Pros:

This course is set up in a pretty much disc golf exclusive part of the park. A walking trail does come into play on holes 2, 4 and 8 I believe but that is about it. There is a good amount of elevation change throughout with a mix of tightly wooded and a few basically wide open holes. There is one tee pad per hole. They are black rubber mats. These aren't the greatest especially when wet. They're also a little on the smallish size. The baskets are chainstars that were all in good shape and caught well with the exception of hole 7 I believe it was. The downed tree next to the basket clearly fell on top of it at some point bending the top and cage on one side. The flow of the course is pretty intuitive and flows really well from hole to hole with both 9 and 18 ending up by the parking lot. There are tee signs on the majority of the holes. These are pretty straightforward with a basic hole map, hole number and distances. The distances are all on the shorter side. Nothing over 400 feet and quite a few under 200. I don't think the distances are totally accurate here. There's a few listed over 200 that clearly are not. Water comes into play on hole 4 but would take an absolute shank to go into it for anyone with even a decent amount of experience. The course is permanent, free to play and in the ground year round. There is also a nice large course map right by hole 1, always a plus. This course is in a very small town so it probably isn't really too busy.

Cons:

This course would be bumped up a half disc with a little bit of TLC. Don't get me wrong it is a fun course but there are tons of downed trees in the fairways, a few missing signs and quite a few of the gaps are ridiculously narrow. Holes 5 and 7 I think are the worst if I remember correctly. It's just hope for the best. Also the tee pads are very uneven and lumpy. They are like ice when wet. It was raining our whole round and after the first couple holes we just teed off next to them.

Other Thoughts:

Overall this is a fun little 18 hole course that's not too far off of I-90 and won't talk a ton of time to get through. Definitely worth a spin if in the area or passing through. Probably the best one in the area.

Good Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 16, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice location with a variety of shots. Elevation changes on many of the holes. Have not had seen other people playing it on the two visits I made.

Cons:

Majority of the holes are of the shorter variety. Rubber tee mats are never fun. The holes in the woods are quite overgrown. A few holes could use some landscaping to clear out some of the underbrush that is full of stickers and thorns and create at least one obvious route to the pin. One windfall tree has blocked a fairway but that's nobody's fault.

Other Thoughts:

Good for testing your accuracy but not for testing your max distance. Could use a crew to do a bit of clearing and cleaning. I'll play it whenever I am in the area since it's better than the Rochester courses.

Pros:

Good mix of heavier woods, more open shots with fewer trees, a more simple water hazard which helps with the challenge of a great 18.

Cons:

Semi-crowded and for more experienced players maybe was not technical enough. A lot of foliage making it difficult to find discs at times, as well as find the next tee.

Beginner/Intermediate 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 25, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Course is set in a large, multi-use park that has a few other activities going on. Luckily, it looks like there isn't much spillover onto the disc golf, so there shouldn't be any interference here. There is a sign at the start of the course that says the course is closed on Tuesday nights from 4:00pm to 10:00pm, not sure if that's true or not!
- Holes are split pretty evenly between open areas and some dense woods. It starts in the open with a downhill RHBH anny shot, with forest on the right. #2 is a very nice downhill shot, with an elevated teepad, with a hill on the right and a big tree next to the pin. #3 is another RHBH anny shot around dense woods, with a blind pin from the tee. #4 is a very cool shot over a pond; it is RHBH hyzer friendly, and allows for lay-up shots for smaller arms. #8 is another cool hole, a downhill straight shot between dense forest and a lot of trees, with the basket on a slope next to some rough. Even though these holes are more or less open, they are still fun and/or challenging.
- Rest of the holes are set in thick, gnarly, nasty woods with fairways carved out of numerous skinny trees. All of these holes are extremely tight, both off the tee and along the fairway. #5 is the first encounter, a very tight uphill shot, maybe a RHFH line is easiest. #6 is a downhill hyzer with a few skinny gaps to choose from. #7 is an uphill hyzer with a gap off the tee, then a choice of gaps under or around a tree to get to the pin. Without getting into too much detail, there are super tight hyzers, straight shots, and flick shots, and maybe a trick shot or OH to be found. #16 is memorable, a hyzer or FH anny over a valley, with a nasty pit with water on the left side of the fairway to fall into.
- Some decent elevation changes here. Out in the open, two very good downhill shots on #2 and #8, and a steep uphill on #9. Gentler downslopes on #1, #4, and upslope on #17. In the woods, uphill shots on #5 and #7, a downhill shot on #6, and valley shots on #11 and #16.
- Definitely some hazards to watch out for, like the water on #4, the pit on #16, dense rough on some open shots, and nasty rough/jail in the wooded holes. Some holes in the woods are more forested than others, and are very thick off the fairway.
- Rubber pads are pretty nice, baskets are in good shape, and teepads are good. A map can be helpful in a few spots, but navigation isn't terrible without it. Might have been a few minor layout changes in the past, like #10 being shortened possibly? But it's close enough.

Cons:

- Holes in the woods are very, very tight... and are very, very short. Super short. Average length of 188' for the nine holes, which are basically approach shots. It wouldn't be so bad, but they are all that short.
- A bunch of holes outside of the forest are pretty wide open, with at most one side bordered by forest. #3 and #17 only have woods on the right, #10 only has woods behind the basket, #18 is wide open, and #9 only has one big tree to worry about.

Other Thoughts:

- Overall, a pretty solid course that has two very different sections. The shots in the open offer some good elevation changes on a few holes, a nice water shot, a cool downhill shot with lots of trees, and some more open shots. Holes in the woods are extremely technical, with one or more gaps on every hole, and tricky lines. Might be too overwhelming for beginners, yet at the same time, too gimmicky for more experienced players. Really comes down to personal preference.

One of my favorite all time 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 30, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is very fun, the first few holes are OK then it hits the woods and becomes very technical. It is designed around a creek and there are some decent shots with elevation as well

Cons:

Relatively difficult to find your way around in some parts of the course

Other Thoughts:

Played in deep snow, one time. Will need to revisit this one !

Pretty Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 11, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

A nice course with plenty of elevation change and wooded areas.

Hole 2 is a great down hill shot that allows you to really go for it and let your disc ride.

The holes in the woods were not too difficult, but there are PLENTY of trees to get in your way.

Cons:

The rubber tees were interesting. Especially in the woods where they were wet. It made from some slippery throws.

Some of the paths could use some TLC, but they weren't too bad of shape.

The course was shorter then I expected, but nothing I was going to ticked about. A few longer holes would have been nice though.

Other Thoughts:

Very easy course to follow, with great signs and paths. If in the area it is worth playing

Some Attention Would do Wonders 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course offers a rather good challenge with tight wooded fairways, large elevation changes, some thick brush and mature trees. Great mixture of open and wooded holes also. It's easy to navigate with signs at every hole and a course diagram at hole 1. Very easy to play 9 holes, or a modified version of 12 holes to avoid the woods if interested.

Cons:

This course is rather short, with only 3 or 4 holes going over 300 feet. The park area is well maintained, making the open holes nice, but the wooded holes have very thick brush by the end of the summer. Some of the baskets and signs are leaning or coming out of the ground. The rubber tee pads are in decent shape and are cut to appropriate lengths, but many of them are sitting on uneven ground, making them no better than a dirt tee-pad.

Other Thoughts:

I gave this course a 3 only because it has potential if some effort is put into some grooming and maintaining the wooded holes. It also seems to me that wooded holes (most of which are very short) have plenty of room to be expanded. I am pretty passionate about this since I am originally from the area.

If you are in the area, it's worth stopping and trying. Also, I'm hoping that by Fall '09 there will be weekly league play to eventually work up to a well-maintained and possibly even modified course in the future.

where's my disc? 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 10, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Location located right next to the St. Charles Golf course. Challenging wood holes, some good elevation changes. Water comes into play on only one whole,#4. There's a nice practice basket by the pavillion.

Cons:

Not very well maintained. Only some of the holes have signs & the tees are rubber mats which are uneven. Quite a lot of underbrush; you'll be looking for your discs quite often. Paths aren't sufficiently defined for the wood holes, which is over half the course.

Other Thoughts:

This isn't a bad little layout & could be much better with a little attention. The paths could be cleared, new signs & better constructed tees would make this one of the sportier courses around. Not a long course but interesting.
