Has potential. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 11, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Challenging Holes
-Nice use of elevation changes
-Nice baskets
-Bathrooms
-Parking

Cons:

-No tee signs
-Many holes have unfinished tee boxes
-Hard to navigate (due to no signage)

Other Thoughts:

Attempted to play this course the other day. We found two different maps online, and could not figure out which was the correct one. Spent forever trying to figure the course out, and gave up and playing a few holes. This course could be cool if the time was taken to finish it and put signs at tees. Hope to play here again someday if it is every completed.

Benefit of the Doubt 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ Eagle's Nest is Lancaster's newest course, and is set in the scenic woodlands and fields of Alley Park. When completed, it should be a decent compliment to Flat Rocks.

+ DISCatcher baskets on every hole. It looks like concrete tees are coming eventually, but they are only in on 1 and 2 so far.

+ It's a pretty challenging course compared to Flat Rocks on the other side of town. Steeper elevation and some longer distances and tougher throws.

+ The area is set aside for disc golf only which is pretty sweet. You won't have to worry about pedestrians and such.

+ Nice kiosk with restrooms and a practice basket near the first tee.

Cons:

- In its current state, Eagle's Nest is a 1.5 at best. I hated every second playing here, because it really isn't finished and in a rough state. No signage, no real tees outside of the first few holes. The fairways are rough, and the rough even rougher.

- It's a 1.5ish right now, but I'll bump it up to a 2.5 just because of what it will be in the future. I'm not going to give it a 4 just on potential, because I don't want to mislead anybody.

Other Thoughts:

I guess Concrete tees and signage was supposed to happen in 2017, but hasn't.

I wouldn't recommend playing here until it's finished up. We'll see what kind of course it ends up being in it's finished State, but it's kind of a mess at this point.

At the end of the day, if a course has been open for 2 Years and you're going to advertise it all over the internet, it should be in better shape than this.

Going to be an incredible course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 3, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-New DISCatcher baskets
-Plenty of parking and a porta potty on site
-Tons of up and down hill shots
-Great mix of holes that force really tight lines and holes that allow you to really rip your drivers
-Beautiful views all around the park
-Hole 16 is a HUGE top of the world shot
-1000 foot option on the first hole

Cons:

-Only a couple tee pads are in so far
-the tee signs are just maps on laminated paper that are hung on pvc pipe. Most of the signs had fallen of the pipe and were just laying on the ground
-SUPER hilly
-Theres a steep hill up to the parking lot that some cars might have trouble getting up
-Long uphill walk to hole 3

Other Thoughts:

This was an absolutely beautiful course and its only going to get better as more work gets done this spring and summer. Unfortunately I was on a time crunch playing this course and had to play some speed golf. This course is in and around some small mountains so playing speed golf nearly killed me on this course.
This course really forces you to pull out every different shot you have. I threw some big hyzers, rollers, turnovers, forehands, grenades. Every disc you own will find its way into your hand. You have to really fight to get your pars here.
Its pretty easy to navigate your way around except for 2 spots. theres a long walk after hole 3 that is very uphill. After the huge top of the world shot on 16, turn around and walk to the left, and there is a staircase about 100 feet away to bring you down to the green.
On hole 11, the basket is down the hill and to the right, NOT straight ahead. I threw to the basket that was straight ahead down the hill and walked down to find it was for 13.
Since I was on a time crunch, I didnt play the last 5 holes but i plan on coming back when it gets warm to play again. Overall a wonderful course!

New challenging course in the area! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 6, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- porta potty on site
- lots of parking
This course has a great mix of Long open holes ( including a newly added 1008'' hole from the pro tees), mixed with tight challenging wooded holes throughout.

starting with hole #1 ( a 420 foot shot to an island green) there are memorable hole throughout your round.

Holes 2 thru 9 work there way through a up and down wooded area, and into a pine forest that offers a few tunnel shots.

Holes 10 thru 15 are a nice mix of open shots and wooded that will test every shot in your bag.

Hole 16 is a "top of the world" shot to go home and tell your friends about.

and 18 is another 400+ foot shot over a valley to a basket perched up on a mound elevated 20ft in the air!

The newly added "presidential loop", a 5 hole addition around a pond at the lower half of the park is a beast.

the first hole has the option of playing to a basket 1008'' away.
along a rolling hillside. all the holes on this addition will test your ability.

lots of elevation throughout and the course uses it to its advantage.

Multiple pin locations can give this course a real bite, and make those birdies really feel great when you get them.

All in all this "under construction" course is really coming along nicely and by 2018 will be a must play in ohio.

Recently added 5 holes around a pond add a lot of playable area, and water hazards to the mix as well.

The local Club is working hard to get this course to be a great destination, and improvements are being made every chance they have

Cons:

practice basket in odd spot

natural Tee pads are still in place until concrete can be added.

signs are temporary at best. ( will be same signs as Faltrocks when done)

Mowing and maintenance is still not as regular as needed but is getting better

The rough on this course is still ROUGH. this is the first full year it has been played and getting of course can add a hefty penalty.

Other Thoughts:

This course is still being finished up in regards to amenities and tee signs.

Tee signs are expected to be in this summer (2017), as are concrete tee pads.

If you plan on playing the entire 23 holes give yourself about 4 hrs and bring lots of water.

THIS IS COURSE IS CURRENTLY NOT VERY CART FRIENDLY, BUT THAT IS A GOAL.

maps are available online and i would recommend printing one off for your round.

ill update this review as upgrades are made, ut as is this course is already a must play in the area and will only get better with more activity at the park.

Hills 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 24, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Out in the middle of nowhere but only minutes from Rt 33. Good mix of open holes and wooded holes. A couple of poke and hope holes but I'm good with that. Hills in central Ohio. Several elevation holes. Good tee signs but one was missing. I see where they have alternate pin placements and long tee pads. Easy to follow for the most part. Some benches and trash cans. There is an Eagles nest there.

Cons:

No concrete tee pads. Long walk between 2 and 3. Could use more signage and one tee had no tee sign at all.

Other Thoughts:

I will rate this higher when the tee pads are in. I found this to be a fun course to throw. Worth the trip to play. I struggled with what rating to give this because I really really like the course.
