Close to Sequim, and right off the highway.
Hole 9 has an interesting water hazard near the pin.
Straightforward course concept

Course is overgrown with 4 ft tall grass along holes 2, 3, 4, & 5. No mowed fairway for any of them.
The tee pads and pins are difficult to locate because of both the tall grass and how closely packed in all the fairways are.
Highway noise can make talking with your group difficult.

This nine-hole course offers a nice variety of lengths from 215' out to 562', with holes averaging around 325'.

There is an interesting number and layout of trees, many of which appear to have been planted specifically for the DG course. The trees are thick conifers which do an amazing job of grabbing and holding discs. I don't think that I've had one fall from a tree yet. The trees aren't particularly tall, but they make many of the holes challenging in terms of shaping a drive and approach to the basket.

The only water in play is on Hole 9, but that basket is well guarded right-front by the pond, and an OOB road down the left side. The pond is full of vegetation and kinda' nasty, so don't expect to recover your disc until (unless?) things dry up.

The tee pads are just rough spots in the grass/mud. There are some rocks delineating the sides, but nothing more. When I've played the tees have been muddy and slick.

Tee signs are simple wooden signs with hole number and par. Distance info would be a nice addition.

The baskets are noted as homemade, but they are identical and symmetrical, and not bad. With 8 light outer chains and 4 inner chains, cut-throughs and chain-outs happen somewhat frequently.

Hole 8 has a playground potentially in play, especially for RHBH players. On the weekdays I've played there hasn't been any activity there, but I think you'd need to consider skipping the hole if there were children present.

Holes 6, 7, & 8 play on slightly lower ground and can be very soggy. Like 1" of water rising around your shoes soggy.

I very much appreciate this church building a decent nine-hole course and allowing public play. Upgrading of the tee pads and signs would go a long way towards improving a decent series of holes.

Sequim is pronounced "Skwim". There's my introduction.

Equipment: The baskets catch fine. End of equipment pros.

Navigation: There's a map in the kiosk when you pull in. Take a picture of it. Some of the holes have a map attached to the basket too, but many of these were torn or missing. One plus is that the baskets have very nice number plates on them, so you know if you're throwing to the right hole once you get there... And that basket you saw on your left when you pulled in? That's 1. The basket right by the 1 pad? That's 9. So you can just keep on playing if you so desire it.

Design: I guess the value of the design of this course really depends on what type of game you have. A lot of the baskets can't be seen from the teepad, and the small forest of Christmas trees that dot the property really do challenge you and guard the pins well. So there's your design pro. It can be challenging. And there are line options. There aren't really any holes that demand an anhyzer, but several demand a hyzer line and others give you different options. So this is nice, because you can play the course differently each time.

Equipment: The baskets are cheap and tall. I'm not sure if the height is a con or not, but it's definitely different. And the teepads, while bordered with rocks, are just slippery bits of mud or piles of dust depending on what time of year you're playing here.

Navigation: Without a map, this course gets confusing. And the property is so similar that half the time you aren't even sure if you're throwing at the right basket until you get there.

Design: Okay, good. I can finally open this review up. You thought I was finally going to write a short one, didn't you? Nope. The design of this course is kind of in between. It's longer than most niners, and even includes a par 4 (if you ignore the sign that says all holes are par 3 and instead go by this site). This is actually kind of cool. So it's aimed at a slightly higher level of player. But the property doesn't fit for good players, because none of the trees are more than 10' high. So all you have to do is throw a high hyzer for 1. Then do it again for 2. And 3. And so on. There's no variation if you're throwing the high lines. And if you are throwing the disc lower than 10' off the ground? Well, then you throw hole 1: A hyzer shot with OB left. Then hole 2: A hyzer shot with OB left. Then hole 3: A straighter shot with OB left. Then you crisscross the property for a bit, throw a super boring and wide open hole 8 past the playground, and finish out with hole 9: A hyzer shot with OB left. And right. And water. I think hole 9 is really the only hole here worth stopping for, and let's be honest... No single hole on a niner is worth stopping for. I guess my problem with this course is that it's too easy for advanced players, and too hard (long) for beginners. So who's the target audience?

Any time I play a course that's right off of a highway or a main thoroughfare, I view it as a potential "stretch your legs" course. And that's what this is, as long as it's not a Sunday. But if you're in the area, you're probably going somewhere close to Port Townsend. If you can hold your leg stretching for 20-30 minutes, go to Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park is worth multiple rounds. This one isn't really even worth one. So yes. If I lived in Sequim I'd play this in the evening and go to Lincoln on the weekends. But if I'm just passing by, I'm not even slowing down to see if these baskets are even still here.

Driving in you see the kiosk and map as you park with hole one starting right there throwing across the field toward the freeway with a mess of bushes to the left side. You will notice the baskets are a little taller so make sure you don't put low. Navigation is simple but in case you can't figure it out there is a map tied to every basket for even easier navigation.

This is one of the better nine hole courses around and probably the best church course I've ever played. Although limited in space the land is brilliantly used to create eight great holes and one only one clunker. Many baskets are tucked behind bushes and trees making for some interesting "jail" greens and approaches. Though most nine hole courses are usually of the pitch and putt style this course caters to a crowd of intermediate to advanced players and even carries a par four somewhere in the 600 foot range with lots of obstacles to get around early in the hole and a well defined fairway towards the end.

The only minor complaint I have on the entire course is hole eight and only because I don't like wide open holes. That being said it's not terribly long and the grass is short here (during the summer when I played) so a roller is a very good option here and there isn't anything really wrong with it design wise just not my cup of tee.

A few of the holes in the middle (two and three if I remember correctly) play right along the fence line and someone with poor accuracy could launch one into the freeway here. The hole is going the other way but I've seen much crazier things. That being said I love these holes and wouldn't want them changed.

I really enjoyed the layout here and I wish there were more nine hole courses with par fours and more geared toward advanced players. I don't see why we can't have less holes and still keep the challenge and this course proves you can do it. If you're driving through please stop in and play as long as it's not on Sunday.

This course in Sequim is laid out on a few acres next to a local church. I really expected this to be a typical park short 9 and was pleasantly surprised to find it a fairly challenging course.
The baskets, while homemade, were a good design and caught well. I had a couple I expected to spit out and didn't.
While it is a very flat course they make superb use of trees and mandos to make the holes challenging. There is rarely a straight run at the pin(9 being the exception, a narrow hole with OB on both sides and swamp to the side of the green!) so a hole that seems like an easy medium drive on paper turns into a tree filled nightmare.

Tees are a little short and rough. Is occasionally difficult to find next tee/pin as it is a tight course.
I liked the baskets but they are all taller than usual, took some getting used to.
Tee signs are minimal, more info would be nice to help navigation but course map is on kiosk by 1st tee.

I liked this course. Much more than I expected. Nicely challenging for a 9 hole and I can recommend this one if you are passing through.

This course is located on church grounds just off of highway 101. The 9 holes play down and around the church property. The church appears to be very welcoming to all disc golfers wanting to play on their course. The course is scattered with some evergreen trees causing you to throw over most of the time if you're wanting a good line to the basket. This is a good contrast to some of the other courses in the area that force you to find a line through. Navigation is pretty easy. The course flows quite well with maybe one exception. There's a map right by the first tee which makes it easy to just snap a picture with a smartphone and look at it throughout the round. Tee signs are lacking, but quite easy to see surprisingly. Course design is what really surprised me here. I came thinking I was just going to play another church's 9 hole pitch and putt, but it was actually a challenge in some places. Trees are placed in just the right places to make you think, but not too many to make you feel like you were just firing at random. Greens had trees protecting them, but not overcrowding them. 8 of the holes were able to be birdied, but you really had to work at it. This course doesn't just hand out 2's to you like a lot of 9 holers.

Tee pads are not very good. They could be worse, but they could also be much much better. They're often put on small slopes which make it difficult to get a good solid drive on. Tee signs were also lacking not even providing the distance. The baskets are homemade and are quite tall. I didn't happen to have a spitout but I can see how it could easily happen. Hole 8 has a playground near it which could become a problem if kids are playing. It's right next to the highway which I guess you could consider a plus for it being easy to find, but I found the noise a bit annoying while playing.

This course really surprised me! It's a fun little course to play if you're in the area, but personally, I wouldn't really travel to this course. For the land that they had to work with, it was utilized very well. I'd definitely play this again if I was ever stopped in Sequim.

A nice 9 hole challenge. The baskets are visible from the tee pads but no easy throws to the baskets. (Except maybe #2) The OB's are understandable and reasonable. I believe Hole #6 is a par 4 and it should be. Thoroughly enjoyed the 2 times around the course. The church staff are pleasant and even told us how to use their bathrooms.

Sunday's are probably a day not to play (of course, I'm at church somewhere anyway.)
If you're a beginner and have a problem going to the left...All the out of bounds are trouble for you and Hwy 101 is involved in some of those OB's. Dirt pads at tees are muddy and not level (most Northwest courses are that way.)

If there are kids playing on the playground...that throw might be a challenge (hole #8). I liked holes 1,4,9 for technical throws. Recommend playing this course any time during the week. UPDATE: Some work is being done around course to give it a more park like look, however, no one is keeping the tee pads weeded or it looks like no one is using them. I still enjoy playing here and I can see some very good changes coming.

The first thing you'll notice about Calvary Chapel's disc golf course is the large sign out on highway 101 reading "Public Disc Golf Course." Pretty welcoming, I'd say.

The course plays around the church in Sequim, up on highway 101 on the Olympic Peninsula. Sequim, in some kind of a geographic anomaly, sits in a sun belt on the rain forest, (heavy on the rain) part of Washington state. For some reason, known only to weather forecasters, Sequim recieves far less rainfall than the neighboring cities.
The church's property is a fairly tight fit between the highway and the property surrounding it giving the course tight out of bounds on most holes. The terrain is flat grassland with just enough scattered medium sized (20 feet tall) mostly pine trees to add to the difficulty. The course is long enough to be difficult with only # 2 playing under 275'. # 6 is listed as a Par 4 and plays an estimated 600'.

The pads are natural and a few are getting fairly rough and uneven. The signs are homemade and basic giving the hole # and par. I'd like to see the distance on them. The baskets are a pretty fair homemade copy of the real thing. They're made of all thinner guage materials. They stand a few inches taller and although they're double chained, they don't have the offical number of chains. I'm sure they'll spit a few putts out. They wouldn't stand up to the vandals in a public setting but here on church property, I think they'll be just fine. They also have the hole number cut out of the metal plate on the top.

The length along with the tight OB's make this course challenging. 1-7 play along the front (Highway) side of the church. Then # 8 plays along the back of the church and # 9 plays along the street right in front of the church and ends right at the # 1 teepad.

# 9 was my favorite hole. It's probable 275' but you're teeing off from a slightly elevated box. The basket sits just underneath a Weeping Willow tree with OB close on the left, a parking lot OB on the right and a wetland area right and front of the basket.
There's no room for error on your tee shot here.

The natural teepads are rough in places and will only get worse with more play. Replacing them with patio blocks would be great! The baskets are kind of strange looking. They're not vandal proof. I'm sure they won't catch as well as regular ones but.......I bet the church saved a few platefuls of offering coin by fabricating their own.
The course is pretty tough! I could play this course a lot and never par it. I know, I suck! But, what I'm saying is, This is no easy Pitch and Putt! But I wonder about the church youth groups or beginner types playing this course. It's really designed with their skill level in mind.

I don't know how much of a disc golf community there is up here on the peninsula. There is a course in Port Angeles, just a few miles up the highway, and one not so far down the highway south in Chimacum so maybe the sport is gaining in popularity up here too. I hope so.
