Private course on Boy Scout Camp Snyder excludes it from normal public park nuisances and general safety concerns like playing over roads and such. Dual white and blue natural tees on the majority of the current 18 holes provide good variance in championship length and challenge for each hole. Two loops of 9 holes white and red loops that circle back from opposite sides of the main disc golf parking lot. 18 Discatcher baskets that are well placed for challenge due to OB roads, ponds, marsh, tall grass/rough and mound obstacles with some fast greens. The white loop baskets are powder coated white, and assuming the red loop will be powder coated red. Wind is a big challenge and some rolling elevation and mounds adds a little flavor. The designers did a phenomenal job working with what is available and taking advantage of the unique features of the property. Restrooms with running water near parking lot.

Lacking in the hardwood tree department, there is zero shade on this side of the course, and somewhat limited variety of shot shaping required than the more traditional wooded fairways. The main obstacle is OB and elevated mounds which is all over the course, so landing in safe zones from OB is the name of the game here, and many of those OB lines are hard to see/judge from the tees with many blind landings and blind basket positions. Lots of ticks(found 3 on myself and everyone else on my cards found even more on them), some poison ivy(not bad at all though), tall grass, sharp rough plants, not hard to lose a disc.

I'm sure tee signs, next tee arrows, and fairway mowing(Red loop) and more OB markers will be added as the course comes into maturity, however they do not exist at the moment. Some taller basket flags would help many of the holes. It took over 2 hours just to play the 9 hole red loop long tees as a threesome due to finding discs in tall grass even in the fairways, and locating next tees that are unmarked. It was also hard to find baskets the first time through with many of them being blind and extra walking down long fairways, but it is much easier the second time around.

The Haymaker reminds me of Carousel Park,DE with more OB, but not as much fun factor, elevation, and woods. There are many things I like, and a few things I don't like about it as mentioned above. The style of play is far different than I'm used to because the course is more about hitting a landing zone than hitting a line down a fairway of trees. The course favors players with big distance that have good short game, so it probably plays well to the super gold level players like the Memorial in AZ.

From the short white tees it is a decent par 3 course with some teeth, and from the long blue tees it is mostly a longer par 4 course with some sharper teeth. The majority of my tee shots were just big play it safe hyzers where the OB is heavy, some were controlled straight distance shots and occasionally a true grip it and rip it distance shot. There are some long holes that required 2 full driver shots to reach the pin for me, and for many players it will be 3, and beginners might be 4 or 5, so this is not a course for beginners from the long tees and even the shorts will be tough for beginners. There are also some reachable baskets off the tee, but they are more protected. Some tees are elevated about 20' up and provide some fun and treacherous throws to the flat playing area. Another tee has a mound right in front you have to throw up and over back to a flat playing surface. Meanwhile other hole you play around the mounds or up to the basket on the mound. Great use of the mounds!

Plans to build another two 9 hole loops in the 400 acre section of woods to make this 36 holes of championship length disc golf. Also plans to add dual baskets for holes for even more variety of layouts. I will be interested to see this course when all 36 holes are completed especially with the woods being incorporated, and that will most likely potentially up my rating. Big thanks to the NOVA disc golf crew for getting this course going and can't wait to see it in the woods.

The course is private, so you need permission to play. Enter the main entrance of Camp Snyder and turn left immediately into the main parking lot, drive all the way through the main parking lot and continue down the gravel road, you will see baskets and the disc golf parking lot on the left. White loop plays from parking lot counter clockwise. Red loop starts across the road next to the pond and plays clockwise.

White & Red Loops:

Professional design for championship level play. Plenty of elevated tees and pins, with USDGC style OB. Top of the line new Discatcher 28 baskets, for extra catching ability in windy conditions. White tees are mostly par 3's, but certainly not gimmies. Blue tees are mostly par 4, ranging from Huge drives to placement drives and strategy. Avoiding OB strokes, staying in the fairway, and reading wind is the name of the game here.

Still in it's beginning stages, only 9 permanent baskets of the full 36 holes installed. Additional temporary baskets are used for events.
