Much more bitter than sweet

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

- One hole has some trees on it
- Tee signs
- DGA baskets in nice shape
- Existing concrete walking path used for tee pads
- Excellent views of surrounding mountains
- Grazing nearby cows mooing (I like it leave me alone)
- Simple to navigate
- Can be played in under 15 minutes
- Not busy
- Quiet

Cons:

- Open
- Boring
- Plays through every other park activity
- Not challenging
- Does not punish bad throws
- No elevation

Other Thoughts:

Its a pit stop course nothing more, nothing less. If there is anyone and I mean anyone doing anything else in the park at the same time as you, you're gonna be throwing through whatever they are doing. I played here on a Saturday afternoon and no one else was in the park or in the parking lot, it's a small, rural area. I wouldn't come back here but I'm glad I bagged it as it took me 10-15 minutes to play after a long day of bagging many courses and was starting to get really tired. Locals and course baggers only I'm afraid.

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 3, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Baskets catch well
- Easy to find your way around
- Made use of every inch of space and obstacles (Fences, volleyball net, soccer goals & trees)
- Playground & bathrooms on site

Cons:

- No tee signs (Tees are lines painted on sidewalk)
- Plays over a soccer and baseball fields

Other Thoughts:

If you are in the area and wanting to play this course does its job. It plays quick so you can get 3-4 rounds in about an hour. There is enough challenge to keep you interested.

The Locals Sweet Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Amalga's Sugar Park is a small, maybe 5 acre, well-groomed park in a fairly small country town. The park has restrooms, a playground, a baseball field, a soccer field, a volleyball court, a picnic pavilion, picnic areas, and a basketball court. Oh did I mention the town hall is also on this maybe 5 acre property as well. Can we put any more here? Sure, let's put in a 6 hole disc golf course.
The course has 6 DGA Mach V baskets laid out through the entire park. Obviously all the activities provide plenty of obstacles for throws, I say sarcastically. You throw around nets and ball field fences and courts and everything else. The good news is you can pretty much stand anywhere in the park and see everything in the park, so if its clear it is playable. There is a pretty good selection of wide open throws and tighter more technical holes.

Cons:

The course plays though everything, obviously if there was anything else going on the course would be unplayable.

Other Thoughts:

Amalga is a very small town in northern Utah near the Idaho border, a little off the beaten path and probably doesn't get too many tourists. So the locals have thrown everything into their one little park and it probably works just fine for them. They probably all know each other and know when things are going on at the park and can schedule their rounds accordingly. As a locals only course it's not terrible, as a visitors/tourist destination course keep on driving. When we got here there was one person in the parking lot and no one in the park we played quite a few rounds here getting the lay of the land, it's fairly easy to knock this one out in under 15 minutes and I did find it enjoyable for what it is.

Easy Park Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 26, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Located in a well maintained park
good use of limited space
some tricky shots due to fences and other obstacles
concrete for every tee
sidewalks around the entire course makes it easy if you have kids or a stroller

Cons:

tees for 2 and 6 are far too short, end up using the grass just in front of them for decent runup
multi use park so it could be busy and cause problems completing an round
old mach V baskets

Other Thoughts:

fun park to play on a Sunday since no-one else will be out there, its an easy 6 hole course that you can play 3 rounds in a relatively short time. Just watch out for other park users and be courteous.
