Short, Great Beginner Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 30, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Well Maintained: The grass is mowed, and the baskets and pads are in good condition
-Baskets: Baskets are marked, and look brand new
-Easy to follow: The course is small enough that it is difficult to get lost
-Variety of Shots: Holes vary such that most are a unique challenge

Cons:

-Signs: Signs are installed, but only have a distance on a little sticker (?). Perhaps are not finished yet...
-Pads: Tees are very small, and feel cramped
-Holes close together: With much traffic, errant discs from other holes could become dangerous

Other Thoughts:

It is a fun course to play, and an easy one to score on. If you're looking for a challenge in the area, go for Carey Park in Hutchinson, but this is not a terrible course. It also plays very quickly.

Basic beginner course. Keep the drivers in the trunk. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 7, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good beginner level course. Logical easy to follow flow with concrete tees and quality pole holes. Not crowded in too close to other park amenities. Great place for P&A practice or to get the kids interested in disc golf. Some OB to add challenge.

Cons:

Not much in the way of challenge for people whose skill level is beyond a beginner. Pretty much every hole can be reached from the teebox, some with a putter. Too few trees. Tee pads are a bit too small for adult players, and have rough spots around them that could be a tripping hazard.

Other Thoughts:

Pretty much your basic small town pitch and putt, which is what it was meant to be designed for. In all honesty, there wasn't a whole lot for the designer to work with here, and they got the best result they could here with a nearly flat sparsely wooded piece of land. As of this review, this course hasn't seen a Summer yet, so I'm interested to see how this thing closes up once foliage starts filling in on the trees. But they really need to plant some more greenery.

Somewhat off of major highways, so unless you're trying to run your course count up, I'd pass this one by unless you have a kid or newbie in tow. There are more challenging courses in the area.

Confidence Builder, still needs work 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 18, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

The holes flow fairly well. The course is brand new and the baskets are very nice. The distances on each hole aren't very high so a beginner wouldn't get overwhelmed.

Cons:

Compared to other courses I've played, this course is too easy in my mind. There really isn't many obstacles or other challenges. It'd be a good beginner course though. The course also sits in a small area, it sits next to a grade school and a couple of baseball fields. It's easy to throw a disc over but they are easy enough to get back. Finally the tee pads are concrete but they are smaller than normal. It's best to start further back on an opening drive.

Other Thoughts:

This course in my mind is great for beginners or a confidence builder. If you're going to be in Hutch, Buhler is a good warm up. If this course is going to be as good as Hutch's course, it'll need a lot of work.
