Meh, not bad.. But nothing to write home about 2+ years drive by

Pros:

First off, given the area which the course is located on, it was a pretty good use of the terrain. There were a lot of pros, and I will start there first. The course starts off snaking around the perimeter of the driving range. Really not the best holes to start, and if this was my starting area I would have been pretty depressed. Hole two tried to make use of multiple paths to the basket, with it being on a mound of mulch. However both the RHFH hyzer and RHBH hyzer routes weren't really there. In that you will not get to the basket if you take these two routes. Given the proximity of the tree line and driving range netting. So that leaves you to throw up the middle, at a gap which is kinda there but then again not exactly. The elevated basket was an interesting idea, but the mulch was not easy to walk on. And for older folks with lower extremity issues this could potentially be dangerous. The next couple holes really had nothing going for them, except that there was OB in play and were 220-275 feet up the middle shots. Kinda, meh in a way. Coming out to the hole which drove to the water over the putting green (#6?). Solid use of a water hazard, but a blind drive, a steep grade to a blind basket placement? Not the best idea IMO. I saw numerous solid drives end up rolling OB after landing on the steep decline. Maybe keep the pad location, but moving the basket to a visible location from the tee pad along the pond? The next 2 holes really allowed you to rip some drives, and played OB along the left side of the fairway. Pretty good holes IMO. Other than that, the holes that played toward or away from the water were pretty solid. All the others, not so much. I also was not a fan of the mini hole that was #18. I mean, really? Fun concept, but not for a round of 18 golf holes. I loved that island hole with the small landing area. That one really made you place your shot for birdie.

Cons:

Course conditions were pretty bad after the rain. The mud was a bit much, but manageable. Next time, try and secure some better portable baskets ahead of time? Those smaller Innova travelers were not really appreciated. I think securing 18 portable baskets based on the traditional permanent ones would immediately make the course a ton better. They're good for putting practice, but not much else. The walk up to #17's tee was a little random, that could use some re-design for next year. There was also no use of the woods along the perimeter of the course. If there were a couple pads or baskets placed maybe 20 feet in, that would have been a nice change of pace.

Other Thoughts:

All in all, a good course for what it was. Some re-design with more difficult pad/basket placements would be appreciated. And all you dudes with more traditional traveling baskets, please bring them! Or get them from people you know for the day. I know there's at least 18 in the triangle area..
