Pros:

- good quality baskets, mach X
- some of the most beautiful views you'll ever see from a disc golf course
- good variety of distances ranging from 200 to 400 ft
- the extreme steepness will make you throw some very unique shots

Cons:

- terrible parking situation, had no idea where to park, cars just seemed to be randomly left in a dirt driveway area. Couldn't imagine more than 6 cars parking at this course
- multiple tee pads are placed incredibly close to a very steep cliff
- the entire course is incredibly steep, I've played all over Colorado and Utah and this is one of the steepest courses I've ever played
- the steepness leads to this being one of the most physically taxing courses I've ever played
- tons of very uphill holes that just become daunting after awhile
- multiple blind shots
- hole 15 basket was missing

Other Thoughts:

This course is a bear. If you are looking for an intense hike and throwing some of the most vertical uphill drives you've ever thrown them this is the course for you.

Go big or go home 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Extremely challenging course. If you are an avid disc golfer with good control of your drives, you'll really enjoy what this course has to offer. If you're a beginner, you'll still have fun, but you'll do some tough trail blazing as well. There are a number of high risk shots that an experienced player can thrive on. This includes very downhill shots and holes playing on the literal side of a mountain. But when you hit your line, there are many holes here that are quite satisfying to throw. Holes 10 and 15 are my favorite because they are positioned down below you and allow some beautiful lines to the basket. They can also be quite punishing if you miss your line! I once went 300 feet downhill to the left of the pin on hole 10. Hole 14 is one of the iconic holes of the course with it being extremely downhill and a beautiful throw. Just be sure it begins and end straight with not too much distance. A good mid-putter shot.

Solitude. You can often play a round here without seeing anyone, especially if you come on the weekdays. This can provide a very peaceful experience for someone that wants to get out on their own.

Good cement tee pads, solid baskets, and signage. The signage can be a little non-intuitive so bring a map if you're a first timer.

Cons:

Rough terrain with sand/rocks that can damage discs.
Easy to lose discs if you make an errant throw down the mountain or don't have a spotter on the blind holes.

You're very exposed to the elements and it can be windy up on the side of a mountain. You're also hiking up lose sand and gravel and that can wear on you after awhile.

None of the fairways are altered/manicured at all. Obviously this isn't very necessary or possible on most of the holes that play on the rocky hillside, but some of the lower holes could benefit from some clearing. For example, holes 13-16 include lots of tall brush and grass and can be very easy to lose discs on. There also dumpy looking holes. Improvement to this regard would take money and hard work, but in an ideal world, I think it would improve the course a lot.

Other Thoughts:

This place is well worth the visit and you'll probably want to come back after getting a taste. You get a feeling of a very raw, untouched, almost deserted place that's really exposed when you play here. After all, it's located on a mountainside. That brings some good and some bad aspects to the table. Very unique course with extreme types of throws you don't see anywhere else, at least not in Utah county. You can read all about it but it's another thing to be there and see it yourself. If you've ever been hiking somewhere and wanted to chuck a disc off the side of a mountain, you'll get to do that here. Not too many crazy long throws, but very demanding throws nonetheless. This course offers high reward for the good shots, and punishment for the poor ones. Come and see it for yourself!

Big Hike Great Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 25, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

The views are amazing. Love the course design and its use of the steep hilly terrain. There are some beautiful downhill shots.

Cons:

Missing pointers to next tees from the baskets. Hole ten is quite a distance from nine's basket.

Other Thoughts:

This is a course for experienced players. Beginners maybe frustrated by the steep terrain and distances to the basket.

Great Course! Hard to find though 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 3, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Gorgeous views, challenging, unique, variety of holes, didn't see a soulthe whole time

Cons:

Hard to find, hole maps were not intuitive DEFINITELY take a pic of the overall course map (or download) prior to starting.

Other Thoughts:

This course was unique, gorgeous, a great workout, and overall a ton of fun.

The hills made for some serious challenge and your disc can get rolling pretty well too. A spotter would have been nice.

I played at 3 on a weekday and it was empty. Didn't see anyone, so it was very peaceful.

The course is located farther West than the maps indicate. You actually enter through an unmarked gate just west of the entrance to Slate Canyon Park along Slate Canyon road.

Mountain course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 30, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course had a lot of variety in the holes. There are some good open shots, downhill throws, some uphill throws, and some holes that take a lot of finesse. Good signage and solid tee boxes.

Cons:

The course is located on the side of a mountain. Don't try taking the younger kids here because there are some holes that are steep and have no good paths. It could be a danger to small children.

Extreme Mountain Course, Hated It, Can’t Wait to Play Again 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 30, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Exercise. This course is on the side of a mountain. It is not "hilly", it is steep. If you're out of shape like me, this course will kick your butt!

Having said that, there a ton of positives to this course. Concrete tee pads, new baskets, and signage is now up with distance and alternate pin locations.

Most holes play along dirt roads/walking paths, with many that go from one tier of the mountain to the next. On almost every hole you are either climbing or descending 30-50 ft. If you make a wild throw, double that.

Lots of elevation change is an understatement. Only 4 of the 18 holes are flat. Good variety of shots and distances.

Most of the shots aren't as scary as they may seem from the tee. A couple blind tee shots had me worried, but aiming in the general direction of the sign worked out fine. Most holes are fairly wide open as you approach the pin.

Some of my favorite shots required hanging my drive off over the edge of the mountain and fading back into the mountain towards the pin.

There are no water hazards, but the elevation is your water. #10 is an awesome downhill drive, but if your disc starts to fade down the mountain you will not want to go get it.

A full, padded 18 hole course in Provo just a few miles from old Bicentennial. It is one of a kind and had it all to myself.

Cons:

This isn't a course for the casual disc golfer. When the hardcore trail runners passed by looking at me like "what the heck are you doing out here", I knew I was in for a workout.

The disc golf almost becomes secondary to the hiking. Water is a must! Course has lots of dirt and rocks. Your discs will probably get some dings.

Too much elevation change? 8 uphill holes is a lot to me and it seemed too repetitive at points. I wished there were more flat holes sprinkled in.

Other Thoughts:

This course is a good example of high risk, high reward. Holes are Birdie-able, but require taking a more aggressive line that may send you hiking. Play it safe and you should be able to par most holes.

For some this course will be a favorite, for others unplayable. As I was playing, I saw 2 cars pull up and drive off so.... not for everyone. As for me, can't wait to go back.

Awesome addition to Utah Valley's courses 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course has some solid tee pads and I'm really diggin the Mach X baskets. This is a rugged course. Many holes located on hillsides or in positions where an off shot could cost you. The throws required for most of the holes a pretty straight forward but missing your line or having a gust of wind catch disc can have you looking for a while if it blows into other nearby fairways.

Cons:

There is not any signage yet indicating the distances or alternate pin locations, but the course is virtually brand new, so hopefully those will come later.

Other Thoughts:

Fun course! Not the toughest, but technical enough that it is much more of a challenge than many of the surrounding courses! Great addition to the arsenal of courses found in Utah valley.

Unique, fun course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Fun holes, #15 and #16 are really cool. Great view of Provo.

Cons:

Easy to lose disc, have a spotter on some of them. Not really good for beginners, but my siblings did okay.

Other Thoughts:

Lots of hiking, bring water! Be sure to take a picture of the map, or you will have no idea where you are going.
