Pros:

- good quality signage
- quality baskets
- defined tee pads
- easy to navigate
- good rage of distances ranging from 300 to 600 feet with plenty of par 4s and 5s
- requires several different shots types

Cons:

- lots of holes crammed into a small piece of land
- I would imagine that I'd the course or park were busy that it would be a safety hazard
- A beginner could easily throw into a backyard of the surrounding houses

Other Thoughts:

A really fun course, but I'm not sure the layout is truly ideal for the piece of property.

Wide Open 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Decent course in a nice park that is being developed around.

Long holes so you can let fly!

Nice tee boxes

Cons:

Fairly simple as trees are new and really don't come too much into play...yet.

WINDY

Holes cross soccer fields so if there are games it would be terrible.

Other Thoughts:

Glad it's not my home course, it still was a fun round

Stansbury Course Is Long, Really Long And Not Designed For Most Of Us! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 15, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

First of all, the course is difficult to find because there is another Stansbury Park about a mile away. This Stansbury Park is a brand new development. The park is large, flat and wide open. There are numerous trees which have been planted and currently are just saplings. The park has children's play area, numerous soccer fields and ball fields. It also has a small creek which meanders through one hole.

Everything about the disc golf course was done first class. There is an excellent course map sign. The tee signs are great showing all the needed information. The baskets are super. Great tee pads. Unfortunately, the design has some serious flaws, both in the safety aspect and in the overall design.

First the safety concerns. Hole # 5 is a 505' hyser which has players throwing over the corner of the children's playground. Sure as heck, some child or mother is going to get hit with a disc here as players attempt to cut this corner. # 17 is a 665' long straight hole which has you playing one of your shots right past the backstop and third base dugout area. If a game is in progress, this will inevitably spell trouble. And finally 18 is a 518' anhyser throw which ideally would hug the contours of the ball fields outfield fence. So with the crazy winds here, how many discs will end up over the fence and on the baseball field?

Design flaws. How can a course that saw so much money put into it be so un-enjoyable to play. You have to start with the gale force winds that were blowing today. Are they the prevailing winds here or was this unusual? But the design is just so silly. The course has ten par 4's and four par 5's. That leaves only four 3's. The shortest hole is 331'. For most of us, there are no ACE runs. You have designed a course here and eliminated a large percentage of the disc golf population, that is, beginners, families, most senior type players, middle school players and all those casual players who show up with one disc. They are all going to hate this course! Was that the intent? Design a course for the advanced to pro players? Therein lies the problem. This is not a championship course. It features no elevation, no shot making skills, no water hazards. It's just throwing long drives over wide open expanses of lovely green grass. As these trees grow to maturity the course will become interesting and more challenging. But for now, most players will stay away.

Cons:

Long boring holes over expanse of green grass.
Safety concerns.
Prevailing winds.
Lack of reasonable reachable holes for most players.

Other Thoughts:

I did not enjoy my round here. Between the gale force winds and hole after hole in the 400-500' range, it just wasn't fun. The problem as I see it is I don't think this course is built for success. I don't see most of the players enjoying this course. So did the Stansbury Recreation Department intentionally build this course for 20% of the disc golfers. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Wide open 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 13, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Par fours and fives are always nice. Concrete tees. Really nice hole signs. Good course to practice long drives.

Cons:

Really really open. Almost no trees. Extremely flat. Very vulnerable to wind. Some of the par fives were kind of short. Some are unplayable due to soccer and baseball fields. (If people are using them).

Other Thoughts:

It's kind of an easy course if not terribly windy.

Long distance practice. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 28, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Long drive practice.
Good baskets.
Plays with good OB tbd by players.
Decent variety of shots.

Cons:

Short tee pads(concrete at least).
Soccer fields.
Overlapping fairways(if it's busy).
No mandatory play.
No signs(but they are coming very soon).
Par system needs to be adjusted.

Other Thoughts:

This is a very flat course with lots of wind potential and some of the longest(flat-ground) holes in the state. There is a bit of overlap on fairways but the length of the fairways does spread play out a bit. There is some water and baseball diamond OB that comes into play and some trees that will also come into play on a few holes. This is definitely a course where you can let your arm out for some distance practice. The earlier you can play the better so as to avoid soccer and other local activities taking place at the park. I'd say it's worth the short-ish trip from Salt Lake to play a couple times a month.
Hole pars probably need to be adjusted as the current par for the course is 72 but as an intermediate player on my first round there I shot a 62. Sub 55 would be a great score.

Long and flat 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good long drive practice
Nice baskets
Clean, well maintained park
Teeboxes along path worked well.
Challenging holes

Cons:

Completely flat
Short trees = no need for any shot shaping - just long drive after long drive
Hole 5 is too close to playground
Sometimes it was difficult to figure out which hole to throw to.
While park was deserted while I was there, I could imagine it getting crowded and unplayable.

Other Thoughts:

This was an interesting course - Usually in a multiuse park like this, the holes are all too short. In this case, the holes were consistently long (shortest above 300 feet). I can throw long, and enjoy it, but some variety would be nice. I would think this course would not be much fun if you couldn't throw well over 300 feet.
The location and style of this park would allow for a fun beginners course, which this was not. The teeboxes were all painted on the paths that snaked through the park. It would be easy to add a second set of teeboxes more suited for beginners by painting with a different color or something. Using the same baskets, you could easily put in 18 holes <300 feet, doubling the interest in the park.
