole info here...I'd say holes 3, 5, 6 and 7. On hole 3 you are throwing over the creek about 30 feet in front of you so, it does not really even come into play there.

This course uses the new Disc Nation "Liberty" baskets, this was the first time I'd played on them. They catch very well

Kudos to course designer George Blessing for his ingenious idea of lighting the baskets for night play with $10 worth of solar sidewalk lights!!!
+ 1 egg just for this ingenuity...

Just Installed...rubber horse stall mats at each tee. They seem to give pretty good grip, even when a little damp. They are on the small side, about 3'X3' and messed with my run up. I just couldn't get over seeing the edge of that mat and thinking about tripping on it...

Definitely worth the stop...

Cons:

Only 9 holes...
Give me 9 more holes like this with concrete Tee Pads and I'll give it a 4+ rating!!!!!

Other Thoughts:

Kudos to George Blessing for pursuing his passion for Disc Golf and getting this course installed.

A BIG THANKS :) to TCI Mfg. in Walnut for putting up all of the $$$ needed for this course, -WoW- what a stand-up company, support them if you can!!!

Here's an article about George and the course from a local newspaper...

Surprised 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 27, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well there are some good variations of shots here. Some are pretty short and straight, others are behind trees, and there is even a 651 par 5 so you can test our your arm.

The first couple of holes are pretty short, so its a good warm-up to prepare. Good variation with open shots and shots in the trees as well as a variation for RHBH and RHFH shots.
There are lights on all of the tees so if anyone wants to disc golf at night, you can see where the tees are at. The baskets clearly indicate the direction of the next tee (by an orange rectangle pointing towards the next basket)

Cons:

Well some short easy holes and only 9 holes, but not really a con when thinking about the space available for the course.

Other Thoughts:

The basket placement is pretty interesting. I really like how the course is laid out, pretty good variations of shots. Overall after playing a round here, I really enjoyed the course
