Nice, scenic course, lots of trees if you like that. No really long holes ( actually quite a shot course, but I do like that). Marking quite good at tees.

This course offers as much variety as a shorter technical 9er can. Most of the holes are wooded, at least in some capacity. The small woodland ridge that runs through the property is well utilized for uphill, downhill, and crosshill holes. Good balance of left, right, and straight holes. The distance varies from 190' to 470' with good consideration of player skill designed tees in relation to the obstacles present and width of the fairways. Risky greens are all around with pins perched atop ridges on slopes, and tucked neatly into the surrounding woods. Good tee signs are present on all the long (blue) tees, and the red tees all offer a look at the basket (except #4). Hole 8 used to be a memorable hole with a horizontal branch creating a need to control the vertical release point of your disc as you threw from atop one side of a ridge, 240' over a low valley, to a pin on the other side of the ridge, and to make it all more puckering, if you blew 30' past the basket was a sharp and densely wooded dropoff. On hole 9 OB and a mando add some accuracy challenge to the 470' distance requirement, and a sloping green presents additional risk.

It's definitely not a destination course. But efforts to increase great challenging, rearding skill based disc golf in the area with new courses, and expanding Silver Creek to 18 holes with real baskets and actual teepads will make it worth a play in the very near future (plus this is an outdoor wonderland up here!). The tee area are dirt, and some attempt has been made to level them and remove roots, but with traffic, rain, erosion, whatnot, they do not hold up well. Most tees have a toe-board to mark the front and edges, but not all tees do. All tees had flags at the front edges at one point, but they have been disappearing. The baskets are homemade, chains are securely attached at the lower end of the pole, and they are not anchored in the ground well. Leaning baskets and spit puts are common place along with an awful 55-gallon garbage barrel sound when you hit the top band or the basket edge. The course gets a bit cramped in some areas, errant throws cross over occasionally on one of the holes. There are no water hazards, or huge downhill bombers, but distance, OB, and risky greens all come into play for a good mental game. It's popular as the best course in the area, so garbage is a constant threat. As I mentioned before, blatant vandalism is a problem, with worthless and useless chuckers breaking a branch off what used to be a memorable hole. Other unsavory characters are often present at the picnic tables near hole 1. The course is smack dab on the edge of highway 41 and the city, so it's not a "lose yourself" in the peace and solitude kind of park.

This course falls into a 3.22 in my spreadsheet, but I'll round down due to other courses I've rated 3.5 or 4 by comparison. This review is for the new course. It's been referred to as a redesign of the old course, but that's not really the case. Not a single hole was reused from the old design other than the old #7, but it is now #5 and 150' longer with a well guarded approach to a green set well back into the woods. Every single hole is new and the course is completely different. Silver Creek is part of a master plan by Disc da UP club to promote the sport of disc golf and make Marquette county a disc golf destination. There are plans for 18 holes throughout more of the property in different wooded sections. This course will be the shorter more technical course due to the size of the property and also due to the number of recreational players with all the neighborhoods with kids nearby. We will plan to utilize dual tee design (red and blue), alternate pin placements, and technical fairways with primary routes and occasional secondary routes. I cannot count the number of players we've talked to who've said that quit playing disc golf after moving to the area because of the poor courses, yet are now thrilled to be out playing again, and challenged on the new and fun Silver Creek design. Keep an eye on our progress - watchitbend (disc golf course design) on facebook - as we work toward 5 new courses in the area and a national/world event in this UP wonderland. Marquette county offers endless outdoor activity - waterfalls, hiking galore, breathtaking mountain top views of the Lake Superior shores, 100+ miles of singletrack mountain biking and endless miles of, pristine lakes and rivers, kayaking, natural rock formations, Hawaiian-like beaches, etc, etc!

a good variety of woods holes. on the tighter and more technical side of disc golf . Well beat in . course pics are old and don't do it justice.

needs more holes and better baskets. for a nine i would rate it higher if it had some teepad work and commercial baskets

not a redesign of the old course but an entirely new course that makes Marquette worth stopping to play
