Absolutely perfect place to introduce new players to the game. Holes are generally 200' or less. You're not losing a disc here. And for parents wanting to get their young kids into the sport, I have a hard time believing there are very many better options anywhere in the country.

-Despite being short, many holes have unique and interesting hole shapes.
-Very pretty woodland setting.
-Course was very well maintained.
-Baskets and tee pads all in very good shape.
-Option to play a short (9 hole) or full (18 hole) loop.

-It's really really short. There's just no way of getting around that. Bring your putter and a Zone and that is really all anyone would need.
-In a state park, so there is an entrance fee.

Some courses are really well designed and maintained, but by their nature of being purpose-built it's hard to rate them highly. This is one of those courses. It was clearly designed for families and casual players, and it hit the mark perfectly. But it's also difficult to rate the course too high, given the course would lack replay value for the average player.

It's hard for me to imagine a better beginner course, fantastic introduction to the sport for new players.

Farragut could really use another course that sits in between the difficulty of Little Black Bear and Northstar. Something with lots of 175' to 275' holes.

Great distances for kids/new players/entire families

This is the best kids course I've ever played with my daughter. The holes were well laid out. Good distance varieties. Gorgeous scenery. Just a fun course for the family. I found it fun as a 900+ rated adult, and my family had a great time too. Truly the best short course I've ever played.

A rather tame looking course might make you miss the Occasional gopher hole - watch you step.

A day of disc golf a Farragut State Park, Wonderful place.

The fact that Farragut State Park has a Disc Golf Coordinator should tell you all you need to know. With three solid courses already in the park, adding this great little beginner/kids course is just icing on the cake.

What makes this little course such a wonderful experience for the beginner/family type player is the fact that it's designed just like a regular course, only in miniature. The baskets are brand spanking new Discatchers with the yellow bands and the hole numbers facing the correct way, that is, back to the tee box. The tee boxes are concrete miniatures. But you need no run up on these short holes. There are no signs but the flow of the course is so obvious anyone could follow it.

The design is extremely well thought out. Only hole # 1 is straight but it's basket is placed in a grouping of large boulders making for a very cool opening hole. The rest of the holes are either hyzers or annies. # 7 is very short, 76', but forces you to throw a high annie. # 8 features a tree right in the middle of the fairway leaving you the option of going around it either way.

All are ACE runs for the average player making for a great little warm up or cool down after playing the park's other courses.

Absolutely none that I can see. Maybe it should have it's own concession stand selling ice cream and Little Black Bear novelty items for the kiddies.

If Farragut State Park in Athol, Idaho has Jason as it Disc Golf Coordinator and features four courses? Think of how many state parks there in the U.S.A? If every state park would hire a Disc Golf Coordinator position? And then install four courses at each park? There's 45,000 + members here on DGCR. Probably 1/2 of them are unemployed? I see gainful employment for many of our DGCR members!

This course is excellent for a couple of different groups. First would be families trying disc golf for the first time, or with young kids. All of these holes are playable and challenging for new DG'ers.

The second group is more experienced disc golfers who want to work on approach shots and putting. Play a couple of putter-only rounds out here and you'll be better for it.

Nine great little holes, with eight of them being between 100' and 135', and one even shorter at 76'.

With the exception of the first hole, all holes have either a dogleg, a bend, or trees for obstacles, so it is a good place to work on approach lines.

Small concrete teepads (all you need) and Innova baskets are in good shape.

This is a great course to warm up on before playing the other courses at the park. You can play the nine holes in about 15 minutes.

This is not intended to be a "regular" course so I don't really see any cons. There is no distance here, as this is a good putter-only course. If that isn't what you are looking for, play one of the other three at the park.

I play this as a quick warm-up before I play any of the others at the park. I sometimes play two or three rounds just to work on shaping approach shots or little forehand flicks.

On the rare occasions that my wife wants to play, we play this one and she enjoys it. It is a great compliment to the other, more typical DG courses in the park.

Jason, the DG coordinator at the park, tells me that there are plans to add 9 more holes to this one. Why not??

This course is specifically designed for the beginner or a family, especially with young ones. Nothing longer than 129' and the shortest is 76'. It serves its purpose well. Each hole has some obstacle to overcome, either an island throw, a left or right bend down a tunnel, or one true dogleg where you have to wrap it around some trees.

The course is at the end of the parking lot where the other 3 courses at Farragut State Park are located. It is also a great place to warm up before a round,

No cons. The course succeeds in its goals to be what it is. A great place for a family to play a little game together or for a beginner to get a feel of things.

With the other 3 courses here it is a wonderful place to spend a weekend or week playing disc golf, swimming, camping, hiking, biking, and many other outdoor activities.
