Pros:

-Numbered baskets
-Nice views of Mt. Abraham and the Adirondacks
-Free
-Easy parking
-Easy to spot all 9 baskets

Cons:

Oh boy. It's a long list.
-There are no tees. This brings up the question of whether this is actually a course (in my opinion). The good news is that the baskets are very close together, so it's pretty obvious that after you finish one hole, you pick up your disc and tee off from the last basket. No walking from a basket to the next tee.
-The baskets are TERRIBLE. I think they are actual disc golf baskets, rather than some kind of homemade contraption, but they catch worse than every homemade basket I've ever played on. They're old and ugly and brown. There are about 8 chains per basket and they can be moved around. I got spat out on MANY perfectly good putts from 10-15 feet. I've never been so frustrated by baskets.
-There is no "design." Solely 9 baskets placed around the perimeter of the school's fields.
-Holes 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 are straight, wide open field shots without obstacles of any kind. Holes 4 and 6 have a dogleg and 4 actually has trees in the way! So novel! 8 has a backstop that can affect your shot and 9 has a tree in the way.
-An errant throw will get your disc over the fence of houses abutting the course.
-I played when school was out, but the course may not be playable when the fields are being used by sports teams.

Other Thoughts:

I was delighted when my niece told me they had built a disc golf course down the street from her home at the local high school. I showed up skeptical... and the course failed to meet even my lowered expectations.

Man, those baskets are terrible. It kills me that half the holes are ace runs, but there's no way your disc would stay put if you nailed the chains. Some of my 10 foot putts got bounced out or went straight through gaps in the chains. Ugh!

Not having tees was pretty hard. There's no indication of where you're supposed to start each hole. So I loosened up and got rid of the notion that I was "supposed" to start from anywhere. I just threw from the previous basket and it worked out just fine.

This course kills me because high schoolers are going to ask what the baskets are and learn that they are associated with disc golf. They're then going to think that disc golf is the LAMEST THING IN THE WORLD because this course is terrible. No high schooler would risk being caught playing on this course. Their social status would be absolutely crushed. There could be nothing less cool than playing disc golf on rusty old baskets with no obstacles, no tees, no signs, and no elevation. Plus, people would laugh at you when you missed a 10 foot putt, not understanding that the chains were to blame. Damn these chains!!

Hopefully whoever built this course will do something to make it better. In the meantime, I'll keep playing because it's a mile from my sister's house.
