Good, beginner fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 23, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

> Easy to follow for the most part
> Holes are not too long
> Baskets in decent shape
> Good use of trees on several holes
> Beginner friendly (except 18)

Cons:

> No real big cons, I do not believe it is meant for advanced players, so /i did not enjoy the course awhole lot.
> I skipped #6, not even worth throwing.

Other Thoughts:

This was a fun course to play to play... but nothing really stands out. Natural tee pads, short holes, and only one tee box suggestes it is meant for beginners. I played 17 of the 18 holes in less than an hour and ran in to about five groups while I was there. (One of which was playing safari to make the holes longer). With Clyde Fant and Ford Park in town, this is a much better option for beginners to go play and learn the sport.

If I were to take someone who has never played before, or just plays occassionaly, this is where I would take them. But, if I were a traveling player looking for a challenge, I would not recommend this course.

If it is meant as a beginner course then they have done a great job!

Newest course in Shreveport 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 3, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Effective use of land: no crossover holes
Basket placements makes good use of trees
Reused old mach 1 baskets from Clyde Fant,9 originally designed by "Steady Ed"
Good beginner/intermediate course. not as long as Ford Park

Cons:

Park is established in a "bowl" and flood plain.Floods very easily.
No restrooms..yet
No water available on course
Fishermen park in 17 & 18 fairway even though signs say not to.
Course is only a month old. still rough in spots.
"natural" tees can be a turnoff for some who prefer concrete teepads

Other Thoughts:

I spoke with Bennett(designer) after his round. He said he plans to build a pro shop in the old barn and remodel the restrooms. he also said there are plans to have kayaks and paddleboats for rent in the future.
