Reviewed: Played on:Jun 19, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

1. Exclusivity.
2. 21 holes.
3. Privacy.
4. Elevation changes.
5. Mount Alice (just go and see!)
6. Great people (Phil, family, and friends!)

Cons:

1. Grip lock will punish you. The rough is VERY rough. Wear some boots.
2. Lack of any real "LONG" holes.

Other Thoughts:

I remember Phil and friends talking about this new course being built on Phil's property like 20 years ago at Tendick leagues. It took me until today to finally say "OK. I'm make the drive." Dude - it was worth it. I tossed -4 (1 bogey / 5 birdies), but I used every shot I had in my bag.
Mountainside pin placements
Interesting OB and Mando's.
Hanging basket
"Funhouse" basket (with electricity!)
Every one of these baskets caught well, and I was tee'ing off concrete at every hole. What more do you need?
This is a very in-depth review - sorry. I just got home and I'll be thinking about this round, digesting it for a while now.
Phil and his brother played along and showed me all the routes. That helped.

I think this is my new favorite course. I can't wait to head back.

Pros:

1) It's private and very quiet.
2) Phil is a nice guy allowing anyone to come play his course as long as they sign the waiver.
3) Very short but also technical making for a really fun round.
4) Nice variety of basket placements from elevated, to positions on slopes makes the putting game interesting which is necessary on a short course.
5) Signs are on most holes showing you the layout but you shouldn't need them for most holes.
6) Wire spools available for those with backpacks or bags and not carts to keep them out of the mud.
7) Gravel on all teepads is better than just teeing off of mud
8) Course design throws a lot of different shots at you. I threw rollers, low skips, anhyzers, straight shots, gentle hyzers, spike hyzers, etc.
9) He will allow campers to stay on the property.
10) Stairs and railings on the dangerous hilly part of the course shows his effort to make it safe and enjoyable.

Cons:

It's Private . . . and i know money only goes so far so I am thankful for the chance to play it even with these issues. I also donated $6 to his funds where I am sure not everyone does.

1) Gravel tees are sufficient but not preferred at least on the longer ones where I would like to do a runup.
2) If I had a private course I'd have a little more of a pro-shop setup to help bring in revenue for course upgrades. He has the trailer for it but has very little setup. I may even offer to setup merchandise for him and give him a portion of the revenues.
3) There are only three or four holes that are longer than 240' or so making it a little redundant on distance.
4) Not all the same baskets making for differing putting styles being required. Some baskets are homemade, some, permanent (but not intended to be left outdoors), but this also adds to the charm of the private course so take it or leave it.
5) Some underbrush and really wet areas on the perimeter of the course but if you avoid it . . . you won't have any problems.

Other Thoughts:

I had a great time with four of my friends and Phil. It took me a long time to get to his property because of my weekly leagues but I am glad I made it and I hope to make it back again as I was on a streak towards the course record before I took a 5 on the uphill hole in the woods. It's a lot of fun and a quick play even as a 6 some because of the shorter holes. Like I said . . . the negatives are negative but I will never complain about being able to play on someones private property . . . but in order to fairly compare it to other courses I have to mention them.
