Good Practice Course When Empty 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 28, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

It\'s the only one in West Maui and only one of a few on the entire island. I appreciate the work local players have put into making this course available. They made the best of limited resources and space.

Cons:

It\'s not a great course. Some have written it is a good course for beginners, but I disagree. Hole 1 will take your disc onto a busy highway with a little wind. And a few other fairways are bordered by a baseball field fence and fenced wooded area. With the wind, it is fairly easy for a beginner to lose a disc over a fence. There are no unlocked gates so players have to climb the fences to retrieve discs. There are a few nice long throws with distant views and trees, but the field over which to throw is often frequented by park goers playing sports, kite flying or picnicking. Since there are only six baskets that are reused from different directions, people being on the field removes almost half the course from play.

Other Thoughts:

I would recommend the course for practice or simply to say you played a course in Maui. The field and isolated baskets are great to practice when nobody else is around. Go early in the morning to have a chance of playing a full round.

Molokai Island view and disc golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 4, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

-I would have given 2.5, except how many disc golf courses have a view of an island (Molokai in this case) from the tee? This makes elevated hole #4 a signature hole.
-Easy to get to from the main highway and close to Napili Beach and other beautiful beach areas
-Quiet and comfortable setting in pleasant neighborhood, with little traffic. Only a few people here.
-Some elevation
-Hey, you get to play disc golf on Maui for free, where hotel/condo rooms can easily cost $250 and up.
-Parking is easy
-Restrooms
-Nice grass

Cons:

-People might be playing Frisbee catch with their dog. Play other holes until they are gone if you don't want the dog chasing your disc.
-No visible tee pads. However, the paved walkway around the course acts as a tee area.
-Difficult to navigate
-Can be very windy, but that's true of most of the Hawaiian islands

Other Thoughts:

Overall, I highly recommend a stop here if nothing else but for hole #4. Play it multiple times, because each time at the tee you'll probably stop and stare for minutes. It's a fun hole too. I thought I was going to hit the tree on the right, but my disc banked left just at the last moment and fell 3-4 feet from the basket. Also it's a nice park to walk, since the grass is cut and in good shape. Easily go to the beach before or after play. You'll probably figure out holes #1-#6 or #7, and #14. Maybe you'll figure them all out. Enjoy!

DG in paradise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 12, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy to access. Easy to see baskets. Fairly easy to follow with a map at the beginning. Baskets are in good shape. Grass is well- groomed.

Cons:

No visible tee pads. Only 6 baskets available. Site map is outdated, 7 & 8 are completely removed.

Other Thoughts:

A beginners course. Not many choices for courses on this island. A wonderful view of Molokai from this course.

short and a bit confusing 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 7, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Aesthetic-- plays in a very small park north of Ka'anapali beach in Napili. Very close to the highway. Most tee areas are on the side walk so be cognisent of others using the park.

Baskets-- DisCatchers. All present and in good repair.

Tee areas-- as they use the sidewalks as teepads, they are all in good repair.

Cons:

Routing and nav-- plays around the perimeter of the park and utilizes the circle path but tee areas aren't marked well but the map is helpful. Speaking of the map, it's NOT helpful to have x'd out holes on there, just get a new map please!

Challenge-- wind and lost discs, but other than that, not much.

safety-- plays around the park utilizing walking paths, presents a safety risk no matter how you cut it.

Other Thoughts:

it's disc golf in paradise, how can you go wrong.

Fun and Convenient Little Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 1, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Easy to navigate

Close to resorts

Nice area/decent park

Cons:

Holes are not clearly marked, but there is a sign at hole #1 that tells you where to go.

Only 8 holes, and all are short.

No tee pads

Other Thoughts:

This course is close to the Kaanapali resorts, which makes it easy to hop over to if you're staying in that area. It's a fun little beginner's course with few obstacles. My wife and I played it about five times as it was quick to get over there and play for a bit before moving on to other activities. If you're looking for a challenge, this isn't it. If you're looking for a quick bit of disc golf fun, check it out.

Vacation fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy to find and a nice course to break up the typical vacation activities for disc enthusiasts. Some challenging holes, especially with the wind.

Cons:

Not well marked. Holes 1-4 are easy to find but the others aren't marked at all. We weren't sure what the pink dots on the path were for. Only has 7 holes.

Other Thoughts:

We mixed up the order of the holes and threw across the field, which let us throw some longer shots. Play early in the morning to minimize the wind effects.

Good, quick fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 24, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Not crowded in a well maintained park. It's a good place to work on your wind game, and the view of the ocean from #4 tee is sweet. Only permanent baskets around.

Cons:

Not very demanding and pretty short (200-250 ft). Only 6 holes that are pretty open.

Other Thoughts:

The safari potential is pretty good if you want to air it out a bit, which will definitely increase the fun factor

Nice Park
Lots of open space
Short enough to go around several times

Cons:

Could use at least 3 more baskets
Not well marked

Other Thoughts:

I was determined to throw my discs so I was happy to play this course. Its by no means a great course, but you have some great ocean views and its a nice enough park.

Fun small course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 17, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Well maintained grounds. If you are traveling, like I was, you could easily choose just one all around mid-range disc and a putter and you'll be good for having some fun. I went around 4 times.

Cons:

Short, but hey, you're in Hawaii.

Perfect Short Range/ Putting Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 5, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Located in beautiful Napili not for from the Maui Brewing Co. also ocean views.

Cons:

Really not a whole lot of space without losing your discs every which way (playground, locked baseball field, highway, creek.) Only 6 holes/ baskets.

Other Thoughts:

I recommend shooting only your short range game and putting, hole #5 is definitely the best long drive.

Maui Vacation disc golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 27, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

It's a place to play disc golf on the west side of Maui. Small 8 hole course with permenant baskets. A little bit of elevation on a couple holes. Nothing real big, but with wind, it can mess with throws. Views of Pacific Ocean are Great!

Cons:

Only 8 holes. Short course in and around 2 baseball fields a basketball court & a play area.

Other Thoughts:

There were a few people in park on fields and courts.I was careful with throws near them, but like others have said, it's a place to play disc golf on West side of Maui.
If able, drive out to 38 1/2 mile marker on Highway 30, and on left side of highway, there will be a cut out with some rounded rocks to park. Go to edge and look down at Nakalele Blowhole.Tides and waves need to be good in order for this spectacular sight.

Nice for Vacation 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 26, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Mostly that there is a place to throw your disc (at real baskets) while on vacation on Maui. Nice map - although there's already been a change in the layout that is not reflected in the map.

Cons:

In heavily used public park; so other activities could be a problem. Windy - but who can't use the practice throwing in wind?

Other Thoughts:

If no other activities in the park, you can probably make up some nice holes.

Pitch and putt 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 24, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Disc golf in Maui! Great ocean views. Great beginner course to introduce the game to new players.

Cons:

Very short holes. Only 8 baskets.

Other Thoughts:

Great place to get your discs in the air for a quick round if you're in the area. Pitch and putt golf with little challenge. Wind here adds some level of difficulty but every hole is easily birdiable. Was the only one in the park on a Sunday afternoon so I was able to play a little safari golf that let me break out the drivers. Wouldn't go out of my way to play it but it's a nice diversion if you're in the area.
