Only Course For Miles... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Short, simple hole locations.
Relatively easy to find your way from hole to hole.
Rubber mat tee pads.
Great local DG community.
There are no other courses around - so this is THE disc golf course for anyone within 50-75 miles.

Cons:

Tee pads are not flat. Some had very significant dips and hills which are ankle-twisters

Course layout causes problems/delays as some holes throw over the top of - or through - others.

Holes are geared 100% towards older players. Most are very short - so the overall level of difficulty is a 2 (out of 5).

Other Thoughts:

Overall, a fun course to play. It's not going to be a championship course due to the short holes and layout issues, but for the locals, it provides a great place to gather and shoot a quick round.

Awesome 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice well maintained 9 hole course in an urban city park type of setting. Course is located and plays around ball fields/courts, pavilions, and a playground. Course may have only 9 holes but when playing the back 9 holes, you play from the second set of tee pads that all holes have. I rather liked this idea because it gave each hole a completely different look and changed how to attack each basket. Directional signs hanging from each basket made next tee direction very easy. Even made distinguishing front and back tee pads a breeze.

Cons:

Baskets are 2 chain- DGA baskets which tend to have your disc blow through and not catch if you hit them high. Tee pads are rubber mats which might get slippery in adverse conditions but seem well kept. I didn't see no bulletin board with a map or directions. I wasn't sure where to start but walked backwards from hole #4 and eventually found #1 in the back left hand corner of the park (back left when entering at the playground from elementary school anyway).

Other Thoughts:

Yes, this is only a 9 hole course. Yes, the holes are rather short. Yes, most people can score low here. But...that doesn't mean that's it's not a fun, enjoyable course. The time and thought put into this course is obvious and well executed. They worked with what they had and I don't think the layout could be any better than it already is. This won't be a course I play every other week but that's only because it's 2 hours from my house. If your in the area, I highly recommend a stop here to play a round!

Nice Little Course in a Nice Little Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 26, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Evergreen Park, where the course is located, appears to be well maintained and is a nice little park. A number of the holes are just open spaces with plenty of room to throw wild, while the other holes are "wooded" with a good number of trees right in the middle of the fairway. The baskets are in great condition, labelled with the hole number, and have bight orange bars painted on them to help them stand out better from the tees. Hole 9 ends very close to the tee for hole 1, so you could easily just keep looping around the park until you've played the number of holes you like. As of this writing, this is the only course north of Ridgway and south of the PA/NY border in Central Pa. This is a nice little course to stop at if you are travelling in the northern PA area or visiting the Allegheny National Forest near Rt. 219.

Cons:

All the holes are short. All holes are around 200 ft and straight. There really is no need for anything other than a mid-range disc and/or putter. There isn't a lot of variety either. No big turns or bends. A good player will likely sink each hole in 2. The start of the course is not well marked and there are no course maps or hole details that I could find anywhere (assume easy Par 3 for each hole). While the tees are marked with numbers and wooden blocks, they are natural tees and some have some tree roots growing on them, so just be careful when teeing off. Also, this is a public park so you may encounter some people obstacles you'll have to play around.

Other Thoughts:

Hole 1 tee can be found at the corner of Park Ave. and Birch St. You can park along Birch St. to stay close to hole 1 if you like. While the tees don't jump out at you, you should be able to spot the next tee from the previous basket by scanning the ground within 20 or 30 feet of the basket. Evergreen Park is really nice, mostly shaded, and has tennis courts and a nice wooden kiddy play area so while you can play the course in 30 minutes or less, there is plenty to do there if you bring the fam. I wouldn't make a long trek to visit this course, but if you're visiting the Allegheny National Forest area or traveling north and have an itch to play, make a detour and check it out. This is a great course for beginners as the holes are short and straight. It would be good practice for putting and mid-disc throws!
