Pros:

-Good Use of Elevation in small park
-Interest with working around trees, a tunnel shot

Cons:

-Horrible Baskets (discs WILL drop out the bottom)
-Tee is a white stick with a number
-Grass Tees
-Short - Longest Hole is 250'
-Road in play on #1
-Shelter in play on #6
-RR tracks in play on #8

Other Thoughts:

Davidson Park DGC plays in a small city park in the southern part of Osage, IA. The layout here really isn't all that bad. A small footprint is used well with some elevation and trees to work around. For a beginner course, the layout is OK. It does also stay away from the skate park. The accolades end there. These are the worst baskets I've seen (other than ones otherwise destroyed). The chains are weak, but the bottom of the basket has more large holes than the Detroit Lions defense. The basket will not hold your disc. A few have had some plastic mesh placed in the bottom to try to alleviate this, but rarely works. Homemade baskets can be fine, and the two other courses in/near town, the homemade baskets are playable (still weak on chains, but playable). Other issues are fairly standard, grass tees, minimal signage, and a few hazard issues. Get some standard baskets, add concrete tees and decent signage and you have a decent technical course, good for beginners and some interest for those with more experience. As is, this is not even worth the 20 minutes of your time. The baskets and distances are marginally better at Spring Park and Watertower Park (play them together for 18 - Watertower is numbered 10-18). Bag it, if you like, but I won't play here again.

Pros:

Pretty nice practice course. Accouple good holes where trees and other opsticals make its difficult. On slopes so gives you a challenge of maybe having your disc role allitle

Cons:

Could of made alittle better I believe, The couple times I've played the basket chains are messed up and whenever they'd hit a lot of time the disc would fall out unlike other courses baskets

Pros:

...hmmmm...let me see if i can think of any, nicely mowed. if you like trains you might see one roll by. hole 8 is about 300 feet which is 1 of 3 holes here that is fun to throw. Considering the entire course is only the size of 2 football fields there are some decent elevation changes.

Cons:

This course is horrible! what was the designer thinking? Way too small to put 9 baskets on. NO
WATER or trash cans, no signs, no tee pads, just sticks in the ground where you are suppose to throw from. Worst of all the baskets are homemade; the chains are strung incorrectly and the baskets dont hold discs in them. THE DISCS JUST FALL THROUGH!!!! unless you are at really close range you are unable to tell if your shot went in or out because it will go straight to the ground usually unimpeded by the 5 stingy scraps of metal composing the basket. there are a couple window or tunnel holes which would be fun if the baskets weren't at a higher elevation than the tunnel. almost no chances to get aces, even though most holes are less than 150'

Other Thoughts:

Tear this down. fix the baskets and only use 6 of them. move a few of the tee pads to the other side of the street (by the ball fields) for a couple of the holes. So little traffic you could even use the same basket(s) for multiple holes by having 2 different fairways leading to the same pole. I dont see the application of having 9 holes with no concrete tee pads on what at best could be considered a practice green. :(
