Nice Little Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 12, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is great for beginners. Despite being short it has a creative layout. And yet, most of the holes are ace runs.

Cons:

A couple of the baskets are missing tee signs.

Other Thoughts:

Update 7/15/21 - They have added concrete tee pads for the first five holes. The others have no tee pads and the markers that used to show the location of the tees are gone. The bottom of one the baskets is on the ground. The short tee for the first hole is no longer there.

Pros:

Interesting design for a 9-hole short course. Geared towards kids and new players, and does a good job. Black Dynamic baskets look enticing. I found at least 1 tee area for each hole, distance and hole number marked on the small sign post.

The design was quite creative. Used all the trees, slight elevation, small creek/ditch, one slightly elevated basket, 1 hanging basket under a structure that used to be a baseball field very unique, and a couple holes that play in the fenced area of an old small baseball field.

Holes supposedly had 2 sets of tees for added variety and length as one were to get better and need more challenge, though I did not always find both.

For experienced players all you need is mids and putters, and this is a decent course to practice your short game, with a step up course just a few miles in one direction, and a real tough one a few miles in the other.

Cons:

Tee signs- maybe missing a few. One basket had some broken chains already.

UPDATE- Played in 2018, then again in 2022, this time with my 8 year old. Several baskets are broken, tee signs are missing, and there is a now a dog park in the middle of the course area.

Other Thoughts:

Good intro course for sure, I have played many "par 18" courses that are worse.

I even had the opportunity to teach two 7-year old boys an intro lesson on what disc golf is and how to play and the equipment. They lived nearby and were just playing around in the park, but thought it was super cool to try to throw my shiny, colorful discs into a basket. (Note to self: keep some extra discs in the car to giveaway when an opportunity like this presents itself.)

These type of courses are tough to rate. Compared to all I have played it fits in that 2.0 range, but if it is indeed designed for kids and is interesting and fun, then who cares what the rating is.

UPDATE- was really disappointed having played a few years back, I thought this would be a great place for my 8 year old son just getting into playing, but the lack of structure to the course just made it uninteresting and feeling more like a practice area than a course.

Lowering my rating from 2.0 to 1.0

Huggins Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 8, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Hole 1 is a nice hole. Could be a good course to practice upshots. The course is well kept.

Cons:

Wide open course with no obstacles. Most holes are around 150 ft long or less. Course can be played in about 15-20 minutes by yourself. Minimal challenge for rec or above.

Other Thoughts:

The course was placed in a small city park and they used all the space they had available.

BRAND NEW DISC CATCHERS 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 6, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very Fun course to introduce Players to the game. All holes are aceable and fun to go for them. Theres a elevated hole (6) that makes you pick to go for the ace of layup for the easy 2.
Brand new Dynamic Disc baskets. Great course to try to shape shots many holes can be shot forehand and backhand.

Cons:

Only one is some of the holes are low in my mind I would just like to see them all about 30-32" from the ground, not really a con but just a thought. Also tee pads would be nice but not that necessary now that its dry but would be nice in the wetter months.

Other Thoughts:

Great course for kids and ams working on approach and putting. My kids who I have taken several times usually tire out and dont want to finish other longer courses really had fun at this course and want to come back.

BRAND NEW BASKETS!
2 awesome new holes including a super sweet new clowns mouth hole
New elevated basket that made an interesting hole even better. Hole 6 from the orange tee is an elevated tee pad across a giant ditch to an elevated basket. Talk about character.

Other Thoughts:

If you are looking for a place to work on your short game, this is it. Nice open course to try stuff out.
