Other Thoughts:

Somebody's working really hard to create a good disc golf course here, but the elements are working against them. Much of the front 9 is low and swampy; the back 9 is full of wooded and rocky hillsides.

There are several ponds on the property that are used well on the opening holes

After the third hole, you're in the woods. The front 9 feels like it's been around longer: the throwing lines are pretty easy to see, and while they make use of guardian trees to shape your shots, the holes aren't particularly tight. The back 9 tees and baskets have been placed among the existing woods, seemingly with no tree trimming or removal. So there are a lot of holes on the back 9 where you're just throwing through woods with no real fairways, or even clear ways to walk to the basket

The back 9 is not for the faint of heart. You're going to be scrambling up and down steep hillsides covered in rocks. Finding a good stance can be really hard. The woods are pretty thick, and you'll be making up your own throwing lines on a lot of the holes

The efforts to build a course are obvious. Poured tees on the front 9, bridges across low spots, tees being worked on in the deep woods. Signage was minimal, but some new wooden signposts on the back 9, so it's probably a work in progress. I'm a big fan of courses that exist because of local club members' love of the game, and their desire to build their own course. They're doing the most they can at Linesville, but the topography is working against them

If you don't like wet feet, standstill throws or turned ankles, you're probably not going to enjoy playing here, even though many of the holes themselves are pretty good. Play the front 9 on a dry day, and then choose whether to venture onto the back 9 - or move on to another course in the area, like Hickory Run or American Legion

5 stars! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 16, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-concrete tee pads
-shot selection off the tee. Disc down to ensure you hit the fairway and get the par. disc up and go for the park job or hit a tree for the bogey.
-tons of work put in by the members. Navigating the course is easy, bridges over standing water.

Cons:

-drainage issue on some holes, but members put in work to fix the drainage or build walk ways over it.
-no signs on the tee pads of hole number and distance

Other Thoughts:

Most fun course in the area. I play hickory often (it's 10 minutes from the house) and played the American legion a bunch. This course blows those 2 out of the water.

Great Surprise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is mostly wooded with a few open holes. The fun factor of this course is very high. It is a mix of very doable birdies with a bunch of tough par 3s. Every hole on the course is a par 3 but I would rate the SSA at 56.

Cons:

Due to the swampy nature of the entire area you will encounter gnats and mosquitoes.

Other Thoughts:

One tee pad could use a bunker to the right of it to protect from error shots from a later hole.

Really under rated course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 6, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Quick list: Tee pads, orange DGA catchers, signage from hole to hole, wooden bridges, landscaping, paths, variety of shots.

Hole 1 is championship caliber from the longs. Just wow... So picturesque throwing over the lake (read in an earlier every that was suggested. Kudos to you all for listening) I did so blind and got extremely lucky. I did not see the other pond to the left. I forehanded it left of the large evergreen straight off the tee and got lucky that it faded onto the peninsula (posting pictures). Shot tee on one give you a nice safe option.
Hole 2: is a nice backhand off the tee.
Hole 3: has a little elevation up to a basket 10 feet away from the pond. Kind of a blind shot if you're short like me.
Hole 4: there is two trees right in front of you 25 feet away. Thread that needle.
Cool path to hole 5 with rocks bordering a small pond.
Hole 5: again tight and basket is tucked in to the left. Threw a stable Matrix mid right down the middle and wanted it to fade in, but hit a tree... (also think I lost my yellow BCDGA mini on this hole. If you find it enjoy)
Hole 6: nice uphill elevation change. Backhanded a Truth and watched it glide straight. You can just see the top yellow part of the basket to the left.
Hole 7: takes you back down the hill. HIT the chains for the first time this year.
Hole 8: Throw a Crank low right down the middle. Met a local walking the course looking for deer tracks. Says he doesn't see anyone playing the course. Told me to go to Hickory Run, but I ran out of daylight. Bridge to 9 is a long wooded bridge throw the woods. Just a neat visual to walk though.
Hole 9: give you a line to the left and right. I hit neither. Starts to get ROCKY.
Hole 10: has a nice bench surrounded by rocks. Again lines for backhand and forehand but tighter than 9.
Hole 11: is super tight. Forehand to the basket.
Hole 12: I really didn't know what way to throw. Cannot see the basket. You throw back towards 11. I just got it to the top of the ridge and then when from there. The basket is left of the main gap over the big rock.
Hole 13: again just a super tight hole.
Once more a really cool winding path to 14
Hole 14: backhand and bird.
Hole 15: My downfall... You have to poke one to the right and let it carry in. I hit left and never recovered and was jailed the whole way. 6.....
Hole 16: is just a grip it and grip it down the fairway straight. This was more like the openness I am used to.
Hole 17: basket is to the left towards the road.
Hole 18: has two baskets. Shot that you can see from the tee pad and long which you pass on the way to hole one long box. I played both. Putter at short basket and a World at the long. Both shots are really enjoyable coming down the hill.

Cons:

A little wet in spots, but like I mentioned the local walking the course told me is was all swamp when he was growing up and that they really made the best out of the land.

Not cart friendly after hole 9.
I found to be true at all courses in the area.

Tee signs where not posted. Assuming because it is early spring and they are waiting for Memorial Day?

Highway does run right along much of the course, but I remedied that by playing music. Really did not notice for the rest of the round.

I might be a little OCD,,,, here, but hole 5 and another basket number plate are not facing the tee box. This is something a lot of players look for them throwing to a basket. Especially when there are many baskets in eyesight from one another.

Other Thoughts:

This course is what I see in my head when I think of a disc golf course.

I gave it a 5 because if I lived here in all honesty I would probably play this course every day.

Out of the four courses I played in the area this was my favorite by far. (Francis Dam original and top, and American Legion)

I am form the West side of PA and I truly found this to be a hidden gem.

Really great wooden bridges and paths. I could really tell this was something that they spent a lot of time on and it is much appreciated.

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 18, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I love the fact that shot placement is very important. Sometimes you have to play the design, not the distance. The holes are mostly easy to follow, but I am sure they are working on signage, as the posts are already in (most WITH bag hangers!).
The way the course is looking is great! Kudos to the people doing the paths and stone gardens!
Early morning rounds have many deer, squirrels, and some hawks.

Cons:

Water through the course can be an issue after heavy rains. Rocky terrain mixed with ferns now so WATCH YOUR DISC LANDING!! You don't want to spend a lot of time looking for a disc, that you will find...eventually, lol!

Other Thoughts:

I really like this course.

Two rounds at Linesville 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 20, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A Challenging course for AM2 and AM1 (for record I'm AM2). Concrete pads on most holes, ones without have the frame in place to put in, so I expect the next time I get up in this area to play (and I will definitely go here), that they would be completed.

Next tee arrows clearly visible and course was easy to navigate.

Cons:

Lack of tee signs or course map are the only things that instantly pop into my head.

Would have liked to have a shot over the pond.

Couple holes are next to the highway, not really a concern for me but maybe off putting to some. Thought it needed to be mentioned.

Other Thoughts:

After almost tee'ing off on one to the wrong basket, I finally figured out which basket was for one. The first three holes give you a false sense of how this course is. After 3 holes and being -3 I thought this was going to be a pitch and putt course.

I was dead wrong.

Once you get into the wooded area this course shines. Each hole gets progressively harder and longer. I had to really shape some shots to make par.

I would have liked to given this course a 4 star, but I think it needs to grow a little bit. Tee signs and a course map would really help out. I enjoyed this course so much that I immediately played a second round and better my score by 5 strokes.

Looking forward to playing this again.

Line 'Em Up 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 23, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

18 concrete tees (looks like they will all be concrete) and single bright orange Mach V baskets. Course is pretty easy to navigate with directional arrows on baskets and tees not too far away. This is a solid intermediate to advanced level course playing through some heavy woods, moderately hilly and rocky terrain with a mix of short to long par 3s. Nice use of the elevation and natural rock features and pond/creek. Course loops back to the starting area after hole 8. Portapotty in the parking lot.

Cons:

There is little tee signage currently although I'd expect that to be in the works soon. The terrain is fairly rocky and wet in lower places. Some of the holes are a bit short and play a little close together. The highway is right next to the course and a little distracting, but not a big deal.

Other Thoughts:

Overall Linesville is a fun little wooded and hilly technical course. The holes seemed to progress in length and toughness as you go through the round except for the last two holes. Hole 1 is fairly short but there's a gap to hit and creek to cross and pond to the left of the basket. At first glance I thought nothing of this hole, but when I went to putt I realized there is water hazard not that far from it. Hole 2 is another short flat semi-open hole with the basket hard to the left. Hole 3 is the most open hole, but the basket is right on the edge of the pond, I puckered up and threw my putter drive way short. Hole 4 then takes you into the rolling rocky terrain and heavy woods and starts to lengthen up. The back 10 holes were my favorite except for 17 and 18. There are some fantastic wooded par 3 holes. It would awesome if hole 17 could be made longer, possibly dogleg right down 18's fairway. The grand finale to this slight design change would then be to tee from in the elevated woods down into the open with the basket by the pond!

A Work In Progress 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 13, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Kudos and thank you to all the hard work that's obviously been done on this course! Keep up the good work!
*Mostly short and technical, water in play on a couple of holes.
*Cement tee pads that are in are very nice, and crushed stone worked well on the others.
*Next tee signage was helpful.

Cons:

*Completed course will hopefully include pin signage, as I had no idea what I was throwing at on a few holes! May have even missed a hole around 6ish because I stepped up to a tee and all I saw were trees! Probably my bad.
*Tees/Pins can be close to each other, so the layout is a little tight.
*Layout seems to favor RHBH, except for one or two RHFH.
*The noise of the highway was very prevalent on most of the course, which is a negative for me but may not bother others.
*Lower course in a bit of a wetland area, though some footbridges have been built, may be unplayable after heavy rains.

Other Thoughts:

I hope there is enough of a DG population in the area to support this and other nearby courses!

Nice mix of short/long holes, some with water in play
Navigation is pretty simple

Cons:

Hole 4 is a bit unfair from the teebox

Accuracy is a must to go low 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 16, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Located in a small community park, overall it's wooded, tight and technical.
New Mach 5's and Innova targets. Most of the tees are concrete, the others are crushed stone. (course still under construction)
Next tee arrows guide you throughout the course.
Good use of elevation changes, creating fast greens and tricky putting situations.
Portable toilets. Plenty of parking
conveniently located near route 80.

Although the course is relatively short its by no means a birdie fest. Good tough design.

Cons:

At the time I played not all the tees were complete with concrete however they are still playable and consisted of crushed stone.

Other Thoughts:

This course is a nice addition to the surrounding course portfolio.
Very fun to play, it will reward the accurate player and punish you if your having a bad day. Most of the holes are on the shorter side so recovering from a bad tee shot isn't out of the question.
The course is new eventually will be one of the better courses in the area. The people who are building it are doing good things, keep up the good work.

Yesterday is History, Today this course ROCKS !!! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 25, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is in the process of a major redesign------------- -

Innova Mach 5 (Orange, basket well color/with Orange band ring on top of the basket), makes it so much easier to locate.

White wooden arrows point the disc golfer to the next tee.

To have big cement tee pads on this course is remarkable.

Strong club presence (otherwise all this work wouldn't be getting done, and I'm not just talking about the course. noticeable work that I saw was rock landscaping, and general landscaping).

several fast greens.

plenty of parking

Cons:

Very Rocky Terrain!!

Drainage on the first 3 holes could present a problem, but It didn't for me.

New design isn't completed, (but I found every tee, fairway, basket with minimal problems considering not all the tee signs had been installed)

Lots of deer to play around

Other Thoughts:

I'm glad I decided to stop and play this course today despite the rating. Because today this course won't be a 2 star course ever again. Someone or from the looks of it, many people have a vision that's going to transform this course to one of the BEST courses (IMHO) in this area (I-80 corridor).

Once you start playing holes # 4 -18 (IMHO) your in for a treat.

a tale of 2 courses 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 3, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

LOTS of improvements since I played here in May! Pathways, bridges and signage! Nearby FEW and Hickory Run could take a lesson in navigation from Linesville. A number of finished tees. Quite an achievement in such a short time. 9 of the holes and the practice hole have excellent orange mach 5 baskets. They smartly start you off on 3 friendly holes before introducing you to the true nature of this highly technical course. A number of the holes are well thought out and fun, as well as challenging. Played this with my brother and 2 friends this time around. We all have somewhat different throwing styles, but all manged to enjoy much of the course. Strongly favors RHBH, but lefties (me) can still get around.

Covered pavilion and trash cans near the 1st tee. Close to I80 and the PA Pike.

Cons:

Drainage is something of an issue, but they seem to making progress with wooden walkways. 9 holes use the awful innova baskets.

Two short holes (numbers 7 and 17, I think) are pretty much the exact same hole. Alternate pin on one would be a good idea.

Hole 8 has the beginnings of a fairway, but once out 120 ft or so, it just turns into a luck shot. In fact holes 8 and 10, along with a couple of back 9 holes, seem to just be a randomly placed tee and basket. Surprising, considering some of the other well designed holes. 10 is particularly bad; the fairway, what there is of it, slopes sharply to the previous hole. Not safe. Hole 9 needs a bit more definition and the basket it placed in a jumble of rocks and boulders. It looks neat, but will be a nightmare when covered and or slippery.

Practice basket has to be moved, it is in play on number 3 and the long tee for hole 1. Do not know what they were thinking here.

Other Thoughts:

The tireless work done here is admirable. This course, though not yet ready for organized play, will be an excellent addition to the nearby venues. The concerns mentioned need to be addressed but are not intended harshly. They have done amazing work so far. I will surely be back.

I80 DG List is Growing 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 14, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course will only get better with time. Got a chance to meet with one of the course designers while I was there. These guys are determined to build a diverse course and it's great to see a local city municipality support the sport's growth. You have to see the 2 orange coded Mach5 targets they just installed on the other side of the pond. They look awesome.

Cons:

Tees aren't complete but expect them to be refined as time elapses. This course is in it's infancy stage. Next season it should be good to go. Heavily wooded in areas and tough guards off some tees, requires some advanced skill throwing straight. Very close to a highway, but not hard to forget about the noise when playing past hole #2. Course needs to get worn, go play it! Help the cause. Designers are aware they need better signage but just haven't got to it yet. Bring a map.

Other Thoughts:

It's great to see yet another course built so close to I-80 in the Poconos. Can now get away for an entire weekend and stay occupied playing DG the entire time. Grip'n Rip!
