Great short beginner course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great short course
The campus was easy to park at
no one on course
great marked tee pads
good signs and great baskets
easy to follow

Cons:

super short holes a few of them so better for beginners

Other Thoughts:

for 1 walk to the north side of the dorm, the 1st baskets you see driving in are baskets 4.

Best in Okmulgee 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 29, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice campus-style DGC. Good signage with long and wide concrete tees. We drove in from Tulsa and used the 56 Loop Highway to get to the DGC, so we parked at the parking lot to the North of the entry road and played hole 5 first.

Cons:

On holes 6 and 7 we played to the wrong baskets (as noted below, some of the baskets are in close proximity to the next tee AS WELL AS other baskets). On these two tees look for the #6 and #7 baskets down the left side of the fairways. These baskets are close to the walking path that is left of these two tee pads. All of the concrete tee pads are of a smooth finish (could be slippery in the rain).

Other Thoughts:

The only worth while DGC in Okmulgee. The municipal course has been neglected.

Go Pokes 2+ years

Pros:

This course plays quickly and you can get in multiple rounds here. Chances of losing a disc here, slim to none.
For such a short course it does provide a few lines that you must hit in order to score well.
A couple of the holes will provide you with ACE run potential.
Good for beginners or those looking for midrange practice. Signage was adequate and tee pads were plenty long allowing for a proper run up.
Here are my hole observations:
1-short hole with a low celing
2-plays over a basketball court with the basket out in the open
3-open hole with the dorms on the left
4-same as 3 but a bit longer
5-shortest hole on the course has 2 trees to throw under
6-moderate length hole with a walking trail on the left hand side
7-has a tight window to hit off the tee box, slight dog leg to the right
8-moderate length hole, basket protected by some trees
9-has a couple of trees to navigate around and is slightly uphill

Cons:

Hole #2 plays right over a basketball court. If there was a game going on this would be an issue. Some tees and baskets were a little closer than most places. This would be an issue if this course got heavy traffic, most likely won't be an issue when you play though. There is a chance, a very small one, that you could hit the dorms on holes 3 & 4.
No other amenities, no benches, no trash cans.
Wind will factor in here on most of the shots because they are pretty much in the wide open.

Other Thoughts:

For a short little campus style course, this course is a fun play. It doesn't have any holes over 350 so those players looking for a place where they can air out drives will be disappointed. However those players that want to improve their midrange game and still have a decent challenge will most likely like what this course has to offer. For those players that are new to the sport, or anyone just looking to kick back and play a laid back casual style of a round, this is the place to do just that.
Its not a destination course by any means but it is 100 times better than its across town older sister(don't even bother driving to the Municipal course, trust me). If you are passing through and want to get in a quick round and take a run at those chains then hit this course up.
