To find the starting point of the Highland Park 18 holr disc golf course , you must drive through almost all of it . There is a small place to park close to hole 1 . This course is park style disc golf . There are bathrooms close by ,and there are a couple of shelters that can accommodate .
The Equipment : There is a nice kiosk near hole #1 with map . The tee pads are cement , only 4' X 8' but hold footing well . The baskets are numbered Mach 5's . The signage is pretty good . Probably updated .There are dual pin positions on almost all of the holes , which makes for a nice change .
The Landscape . This is a very clean ,nice looking park that was mowed and well taken care of when I was here . Highland Park plays very flat . A couple of small grades until you get to about 14 . There are some semi woods holes that have a little elevation , and you throw off a big hill on #15 . You want to wear old or waterproof shoes for holes 11-13 ( more in cons section ) . The course will hold water on 8-13 and 15 , 16 . Navigation will be tricky in spots , but the flatness of the course will be easy on your legs . There is a nice concrete bridge that you will cross over twice , maybe for 8 and after 16 . There is a narrow but neat reservor of water that separates this course .
The highlights . The water carry on 8 was fun . There was a nice top of the world shot on 15 through a tightening window . #16 was a long hole over 500' that eventually hugs a brush line on your left as the fairway turns this way ( nice basket placement ) .
Signature Hole : #10 . A water carry to a second section of a long fairway with the water from a reservoir on your left .
Disc risk . If you take the water out of play on a few of the holes ( notably 8 , 10 , and 11 ) you should be okay . There is some thick brush to the left of 16 , and a little on 14 , but nothing else should cause you to lose a disc .
Time : it took me a hour to play this course . A group of 4 should be able to play it in 2 hours .

#1 Safety : Lots of walkers are present , some with their pooches . #4-7 wrap around a populated park with items to entice the family or kiddies . Skip a hole here if you have to .There is a cement walking path that might make you wait while throwing over the water on 8 until you cross back over after 15 . Be nice . Kokomo Disc Golf Club and Highland Park have updated this course and really trying .
#2 Navigation . The online map needs updating . The course breaks up , then reassembles in spots . Like , after playing 15 off the hill which you may have to look for , the have to go to your far left to see the tee for 16 .
#3 Standing water . The area had been fairly dry for a while before I came to play . I think that water and mud will be a staple for the fairways around 11-13 . I had waterproof boots on , but a nice pair of sneakers WILL SINK here . It must look like a bog on 8 thru 13 and 15-16 after a hard and sustained rain . You have been warned .
#4 Challenge : The course has a few filler holes , and some are just downright easy , which is sad because a few of the holes present a good fight for par . I think that the park had the local in mind when redesigning this course . .
With water like this , it will bring hungry insects . Spray Deet liberally on yourself before playing . The parking lot needs enlarging.

The Kokomo locals must be thrilled that this course is here . It was packed and someone was waiting for my parking spot as I was leaving . Mission accomplished , Highland Park . Not a long course overall , but fun ( 15 , 17 come to mind ) . Don't let the lack of elevation here , or the standing water in the middle of the course cause you to ignore this course . The alternate pins mean that Kokomo Recreation is working to appease as many as possible . This course is a fun stop .
My Recommendation : Good enough for families and newbies ( play away from the water ) , great for the locals , and it shows , interesting enough holes to keep intermediates , am and some pros occupied . A great leg stretcher for travelers , just off of rt 31 and a prime area for Course Collectors to combine with The Preserve , Heartland and Sharp's Park ( don't go to Shady Pines . I was there and was told the course was pulled ) . More relaxing than challenge , consider giving this course a play .

Mid to fairly easy course. Easy layout. Can be fun. Not bad for the area

So much standing water on holes 11-13The par for some holes are outrageous. Hole 4 is not a par 5 at little over 200 feet. Neither is hole 8 a par 4. I finished -5 today but my scorecard came out -14 with the pars on this course.

-Clean park
-Good amenities: restrooms, seating and garbage cans
-Decent shot variety
-Multiple pin positions
-Water hazards

-Very low detail and inaccurate signage
-Holes 9-12 often flooded and muddy during rain season
-Some sections play near walking path/road and playground.

A few months ago I would have given this a 2.5. The original pins were very bland. Lots of short putter shots straight forward with no obstacles. The only saving grace was the back nine where some of the holes have woods and elevation change. However around labor day 2018, the course got new B positions and almost all of them are vast improvements.

Much longer, more creative and all around better positions. I was able to get out some drivers multiple times which is very refreshing. Some of the new positions also avoid the muddy areas, which is great.

The main killer now (and the only real issue with the park) is the terrible, absolutely abysmal signage. The signs have always been incredibly bad. No detail, and very inaccurate distances. As well as some very old signs from the original course still being up, contradicting the real signs. But they were not updated for the new tees, so all of the previous problems still stand in addition to this. Locals wont have a problem with this, but anyone coming in from out of town (which is probably you reading this) will feel like their navigating a labyrinth. The signs are inaccurate and sometimes off by upwards of 100'. I hope they fix this soon, as I have no idea what the real distances are and there is no use in updating the page as there is no accurate information available.

I like the elevation changes and blind approaches on some of the holes. It has a nice combination of length and reachable aces.

The course conditions are what keep me away. I will almost always drive out of town to play. If it has rained recently, several holes are swamped with massive puddles taking up most of the fairway. Not just mud, but standing water.

The other issue is the geese. There are so many at times that your disc will inevitably land in poop. That has really taken away from my enjoyment of the course.

There is significant water hazard on three or four holes. The creek runs the length of the left side for several holes in a row. I have never gotten a disc back out of the creek. It is not too bad for experienced players, but it keeps me from taking newer players to this course. They will inevitably get a disc too high and it will sail left into the middle of the creek.

Well kept park, fairly flat and easy to walk. Fun water shots that go over a large creek.

Not entirely sure where Hole 1 was. Could use some signage giving directions. Hole distances are WAY off.

Great course for beginners and Pros alike. For beginners it is an easy course to learn on, not a lot of very difficult shots to make. Many lines to choose from. For Pros it is a fun duece or die course with plenty of ace runs. If you are in the area it is worth playing!

The redesign seems better than the old layout.

Concrete pads are bigger than before which is a nice addition.

Leaves currently all over the place making it a little tougher to locate neutral colored discs.

Signs need updated to reflect new layout. Marker writings helped but distance is a little off.

Overall I like the course. Somewhat technical on some holes but plays pretty quick.

Easy to lose a disc on some holes (water). One hole very close to a busy street.

This was the first course I ever played and it is still my favorite. It has just about every kind of hole you can think of with the eception of a hanging or elevated basket. You get everything from par threes to a legitimate par five, water hazards, through the woods shots and the chance to hit small children on a swing set. Just an all around beautiful course.

Intermediate course that would challenge beginners and provide minimal challenge for advanced players set in a neighborhood park. Holes are on the shorter side.

Baskets - 18 grippy baskets that are fairly new. Most of them have the hole number on the basket. Very grippy and deep.

Tees - 18 large concrete tees per hole. Holes 8 and 10 have an alternate dirt tee to avoid throwing over water.

Signs - course map at new start of course. Some of the holes have been changed since map was made so it is labeled on map. Each hole has a nice sign labeling hole number, distance, and a decent picture of hole.

Variety - Almost all of the holes are under 300 feet. 16 is the longest hole at 510 feet. Most holes in the 200-300 range. Hole are mostly open but have several mature trees to create challenge. A few blind shots due to wooded area and elevation on 13, 14, and 15. 4 water hazards can get into your head.

Water hazards - Holes 1, 8, 10, 11 have water hazards. 8 and 10 throw over water. Errant throws on 12 and 15 can make their way into the water.

Elevation - Holes 3, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 18 have slight to moderate elevation.

Holes recently renumbered to create better flow and to provide more parking. Water holes start at hole 8 as opposed to hole 2 in the past.

Benches or picnic tables near 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, and the walk to 17

Playgrounds are on property to distract the family.

Very peaceful and scenic park.

The signs are brand new and not very accurate. An accurate map of the holes were drawn with sharpie on top of the map on the signs.

Only one tee per hole. Being the only 18 hole course in Kokomo, this could get real repetitive real fast. 2 of the holes have alternate tees which are nice, but all holes need them.

Course could use more trash cans and benches to help make this park more peaceful and scenic.

Creek can easily overflow leaving entire holes under water.

Lots of goose poop on the fairways and sometimes the tees. Be careful.

I like this course. The concrete pads really helped to elevate the playability of this course. I used to play it more often when Shady Pines was 18 holes and I would make a loop from Indy. Even when I lose discs in the water, I have not had a bad time here. Always fun and challenging.

I would like to play this course more but it's out of the way. I would recommend it to any intermediate or beginner player looking for a challenge. Kokomo could use a second course in the immediate area.

There are many better courses within a half hour of this course if it is not challenging enough for you.

Hole 7 A little confusing throw up behind a screen of trees to the left.

Hole 8 No tee marker and basket tucked in tight to the trees.

Hole 9 Best I can tell hole 8 tee pad has been reassigned for hole 9. Simple Downhill throw

Hole 10 Nice long drive with basket behind the hill to the left. Basket missing and very muddy.

Hole 11 Back across the Stream. Dirt tee pads with concrete markers. Straight throw.

Hole 12 Longer throw thru the trees past a telephone guide wire to another missing Basket.

Hole 13 Across the street, basket backs up to the river, watch for throwing too far. Most technical of the holes here.

Hole 14 Back alongside hole 13 to an orange street cone which works to replace another missing basket.

Hole 15 Good hole to the right around an evergreen.

Hole 16 Simple throw past some trees at the midway part.

Hole 17 Basket along the tree line requiring a good anhyzer throw if RHBH.

Hole 18 Final short throw ducking under a leaning tree.

Might play again in the summer to see if conditions are better. However there are too many courses
nearby that seem to actually care for the game and maintain the courses year round.

-Good variety of shots
-The distances vary from hole to hole, ranges from 200ft to 530ft.
-Park is well-maintained.
-Baskets are in good shape.
-Some elevation changes.

-You are playing in goose/duck poop, they are everywhere.
-Water runs along 3 holes, if you lose a disc in it, do not go in the water, a friend of mine got staph from the water, it is nasty, you'll probably die from it.
-The park is congested, heavily, in the summertime.
-The layout is confusing and doesn't make any sense so bring a map.
-The back 9 is not easy to find, tee-pads are dirt and are only marked by orange posts sticking out of the ground by about 3 inches.

-I live here in Kokomo and to be honest, I'm disappointed with this course, It could be a lot better but the city only gave up half the park.
-If you want to see a good public park course, go to Marion, it's only about 40 minutes east of Kokomo is infinitely better.
-Apparently the trustees board is not happy with this course, the reason the back 9 is dirt is because Kokomo won't allow concrete ones, also there is talk of Kokomo removing this course all together because they are unhappy with traffic its brought in.
-This course could be so much better but Kokomo's trustees board won't allow it to be anything but an afterthought.

The course plays through a mostly flat park with almost no underbrush and nice mature trees. Nearly all holes play among the mature trees with multiple lines to the hole, with a couple pretty open holes. Two holes bring the creek into play, one playing directly across, the other playing along a bend in the creek so there is a route over the water and a safe route out and around. The water holes add a nice little bit of risk/reward.

Half of the course has nice concrete pads with bolted down tee signs. The tees and signage are in good shape. The baskets are all also in pretty good shape and catch well. A few holes use a nice little hill in the back of the park to add a little elevation to the course. There are a few longer holes to add some challenge and variety.

Half of the tees are natural with no tee signs. They aren't well marked, and it makes navigation pretty difficult, as well as not offering as good of footing. Navigation is tricky at times, I recommend printing the map available here or pulling it up on your phone, otherwise you'll do some wandering. The park road comes into play at times, and you have to cross it several times between sections of the course.

The course is a little lacking in variety, both in length and hole shape. I felt like I was throwing the same types of shots a lot off the tees here, so it got a little repetitive by the end of the course. It's tough to make a course all that interesting in a flat park, but the trees could have been used a little better to create some different lines.

This isn't a bad place to get a round in. The park is nicely maintained, and there are a few nice holes. It's pretty beginner friendly, with no underbrush and alternate tees on the water carry holes. More experienced players won't find too much challenge or variety here.

Come in the Park on the Northside use Deffenbaugh St. Turn left (south) onto the One-Way Street. Course Starts south of the Baseball Fields. I parked on the grass on the right,between the road and creek. Layout is both a Pro & Con. It uses all of the available land to it's fullest. But it does have repetitive holes and crosses,to those holes, a park road. That's used by not only cars but runners, walkers and joggers.As far as the repetitive holes (I believe #6,#11,#12,#13,#14,#17,#18) maybe a few moved to the wooded area after #10 on the west side of the creek? After looking at Google maps there is a nice Island Shot that's possible? Have clean fill dirt on others for elevated tees and/or pin placements?

- Alot of mid-range shots-200-300ft.
- A cool downhill shot on hole #9.
-Holes #2 and #4 are around water with alternate tee pads so you don't have to throw over water.
- Some baskets seem strategically placed to make play more challenging.
- Hole #8 is an uphill shot with a hard right curve.
- The cement tee pads have signs on them with distance, par and basket location.

- Only about half the holes have cement tee pads, the rest are dirt tee with no signs.
- Dirt tee's are marked with two yellow squares on the ground, some were hard to find.
- You had to have a map or have played there before. To navigate through course.

Free course with benches and trash cans through out. I like how the course uses all the park. It had a nice flow with a good range of shots.

i'm new to disc golfing 2 months ago. have only played 2 other courses. this offered a lot of opportunities to try different shots. all the mature tree will teach you real quick how to keep a shot lower to the ground

found course on this website, didn't print map, i guess i am used to having at least a main map at the park. although couldn't find my way around a very gracious local was our "tour guide" for the course. thanks to jesse!

had a lot of fun with all the different layouts that took a buddy to play 2 days later. he had a blast.
signs would be nice but now 2 times in, finding my way aorund no problem.
maybe they could print course layout from here and put it on their golf info sign.

Its near me. There are a few fun holes but issues in the CONS section hurt the course over all.

Geese poop, geese poop and more geese poop. They should change the name of the course to Geese Poop. Bring a towel. Many of the holes play too close to the water and that's some nasty, stinky, geese poop filled water that I will not go into to get a disc. I think we are up to at least six water lost discs.

Do not bother trying to play several of the original holes after it rains, they have no drainage on much of the course and its a soggy mire.

The new holes, while high and dry, have dirt tees.

If I had somewhere else to play I would not play here.

Right now we skip all the holes near the water and the swampy holes.

I get tired of stepping in geese poop and cleaning it off my discs. All that geese poop cannot be healthy.

This course is in a very nice park. The holes are laid out fairly close together, making navigation for the most part simple.

A couple of the tees were hard to find, and I believe number 8 may cause problems for some people, due to the fact that it runs real close to a busy street.

The two holes that played over the water were a nice change, this was the first time I had ever thrown over water. Not a long course, nor to short something nice to play if you are in the area and have about an hour to kill.

Well-maintained baskets. Great layout. beautiful setting.

Need concrete tee pads on all holes. Signage would be helpful to direct new players from hole to hole. The Highland Park geese have left a lot of "gifts" throughout the course- watch your step.

I should start by saying that I am a disc golf beginner. I always thought this game was played by middle-aged, overweight men who needed an excuse to get out of the house but were incapable of playing any real sports. Maybe it's just because I now fit most of those descriptions, but whatever the case, I love this game (I probably owe the NBA some money for that one).

The Higland Park Couse is great. It was easy enough that I didn't get overly frustrated as a beginner... but it seems to offer challenges for long-time players.

The course is beautiful. It truly does make use of most of the park's features (water and elevation changes). Holes 2 & 4 offer an opportunity for the brave to play over the water and also offer alternate tees for the less brave. My only complaint is that the course could be marked a little better. The course crosses the road and the creek on a couple of occasions, and if you're not familiar with the layout, you'll spend some time trying to figure out where some of the tees are located.

Anyway, grab a couple of discs and an old pair of shoes (it can get kind of soggy and the goose poop is really pretty bad) and check-out Highland Park. It's a lot of fun, and it's free!

Multiple hole types including wooded, open, over water, uphill and downhill. You should have plenty of chances to use all the shots you have in your bag. Nice baskets and tee pads for the holes that have them. Alternate tee locations for those who don't want to throw over water. A good mix of challenging holes with short birdie/eagle holes mixed in. Lots of trees will force you to be precise and also make for fun shot selections.

Can get muddy. It's a park so you can expect to have people in your way. Although there are nice hole signs on the tee pads you don't have a clue where the next hole is and it can be diffucult to find where you need to go next.

If you don't like water, this course can give you problems. Water is in play on many more holes than the description says. The brook isn't increadibly deep so if you loose your favorite disc, there is a possibility of retrieving it. You can easily send a roller on most of the front 9 holes into the water as well. I love having to throw over water, it forces you to make a good throw so I honestly see this as a plus. You can always tee off at the secondary tee boxes if you want to avoid it. I didn't see any trash cans but I am sure they are there, somewhere. Take the advice from other reviewers and print off a map, I didn't and I wish I did.

Nice baskets (spider-webs/chainstars I believe) fairly easy to navigate throughout the course with the course maps. Most of the shots will keep you accurate while a few holes will let you "open up"

Gets muddy, if you tend to not do well around water a few holes might make you rethink what you want to throw. Puddles were in quite a few of the paths/approaches (nothing like throwing a great drive and hoping on the skip only to find it SPLASH in a puddle in front of the basket)

They have a temp course set up on the north end of the park for the tournament, both courses were AWESOME! and quite a few birdie opportunities. The creek has no problems swallowing your discs and with it being quite murky, hard to see. I lost 3 discs that day, 2 putters and a brand new eagle. It is a very large park with baseball diamonds and a nature building which was closed when I was there. Over-all I would enjoy playing this course again!!!!

On most holes the course will make you be acurate without having to thread a needle. If you have never played around water hole #2 will either give you confidence or destroy your desire.

On a nice day there will be a lot of nondiscgolfers roaming around in the way. If it's baseball season you may have to play around a team warming up for the next game.

The "brook" is about waist deep (some teens were wading in it when we played) so loosing a disc on #2 and #4 is a possibility. They do have alternate tees on those two holes if you don't want to throw over the water.

The park is nice but maybe a sign or two around the playground and the ball diamonds letting people know that there may be flying saucers going by would be nice.
