Treetops updated review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course has some amazing scenery with unusual but fun holes. The first hole is far down a hill and u can just rip ur disc down it with ease. With other interesting holes throughout. Then u finish with hole 9 which is a steap up hill hole that gave me a bit of a challenge

Cons:

However, there are no cement tees so on some of the holes the tee is very sandy and unstable. And the baskets are a little low end

Other Thoughts:

Overall im 15 and ive played a decent amount of courses in the past 3 years and this one was definitly one of my favorites

This course and Crystal Mountain should get together and have one terrible mini course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Aesthetics-- plays through scenic ski hills in a small northern michigan town. Area is surrounded by a ton of other amenities but the disc golf area/ski hills are pretty exclusive. That is my one positive.

Cons:

Baskets-- nightmarish home made single chain crap. Very visible because they are bright colors on hillsides.

Routing and navigation-- absolutely nightmarish. Not a clue where to start, no map, no direction and no clue. you spend more time wandering than doing anything else and when it's on a ski hill, its not all that fun.

Teesigns-- Just a number. no distance, no directionality, no diagram... doesn't help the routing a bit.

Teepads-- sand sand and more sand. Terrible footing.

Design-- obviously not designed by a disc golfer. lines make no sense and don't lend themselves to a good flow.

Other Thoughts:

Don't waste your time with this one.

Very disapointing after finally finding 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 16, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

I try to find at least 1 pro..
+Hole 4 was pleasant.
+Scenery was nice, nice elevations
being it is a ski resort. - however, I never
broke a sweat

Cons:

-'Resort Drive' is where? It is not marked off
the main drag, look for the Treetops Golf
Course sign.
-Nothing anywhere is marked
-No score cards, the map I finally got in the restaurant is a joke! No really, it's pretty funny!
-Hole 1 was not marked, had to play it on the way out
-Hole 2 is a gradual downhill, nothing exciting whatsoever
-They say hole 3 is 'LOOONG', it's not
-Hole 5 is a short boring dog leg right, I hit the post with forearm 'Flick'
-Hole 6 is just a short throw over a little valley, right before the basket on the other side of the valley is REALLY thick muck, overthrow it a little (5 feet) and you will be fine
-Hole 7 is what they call a 'switchback', it's a hard dog leg left
-Hole 8 they say 'I hope you brought your driver', it's over a small valley, pretty easy to deuce
-Hole 9 is maybe 160' with about a 10' total elevation change going up. Hit the pin with a Stalker.
-None of the holes are marked with distances
-The bottoms of the baskets won't even hold a disc! The openings are too big and most of the time my discs fell through!
-I had to ask 3 different staff members where to go and nobody knew, on top of that, 2 of them were pretty rude.

Other Thoughts:

^Nothing, and I mean nothing about this course was a challenge except figuring out where it was! Drive all the way until you get to the restaurant.
^Hole 1 starts just left of the restaurant by the lifts.
^I dislike that this is a course on here, if it wasn't listed as an actual course and you just found it because you were here skiing or golfing and this was just something to do, it would be a sort of challenge after a 12 pack. But being listed as an 'actual disc golf course'? Really?
^I guess they do rent disc for $5 each, but I am not sure where you would rent them
^I do not recommend playing here at all

Okay short 9... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 26, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good holes, elevation. Challenging. Gaylord's only course.

Cons:

Baskets - they're home made and 6 feet tall with missing bottom rings. Your disc fall out easily.

Tee pads are very close to baskets on a few holes.

Signage isn't very good. No distance measurements.

Other Thoughts:

Definitely has potential to be a great course. Just needs some time. Of course I was spoiled with Hanson Hills being my home course

Some baskets are missing at this time.
