OK! I have to start off by saying this course is really amazing primarily because it IS a GOLF course, not just a disc golf course. Playing disc golf on this course really gives you the feeling of being a golfer which, in my opinion is what disc golf needs. Our sport needs to demand the respect for the players and the course that is expected in golf, and playing this course gives you that feeling. I am happy to be able to be one of the first reviewers of this amazing and I'm sure, soon to be popular disc golf destination.

So here's the breakdown:

-This course has outstanding maintenance and landscaping. The course is gorgeous. Like I said, it IS a golf course and the disc golf holes play right along with the golf course with the same fairways and tees. The baskets are usually around 75-100 feet from the greens and a little to either side, so you play disc golf as if you are playing golf. AMAZING. This course is beautiful and it will b very difficult to lose your disc other than in a water hazard. Did I mention it is right next to a beautiful and huge lake that comes into play on a few holes? Awesome!

-This course is extremely long. At the pro shop I believe they said it is currently the longest disc golf course in existence. Seriously, these holes are an average of 800 - 1300 feet! I used my distance driver 2X on most of the holes and I can throw about 325 easily with a standing throw. HUGE. LONG. This course from the blue tees is over 16,000 feet long. Big fun if you have a big arm and like to throw a LOT. I highly recommend renting the golf cart. You will be completely worn out if you don't.

-Amenities abound. There are benches at every tee and several water coolers and shade boxes. There is a pro shop that sells food, beer, discs, clothing, bags, minis and has nice bathrooms. *You must stop in the pro shop before you play since it is pay to play.

-This course has a good amount of elevation change. It is relatively gradual, but there are some fun down hill drives here.

-Friendly staff. I am so excited to see people treating disc golfers like golfers. We deserve this.

-GOLF CARTS! Did I mention golf carts? This place has golf carts. You will need one and it is so awesome to not have to carry my heavy disc golf bag on my back the whole round but still have all my discs to choose from. YES!

-Multiple tees. I believe each hole offers 4 or 5 distances/ skill levels to tee from. Although the differences don't seem to have a huge impact from a disc golf perspective it is still very nice.

-It is only about 45 minutes from Tulsa, which is a great disc golf city.

-Re-tire baskets. I love the concept of these baskets. There are made in Oklahoma and catch discs really well, especially for those that pound the chains pretty hard.

Of course, there are always some downsides.

-No tee pads. Being that this is a golf course and you are teeing off from the same area the golfers do, I'm not sure this will ever change. The good news is the tee areas are flat enough and mowed well enough that you can still have a good run-up and deliver great distance drives.

-No tight fairways and not many challenging dog-legs. The only real challenge here for disc golfers is the extreme length of the holes. This is just a draw back of having a disc golf course playing along a golf course. They are two different sports and balls and discs just don't fly the same. Many disc golfers (including myself) would like to see at least 5 or 6 holes with some tighter tunnels to shoot through and/or some sharp dog legs for right or left hook shots. For disc golf, this course is very wide open which allows for more error in accuracy on your first 2 or 3 throws. A slight change in design might be able to use the trees more as obstacles in the fairway and be more challenging. The way it is now, long bombers will have a field day and not be punished much for slightly wild drives.

-Pay to play. I don't really count this as much of a downside because without money coming in, you would have a tough time maintaining such a big and beautiful course. As disc golfers, we are used to playing for free in many public parks. I can see several benefits to private courses. For one thing, They keep out most of the kinds of people that would trash course and disrespect or distract the other players. It cost around 40-50 dollars for 2 people to play 18 holes with 1 cart. This is pretty decent for a good golf course if I remember correctly. I will gladly pay this price again and again to play here.

I don't know how common it is to have a disc golf course on a golf course but YOU MUST PLAY THIS COURSE. I would love to see this as the future of our beloved sport and I imagine this course becoming a destination for pros and ams that are willing to pay the green fees and have a wonderful experience. This would be an excellent place for a National Tour tournament. If I lived near here I would be playing this course all the time and be taking my game more seriously. This course is taking the sport to the next level and raising the standard.
